Obtaining 90 mm diameter, 450 mm long undisturbed soil samples (UDS ) from boreholes WITH JARRING LINK in soil, soft and weathered rock and collecting packaging and labeling.
Conducting Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) in soil, soft and weathered rock and collecting, packaging and labelling disturbed soil/rock samples there from all as per IS:2131-1981(reaffirmed in 2002).
Conducting Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) as in Item No. 7 above but with part of the distrubed soil samples of medium stiff to hard cohesive soils to be coated with paraffin wax and sealed immediately on collection to completely retain all moisture within the sample, and part of the sample to be collected, packaged and sealed as in item No. 7 above.
Conducting SPT in rock with RQD greater than 10% and less than 25% all as per specifications, including replacement of SPT shoe by a new SPT shoe for each SPT as per specifications.
Collection of ground water samples for evaluation of ground water level and their variation as per IS:1892-1979 (reaffirmed in 2002), IS:6935-1973 (reaffirmed in 2012) from each borehole at specified depths (minimum 1 litre) including all provisions of sampling, packing, sealing and labeling as specified and including handling charges etc. all as per specifications.
Conducting cross borehole test comprising of five boreholes, one source and four receiver bore holes (two in X-direction and two in Y-direction) for evaluation of Dynamic modulli ,dynamic Poisson's ratio,shear and compression wave velocity variation with depth . The test shall be conducted as per IS 13372(Part 2):1992 (reaffirmed in 2001),ASTM:D4428,ASTM:D7400 at specified location and depth as per direction of EIC excluding cost of drilling of appropriate size bore holes required for test upto 50 m depth, which will be paid under relevant Item No.4 and 5 of this bill of quantity, PVC/Aluminum pipe casing, grouting and backfilling complete as per specifications and as directed by Engineer-in-charge.
Backfilling of boreholes with 1:1 cement : bentonite/ mud grout as per specification. Operating of this item is must for satisfactory completion of work.
Conducting Plate Load Test ( asper IS: 1888-1982 reaffirmed 2007) at foundation level using 600mm x 600mm test plate including cost of excavation, dewtering, all arrangement for reaction loading, testing depth, all as per the specifications and as directed by Engineer in Charge.
Upto 5.00 Metre depth level.
Carrying Electrical resistivity test for evaluating ground water level and its variation along with subsurface stratification,ground profiling by Schlumberger four electrode method including submission of comprehensive report with interpreted results for layer thickness and resistivities in triplicate. The test is to be conducted as per IS:1892 -1979(Reaffirmed in 2002), IS:15736-2007(Reaffirmed in 2012) covering whole plan area of building upto depth of exploration as specified & recommended by Engineer in charge below existing ground level.
Carrying out Core cutter method (CCM) test (for fine grained cohesive soils) as per IS:2720(Part XXIX)-1975 (Reaffirmed 2005) to evaluate Bulkdensity,dry density.The test is to be conducted on one or more UDS(undisturbed sample) collected from each borehole or alternate & staggered boreholes and representative of each soil stratum as directed by the EIC.
Carrying out Sand replacement method test (for medium&coarse grained soil) as per IS:2720(Part XXVIII)-1974 (Reaffirmed 2010) to evaluate Bulkdensity,dry density.The test is to be conducted on one or more DS(disturbed sample )collected from each borehole or alternate & staggered boreholes and representative of each soil stratum as directed by the EIC.
Conducting Pressure meter test in NX size borehole in soft rock & hard rock with electronic probe for pressure up to 200 bar or failure which occures earlier and submitting the test data and computed parameters (like Em,PL,Creep etc.)as per IS12955(Part-2)1990 reaffirmed in 2001. at specified bore holes .( One set of test consistes of testing at 4 elevations in boreholes)

Carrying out Sand bath method Alcohol Method test as per IS:2720 (Part II)-1973 (Reaffirmed 2010) to evaluate Water content .The test is to be conducted on one or more DS (disturbed sample )collected from each borehole or alternate&staggered boreholes and representative of each soil stratum as directed by the EIC.
Section II -Laboratory tests on Soil Determination of Grain size distribution,percent fines of soil sample by conducting Grain Sieve analysis & Hydrometer analysis as per IS:2720(PART 4) -1985(Reaffirmed in 2006) . The test is to be conducted on one or more DS(disturbed sample ) & UDS (undisturbed sample) collected from each borehole or alternate & staggered boreholes and representative of each soil stratum as directed by the EIC.
