TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:Microwave synthesizer should be capable in performing synthetic reactions involving nano materials synthesis, metal catalyst, routine organic, organo-metallic, regular use of non-polar solvents like toluene, hexane etc. along with seamless scale up from mg to gram scale (under closed vessel pressurized conditions and elevated temperatures) without the need to re-optimize the reaction parameters. It must have a software operating system and interface for being able to directly take up protocols from the optimization module and use them for library generation and scale-up.1. Specifications for small scale reaction optimization (Monomode Synthesis Unit):i. Microwave Power Output: Minimum 600 Watts or higherii Microwave Power field density: Minimum 6000 Watts/liter or higheriii. Maximum Pressure & Temperature: 30 bar and 300°C or greater for all vessel types (10 mL as well as 30 mL) for scale up reactions without re-optimization of parameters.Iv. Temperature Measurement: IR measurement as standard facility with at least 6-point calibration for accurate temperature measurement of reactions.v. Pressure Sensor: Integrated Pressure Sensor to measure, control and display as well as document reaction pressure.vi. Magnetic Stirring: Integrated magnetic stirring with user selectable speed from 0 - 1000 rpm or more for uniform heating of even high viscous reactions and for synthesis of Carbon based Nano Materials.vii. Cavity: Self-tuning cavity for optimum heating efficiency with all vessel typesviii. Vessels Required:a. Reusable Borosilicate Glass Vessels 10 mL (100 pcs or more) and 30 mL (20 pcs or more)b. A 10 mL vessel made of material like Silicon Carbide or equivalent with unlimited reusability for in- situ fluorination and use with alkaline solution not compatible with glass vesselsix. Heating performance with borosilicate glass vessel: System should have ability to heat: 20 mL Ethanol to 200 °C in 2 min 5 mL Toluene to 200 °C in less than 5 minx. Controller: Large inbuilt Touchscreen display with capability for online graphical display of reaction parameters like pressure, power and temperature and review of previous reaction runs. xi. Data export: Direct printout to PDF files or export of data to excel via USB ports.xii. Integrated Camera: Must have an integrated camera for monitoring the reactions with display on the screen of the instrument without a need of external PC or laptop. User must be able to capture the reaction images as well as create videos.xiii. Consumables: Stir bars for both 10 mL and 30 mL vessels (20 pcs or more each), Snap Caps (40 or more) and Silicone Septum (140 or more)xiv. Air compressor for operation and cooling: A suitable air compressor must be offered with the instrument.2. Specifications for the scale up module for gram synthesis (Multimode Unit) A Microwave Oveni. Microwave Power: Installed power of 2000 Watts or more with dual magnetrons and delivered power or at least 1800 Watts or more for homogenous heating to ensure equal product yield.ii. Cavity Volume: 60 Liters or moreiii. Safety: Integrated high performance cooling with software controlled guided airflow- Must have multiple safety switches- System must not be any electronic plugs/sockets inside the oven cavity to prevent corrosion.iv. Temperature control and monitoring: Remote contactless temperature monitoring with IR sensor. Additionally, an in-situ thermometer for one reference vessel must be provided.v. Controller: Integrated touchscreen graphical display for all routine operation. It must have possibility of connection with an external PC, Laptop, Tablet PC or Smart Phone to control and view the process. External controllers not acceptable.B High performance Multi mode Rotor system (01 no)i. Capacity: Must be capable of processing 8 or more reaction vessels simultaneouslyii. Pressure Measurement and Control: Must have Active Pressure Measurement and Control on all vessel positions via 8 pressure sensors.iii. Magnetic Stirring: Must have provision for magnetic stirrer.C High Performance Quartz Vessel Specifications (04 nos.):i. MOC: High Purity Quartz material capable of working at extreme temperature and pressure conditions upto 300°C at 80 bar simultaneously.ii. Vessel Volume: 80 mL or moreiii. Max. Operating Pressure: 80 bar or moreiv. Max. Operating Temperature 300°C or morev. Maximum Design Temperature and Pressure: 310 °C / 140 bar (2000 psi) or morevi. Temperature and Pressure: Max. Operating temperature and pressure specifications must be available at the same timeD High Performance PTFE-TFM/Ceramic Vessels (08 nos.)i. MOC: PTFE-TFM material with Ceramic jackets capable of working at extreme temperature and pressure conditions upto 260 degC at 60 bar simultaneouslyii. Vessel Volume: 100 mL or moreiii. Max. Operating Pressure: 60 bar or moreiv. Max. Operating Temperature: 260 °C or morev. Maximum Design Temperature and Pressure: 310°C / 140 bar (2000 psi) or morevi. Temperature and Pressure: Max. Operating temperature and pressure specifications must be available at the same timevii. All vessels must have simple hand tightening closure. No special tools viz. wrenching torque must be required to close or open the vessels.viii. Reaction vessel must have reliable metal safety disks for overpressure protection. Operation via self-venting is not acceptable to prevent contamination and escape of gases.ix. For user safety the reaction vessel must be ventable inside the oven prior to removal and opening of the rotor to prevent chemical and pressure hazards to the operatorx. Each pressure vessels must be individually tested & delivered with pressure test certificate E Sensor Systemi. Pressure Control: Must have integrated simultaneous pressure control with eight (08) pressure sensors in all positions with wireless transmission of data to system electronics.ii. Temperature Control Must have IR sensor for all vessels for accurate temperature measurement and control internal temperature measurement and control for one reference vessel with the help of immersion gas bulb thermometer with wireless transmission of data to system electronics.iii. Calibration Must have provision to allow for re-calibration of the temperature sensors by the operator.F Accessoriesi.Gas Loading: Gas loading facility for microwave reactor for carrying out reactions under pre-pressurized atmospheres e.g. reactive atmosphere viz. CO2 or inert atmosphere viz. N2 or Ar (individual for each vessel), pressures of upto 20 bar should be applied to each vessel prior to reactionMagnetic stir bar: Minimum 16 stir bars must be supplied.Heating elements for heating of non-polar solvents: Silicon Carbide heating elements (16 nos.)Additional vessels: Complete vessels made of PTFE and Ceramic Jacket along with all sealing parts (04 nos.)G Special Features· The scale up unit should be upgradable for microwave assisted Photosynthesis applications - these should be wireless lamps that are microwave activated and provide in-situ UV exposure inside individual vessel.· System must have built-in high performance exhaust for cooling and fume removal· The scale up unit should also have an optional Rotor for Microwave assisted accelerated drying of samples under clean conditions that should be quoted optionally.3. Guarantee:Minimum 5 years guarantee on the complete instrument including the spares and electronics items. It must also cover minimum one preventive visit per year and break down visits as and when required.4.
