| 1.08 | Construction of plastic cell filled cement concrete pavement, thickness as per design, over a prepared sub base, with 53 grade Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) or any other type as per Clause 1501.2.4 M30 (M-thirty) Grade. Formwork of plastic cells should be made of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), sheets having thickness ranging from 0.21mm (zero decimal two one microi metre) with sides 150MMx150MM (one hundred fifty millimetre into one hundred fifty millimetre) and height as fixed by engineer in charge. Cells should be stitched using thread, thus ensuring optimum joint strength. Joint strength should be a minimum of 2 (two) Kilo Newton per metre. Heat welded cells should not be procured as they are not able to withstand the tension and often break when they are laid in the full width of the carriageway. Iron spikes of about 200MM long are to be used to keep the cell walls taut. Nylon thread or rope may be used to prevent collase of cells during placement of concrete. Iron spikes to be taken out for use in other place as soon as the concrete is in place. The subbase should be provided with concrete/stone block or brick on edge on either side of the carriageway protecting the subbase with full thickness of the concrete pavement for its confinement and protection. Curing of concrete slabs for 14 - days, curing compound ( where specified) and water finishing to lines and grade as per drawing and Technical Specification of cell filled Concrete Pavement Published by NRRDA.
