Restoration of Basic Strip of Runway, prevention of soil erosion, extension of Apron and associated works at Shimla Airport on Design and Build basis

All design works including but not limited to concept design, schematic design, detailed design, architectural drawings, structural design, working drawings, and shop drawings and as built drawings of Works. • The contractor shall get the design approved by IIT. All preliminary and/or general requirements for Works including topographical and geotechnical investigation, if required (initial topographical survey & Geotechnical Investigation is provided by AAI in tender documents) site establishment, site survey, barricading, security etc. Execution of all Civil works for restoration & grading of Runway basic strip of Shimla Airport of dimension 1309m x 80m (minimum) which includes 60m runway strip length + 1189m runway length + 60m runway strip length and 80m width of runway strip i.e. 40m on either side of the centerline and RESA of Size 30 M X 60 M on both ends of Runway. The work mainly includes the following:-

Reconstruction of slide areas with soil reinforcement technology/ soil nailing / hybrid technology and stabilization of slopes including preventive measures to ensure avoidance of slides on side slopes with new technologies to sustain the hindrance free operations on the runway.

Prevention methods of soil erosions of slopes by Coir mat erosion control blankets / Turf mat/ Double twisted steel wire mesh/ Simple vegetation turfing / Jute netting with vegetation / Ready made turfs of grass for ensuring of proper side slopes.

Prevention of infiltration of rain water in to the basic strip area by providing impervious layer with application of Geo membrane/ drainage composite or any other technology.

Improvement of drainage by providing cross drainage by providing PVC/RCC pipes including repairs of existing cross and longitudinal drains of the airstrip for discharge of storm water beyond the side slopes.

Installation and fixing of instruments for monitoring of structures for horizontal/ vertical/ local movements, drainage behavior, settlement, earth pressure, stress in reinforcement/backfill, pore pressure, temperature, rainfall, pressure etc.

Pavement works: Apron, Link Taxi Track, and vehicular road for movement of fire tender etc. including design of pavement based on soil investigation, AAI’s specifications as per suitability of critical aircraft at Shimla Airport and vetting by IIT.

Note 1: All works to be carried out as per conceptual drawings/ design intent enclosed with tender documents with all materials, labour, T & P, machinery, equipment, consumables, deployment of suitable supervisory personnel, testing, etc. complete and completed based on approved architectural, structural drawings, specifications, design parameters and as per directions of Engineer-in-Charge including obtaining necessary approvals and NOCs from the concerned authorities. Note 2: Detailed scope of work as given in the AAI’s requirement – Volume 2 & Volume 3 of the Tender Documents may also be referred.
