Excavation in soil in hilly area by mechnical means in all heights and depths, in all kinds of soil including saturated soil comprising of mixed soil, ordinary rock and hard rock cutting by blasting shall be carried out by taking all necessary precautions against soil erosion, damage to hill side, water pollution etc. and to protect stability of hill side. Rock shall be excavated with chiselling and wedging out of rock (where blasting is prohibited) including cutting and trimming of side slopes and disposing of excavated earth lift upto all heights and all leads as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge, in conformity with the requirement of technical specification of rural roads clause 1603.1. and 1603.2 of General condition for contract to achieve designed formation width including hauling and stacking of material useful for constrution at suitable sites and safe disposal & dumping to be arranged by the contractor of unsuitable cut material in specified manner , trimming , filling of unevenness , blindage and finishing of the road to be specified dimensions or as directed by the Engineer-in-charge for smooth riding .
