| 10 | Structural strengthening, of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) Accessibility and existing damage to the concrete surface, Structural strengthening, of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) wrapping for Ground Floor beams, two or more layers High-strength unidirectional fabric or precured laminates. The CFRP wrapping of reinforced concrete (RC) beams is a structural strengthening technique designed to improve flexural strength, shear capacity, and ductility, often used as an alternative to traditional steel jacketing. The method involves applying high-strength Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) sheets or plates to the tension face and/or sides of a concrete beam using epoxy resin, followed by curing to form a composite system.Surface Preparation: Remove plaster, dirt, and damaged concrete. Smooth the surface using a grinder, rounding corners to a radius of at least 20mm to prevent stress concentrations.
Surface Cleaning: Remove dust using compressed air and clean with acetone.
Primer Application: Apply epoxy primer to seal surface pores and enhance adhesion. Resin/Adhesive Application: Apply bonding resin (epoxy putty) to the beam surface. CFRP Application: Apply the CFRP sheet/fabric. Use a grooved roller to press the sheet, ensuring it is flat, tight, and that resin penetrates the fibers while removing air bubbles Flexural Strengthening (Underside Wrapping): CFRP plates or sheets are bonded to the tension face (underside) of the beam, parallel to the longitudinal axis. This increases the bending capacity and stiffness.Shear Strengthening (U-Wrapping): To increase shear resistance, CFRP sheets are wrapped around the sides and bottom of the beam, forming a "U" shape. These are typically placed perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. Complete Wrapping: The beam is fully enclosed with CFRP sheets, providing the highest increase in strength and durability but is often restricted by limited access around the beam, Anchorage System: To prevent premature debonding of the CFRP from the concrete, anchors—such as CFRP U-wraps or spike anchors (anchors made of fiber bundles inserted into drilled holes)—are used at the ends of the sheets | 218.32 | SQM | 4,500 | ₹9,82,440 |
