Excavation in soil area by mechanical means in all heights and depths, in all kind of soil including saturated soil comprising of mixed soil, ordinary rock and hard rock. All work of rock cutting by blasting shall be carried out by taking all necessary precautions against soil erosion, damage to hill side, water pollution, etc. and to protect stability of hill side. Rock shall be excavated with chiseling and wedging out rock (where blasting is prohibited). All earth work in cutting/excavation, including rock excavation shall be carried out true to lines, grades, side slopes, width, camber, super-elevation and level as shown on the drawings or as directed by the Engineer-in-charge, in conformity with the requirement of technical specification clause 1603.1 & 1603.2 to achieve designed formation width including hauling and stacking of material useful for construction at suitable sites and safe disposal and dumping to be arranged by the contractor of unsuitable cut materials in specified manner , trimming, filling of unevenness, blindage and finishing of the road to specified dimensions or as directed by the Engineer-in charge for smooth riding. The recovery for useful stones, for 417.71cum. (four hundred seventeen point seven one) @ Rupees 300/= only (Rs. three hundred only) per cubic metre shall be effected on pro rata basis in all circumstances. Any loss to the public and private property during the course of excavation shall be the absolute responsibility of the contractor, which shall have to be duly compensated by him in all cases.
