Cleaning, desalting of open well at various locations of AGE E/M No II Sub Station , max dia up to 8 Mtr and max depth upto 15 Mtr (approx) from solid/liquid/mud and vegetation etc by the following procedure: - (a) Dewatering the well with necessary desludge pump for handling heavily contaminated water with solids up to 50 mm and using compressor arrangement incl necessary safety precautions of workers. (b) Repair of head walls, drainage curtain, sanitary seal, cover and lifting mechanisms and removal of vegetation. (c) Empty the contents of the well- water, sludge and debris. (d) Repair damage to the inside of the well and carryout repair to well lining as required at site incl necessary cement and masonry work. (e) Clean the wall of the well using 200mg/l chlorine solution with long handled broom. (f) Disinfect the water in the well with a 50-100 mg/l chlorine dosage (depending on the level of contamination) and leave for a minimum of 30 minutes. (g) Dewater the well and allow it to fully recharge. (h) After recharge chlorine residual in the water, where necessary repeat the process of dewatering and recharge the well until , the chlorine level has reduced to 0.5mg/l or below. (j) Make the final repair to the well cover and water lifting mechanism all as specified and as directed by Engineer-in-Charge. Note : -1. The work shall also include all needed equipment like well dewatering pump of sludge removal upto 50mm, Air compressor , Crane/winch/manual chain pulley, hoist, tripod, electric generator... etc.. 2. Manpower involved in well repair, cleaning and disinfection should be fully trained on the risk and good health and safety practice. The working area should be fenced, a kerb constructed (of there is no head well) and at least 2 m around the well should be kept clear of objects which could fall in.
