Repair works to Lighthouse tower at Vengurla Point Lighthouse station

Dismantling the existing rusted and damaged galvanized iron (GI) handrails fixed to the top slab of the lighthouse tower by carefully removing anchor bolts, base plates, clamps, welded joints, and all other fixing arrangements without causing damage to the existing RCC slab or adjoining structures. The work shall include cutting of welded connections wherever necessary, removal of embedded fasteners, careful handling, lowering of dismantled members from the tower top using suitable lifting arrangements or manual means, stacking of serviceable materials at a location within the lighthouse premises as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge, and disposal of unserviceable materials and debris. The item shall include all labour, tools and tackles, cutting equipment, scaffolding or working platforms, lifting arrangements, safety equipment, temporary barricading, protection of existing structures, cleaning of the work area upon completion, and making good minor damages, if any, resulting from the dismantling operations. The work shall be carried out in accordance with the specifications, relevant safety regulations for working at heights, and as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge. The rate shall be inclusive of all incidental charges, complete in all respects, and nothing extra shall be payable on any account.

Chipping 75mm average thickness of unsound/weak concrete material from slabs, beams, columns etc. with manual Chisel and/ or by standard power driven percussion type or of approved make including tapering of all edges, making square shoulders of cavities including cleaning the exposed concrete surface and reinforcement with wire brushes etc. and disposal of debris for all lead and lifts all complete as per direction of Engineer-In-Charge including cost of all labour, tools & plants etc., complete.

Providing, mixing and applying bonding coat of approved adhesive SBR Polymer (@10% of cement weight) modified cementitious bond coat @ 2.2 kg cement per sqm of surface area mixed with specified proportion of approved polymer on chipped portion of RCC as per specifications and direction of Engineer- In-charge complete in all respect including the cost of all materials, labours, tools & plants and all other charges etc., complete.

Providing, mixing and applying SBR polymer (of approved make @ minimum 2% by wt. of cement used) modified plain/reinforced cement concrete for structural members having minimum characteristic compressive strength [with ordinary portland cement, coarse sand and graded stone aggregate of 10 mm maximum size in proportion as per design criteria] with average thickness of 75 mm thick in Grade M25 with cement content not less than 330 kg per cum. Rates shall be for finished surface area of concrete and shall include the cost of labour, concrete and appropriate approved Super-Plasticiser for rendering concrete as flowable and SBR polymer but shall exclude cost of reinforcement, bond coat, Shear Keys, centering and shuttering, strutting, propping etc. Payment under this item shall be made only after proper wet curing has been done and surface has been satisfactorily evaluated.

Centering and shuttering including strutting, propping etc. and removal of form for Edges of slabs and breaks in floors and walls Under 20 cm wide at all heights complete as directed including cost of all materials, labour, tools & plants etc.

Steel reinforcement for R.C.C. work with Thermo-Mechanically Treated bars of grade Fe-500 D or more including straightening, cutting, bending, hoisting, placing in position and binding with 18 SWG binding wire all complete for all height as directed including supply of all materials, labour, tools & plants etc.

Reinforced cement concrete work in beams, suspended floors, roofs having slope up to 15° landings, balconies, shelves, chajjas, lintels, bands, plain window sills, staircases and spiral stair cases above plinth level up to floor five level, excluding the cost of centering, shuttering, finishing and reinforcement with 1:1.5:3 (1 cement : 1.5 coarse sand(zone-III) derived from natural sources : 3 graded stone aggregate 20 mm nominal size derived from natural sources).

Providing and fixing 50 mm nominal bore dia 'C' Class G.I. pipes hand railing of approved pattren by welding etc., fixed in position on LH tower top slab including applying priming coat of approved steel primer and the cost of all materials, labours, tools & plants and all other charges etc., complete as directed by the Engineer in-charge.

Painting G.I. pipes of 50 mm diameter and fittings with synthetic enamel paint of approved brand and manufacture of required colour to give an even shade with two coats over a ready mixed priming coat for new work including the cost of all materials, labours, tools & plants and all other charges etc., complete.

Providing and fixing 1.20 mm thick GI perforated sheet conforming to IS 277, having perforation pattern, size and pitch as approved by the Engineer-in-Charge, to the external side of the GI handrailing fixed on the top slab of the lighthouse tower, including cutting to the required size, directly welding the perforated sheet to the GI handrailing, grinding and dressing of welds, cleaning of all welds, heat-affected zones, cut edges and damaged galvanized surfaces, applying two coats of zinc-rich cold galvanizing paint to all such areas to restore corrosion protection, and including all labour, welding consumables, tools and tackles, scaffolding, transportation, handling, lifting, wastage and all incidental charges, complete in all respects as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge.