Sieve analysis.
Hydrometer or Pipette analysis
Determination of soil classification,identification, evaluating percent fines as per IS:1498-1970(Reaffirmed in 2007). The test is to be conducted on one or more DS(disturbed sample) & UDS(undisturbed sample) collected from each borehole or alternate & staggered boreholes and representative of each soil stratum as directed by the EIC, submission of test result as directed by EIC.
Determination of Specific gravity, natural moisture content, voids ratio by conducting Density bottle method , Pycnometer method test as per IS2720(Part III/Sec1 or Sec2 )-1980 (reaffirmed in 2002)along with submission of test result as directed by EIC. The test is to be conducted on one or more DS(disturbed sample ) &UDS(undisturbed sample) collected from each borehole or alternate & staggered boreholes and representative of each soil stratum as directed by the EIC.
Water content from UDS by oven drying method as per IS : 2720(Part II) - 1973.
Determination of Liquid limit, plastic limit atterberg limits and plasticity index of soil sample as per IS: 2720 (part5)-1985 Reaffirmed in 2006. The test is to be conducted on one or more DS(disturbed sample ) &UDS(undisturbed sample) collected from each borehole or alternate & staggered boreholes and representative of each soil stratum as directed by the EIC.
Determination of Shrinkage limit and shrinkage ratio of soil sample as per IS: 2720 (part-VI)-1972 Reaffirmed in 2001. The test is to be conducted on one or more DS(disturbed sample ) &UDS(undisturbed sample) collected from each borehole or alternate & staggered boreholes and representative of each soil stratum as directed by the EIC.
Carrying out Chemical analysis of sub soil samples to evaluate chemical characteristics of soil including pH,Sulphates(SO3&SO4),chloride and nitrate contents,organic matter, chemicals salinity and any other chemicals harmful to the foundation material as per IS: 2720 (Part 23,24,25,26 and 27) in an approved laboratory, complete as per specifications, including submission of test report .The test is to be conducted on one or more DS(disturbed sample) &UDS(undisturbed sample) collected from each borehole or alternate & staggered boreholes and representative of each soil stratum as directed by the EIC.
Same as in Item No. 25 above, but on 2:1 water:soil extract of the soil samples, giving sulphates as SO3 only.
Chemical analysis of sub-soil, ground water&soil-water mixture as per relevant IScodes for determining chemical characteristics of water&soil such as colour,odour,turbidity ,pHvalueand specific conductivity at 25deg.Cand chemical contents such as carbonates,sulfates (both SO3and SO4), chlorides,nitrates,organic matter and any other chemical harmful to the foundation material . The test is to be conducted on one or more water samples collected from each borehole. water samples, including alkalinity sulphates as SO3 & SO4, chlorides, Nitrates, pH, turbidity, flouride, free and saline ammonia content, hardness etc., organic content ,soluble salt content and any other chemical & harmful chemicals . etc
Conducting In-situ Pump-in Permeability test by double packer cyclic method in weathered and hard rock of 3m test section upto maximum presssure of 10Kg/sq.cm,all as per IS: 5529 (Part 2)-2006 to evaluate permeability.Each unit of this item shall consist of a series of tests with pressure of three(3) equal increments to the maximum and three(3) equal decrements etc., as per specifications. The test is to be conducted in specified boreholes at specified depths as per direction of EIC.
Carrying out Direct Shear Test (UU,CU,CD) (for cohesionless soil) as per IS:2720 (Part 13)-1986 (Reaffirmed 2002) to evaluate Cohesion and Angle of internal friction (CD test), Shear Strength, Shear Modulus (Static), ELastic Modulus (Static) Coeficient of Consolidation (for CD test) .The test is to be conducted on one or more UDS (undisturbed sample ) collected from each borehole or alternate&staggered boreholes and representative of each soil stratum as directed by the EIC.

Unconfined compressive strength test as per IS: 2720 (Part10) 1991 (Reaffirmed in 2006) on undisturbed soil samples or soil samples compacted to specified density to determin safe bearing capacity, compressive & shear strength of soil.
Consolidation tests on undisturbed soil samples or on soil samples compacted to specified density, giving full test results including unit weights, specific gravity, e-log p curve, virgin curve, P0, eo, Cc, Cv and mv for all pressure increments etc. (Tests without presentation of these results will not be paid for.)
