Exploring the feasibility and preparation of DPR for diverting the surplus water from Varadhamanathi Dam to Chatrapatti Karungulam, Kallipatti Sengulam, tanks receiving water from Nanganjiyar River and Nanganjiyar Dam in Oddanchatram Taluk Dindigul

Preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for diverting the surplus water from Varadhamanathi Dam to Chatrapatti Karungulam, Kallipatti Sengulam and tanks receiving water from Nanganjiyar River and Nanganjiyar Dam in Oddanchatram Taluk of Dindigul District, which necessitates carrying out a detailed Topographical Survey using Total Station or DGPS to identify the alignment for the Pipeline/Canal corridor by capturing all topographical features, establishing Benchmarks (BM), and taking Longitudinal Section (L.S.) and Cross Section (C.S.) levels at each 30m interval. This is accompanied by the comprehensive design of the Lifting System, covering the structural design of the Intake Well, Jack Well, and Pump House, as well as the Electro-Mechanical design for pump Horse Power (HP) calculation, motor selection, Master Booster Station design, rising main hydraulic design including pressure and surge analysis, and the design of Conveyance or Pipe Carrying Bridges wherever necessary. Simultaneously, soil exploration through trial pits or boreholes will be conducted at every 200m interval and at the proposed Intake Well and Pump House locations to determine the Safe Bearing Capacity (SBC) for foundation design, alongside a capacity study of beneficiary tanks and ponds to group Minor Irrigation (MI) tanks and determine the feasibility of gravity flow versus pumping based on contour levels. The work concludes with the preparation of the comprehensive DPR that includes detailed estimates and specifications, a Land Plan Schedule (LPS) for acquisition, Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR) analysis, detailed drawings (Plans, L.S., C.S., and structural details), and the submission of all reports including printing, photography, and binding charges. Furthermore, the work includes necessary provisions for clearing light jungle and vegetation to facilitate survey work, taking measurements and peg marking, hiring a Light Duty Vehicle with a driver for site visits, inspection, and instrument transportation throughout the survey process, and Collection of Revenue Maps (FMB sketches/Village Maps) and Topo sheets for the preparation of the Land Plan Schedule and documentation as directed by the departmental officers.