Carrying out Proctor Density Test as per IS:2720 (Part 7)-1980 to evaluate Bulk density, Dry Density, Optimum Moisture Content. The test is to be conducted on one or more DS (undisturbed sample ) collected from each borehole or alternate & staggered boreholes and representative of each soil stratum as directed by the EIC.
Evaluation of Liquefaction Potential based on the other tests conducted in laboratory on undisturbed or remoulded samples of soil. ' NOTE: The UDS shall correspond to each soil stratum. Hence can be decided only after receipt of borelog data. Test to be done in each or alternate boreholes and 2 samples assumed per borehole.and as decided by the design Engineer.
Section (III) Laboratory tests on Rock Carrying out petrographic examination of rock sample as per ASTM: C-295 for determination of core recovery, rock quality designation and rock mass rating in each borehole, for each rock stratum and submission of test result as directed by EIC.
Determination of water content, Porosity and density [saturated surface dry &wet condition], specific gravity by conducting Caliper,Buoyancy,Mercury Displacement techniques as per IS: 13030-1991(Reaffirmed 2001) . The test is to be conducted on one or more rock sample representative of each rocky stratum collected from each borehole.
Conducting Water absorption test as per IS: 1124-1974( Reaffirmed 2003) to evaluate water absorption . The test is to be conducted on one or more RS representative of each rocky stratum collected from each/alternate borehole.
Carrying out Unconfined compression strength (UCS) test on soaked & unsoaked samples for determination of Poisson's ratio,modulus of elasticity ,shear modulus as per IS:9221-1979(reaffirmed 2001)along with unconfined compressive strength,safe bearing pressure of rock sample as per IS: 9143-1979(reaffirmed2001)in each borehole and submission of test result as directed by EIC.

Carrying out triaxial compression test for determination of triaxial compressive strength, cohesion and angle of internal friction as per IS:13047-1991(reaffirmed 2010) along with modulus of elasticity, stress-strain behavior as per ISRM- SM 1983 ,ASTM:D2664 and submission of test result as directed by EIC.
Construction of pillars at as directed in Brick work in CM 1:5 of size 345 mm X 345 mm with plain cement concrete of 1:5:10 base coarse of 100 mm thick. Brick work shall be 200 mm height below ground level and 400 mm height above ground level .Top surface of the pillar shall be plaster with CM 1:5 12 mm thick with floating coat of neat cement slurry and marking the co-orinates in paint. The rate includes required earth work etc complete .The work shall be as per specification and as per direction of Engineer in charge
Section (IV) Reports 'Preparation and submission of Three (3) hard & soft copies(on DVD) of Draft reports as specified followed by Five (5) hard copies of Final report of Geotechnical Investigations as detailed in specifications along with 6 soft copies of the same on the DVD. 'Note: 1. Final Report to be submitted shall include recommendations for the geotechnical investigation consisting of deliverables as per FORMAT - 2 which will be issued to the successful bidders. '2. Geotech Investigations for Soils and Rock will be carried out to evaluate the different type of test values as per FORMAT - 1 which will be issued to the successful bidders.
PART-B-Geophysical Investigation: Conducting streaming potential method consists of measuring the electrical potential by flowing water within a structure or subsurface till existing Aquifer. The tests at each locations shall be conducted as a series of tests with appropriate electrodes array. All as per the specification and as directed by Engineer. Setting up equipment at each location including moves between positions, locating and marking the location on the ground by actual survey (by using precision position instruments such as GPS and Total Station), setting up all field test equipment, making area good for setting up etc.
The report should provide a clear explanation of the data interpretation methodology, including how raw data was processed and any assumptions made. All raw and interpreted data, including measurements and test results, must be provided in a readable digital format, along with any supporting data files. It should summarize the key findings, such as the groundwater table depth, direction of groundwater flow, and aquifer characteristics, supported by relevant charts, tables, and visual aids. The report must also include an analysis of the groundwater table depth at the subject site, based on field measurements or other reliable data sources, and determine the direction of groundwater flow using appropriate hydrological methods. Additionally, the report should outline the experimental procedures used to assess the aquifers' hydrological parameters, including the instruments and techniques for data collection, as well as the steps taken to analyze groundwater movement, permeability, and storage properties.
