Rehabilitation of Runway Works
Demolition of paved bituminous runway surfaces including aggregates as in base course by mechanical means (hydraulic excavator) over areas and getting out and removal of debris to a distance exc 500mtr but not exc 1.50 Km complete all as specified and directed by Engineer-in-Charge.
Scarifying or picking gravelled macadam, WBM and soling surfaces in areas exc 400sqm, thickness upto 300mm by mechanical means and stacking at pulverising plant for reuse in shoulders, within a distance of upto 1.50 km complete all as specified and directed by Engineer-in-Charge.
Demolition of cement concrete (PQC) of any description and in any position with homogeneous cutting at end of slab in proper shape without disturbing the surrounding slab with by cutting with mechanically operated diamond cutter including removal of debris to a distance exc 500mtr but not exc 1.5Km and depositing where directed by Engineer-in-Charge.
Forming embankments including raising (or lowering) earth, spreading in layers not exceeding 150mm thick, watering, ramming/ rolling compacting earth each layer by using vibratory roller of capacity 10 to 12 tonne and power roller 8-10 tonnes and finishing to required size, shape, etc., not exceeding 1.5m high from base using material obtained from excavation srl item No. 1.01 & 4.02 here-in-before. Notes : (a) A modified proctor density 98% at optimum moisture content for soaked CBR of 3.1% and "K" value of 5 kg / sqcm/ cm shall be achieved. (b) The embankment shall be finished to required gradient /camber. (c) No deduction shall be made for bulkage for embankment. (d) Forming embankment shall be as per MORTH specifications. (e) Earth should be free from grass & roots, well segregated earth from other foreign materials.
Providing approved earth (earth and cement to be got approved from GE before laying) obtained from excavation from item No 1.01 here-in-before at site including blending, sieving and segregating grass and other foreign materials, laying and spreading soil 300mm (compacted thickness) in sub grade level in two layers (spreading & consolidating each layer with 8 to 12 tonne power roller and 10-12 tonne vibratory roller), pulverising, blending of cement with soil stabilization by mixing of cement as per the designed soil mix (to be carried out by any IIT/ NIT Jalandhar). The composition of layers shall be as under:- (a) Bottom 150mm layer : Spreading, levelling, watering, ramming, pulverising, blending of cement as per design mix at OMC in-situ with rotavator & motor grader (quantity of cement to be decided as per approved designed soil mix from any IIT/ NIT Jalandhar) and compacted in layers such that each layer shall not be less than 100 mm thick & not more than 150 mm thick and rolled with 10 to 12 tonnes vibratory roller to achieve the desired K value as mentioned below. (b) Top 150mm layer: Soil blended with cement and OMC in WMM plant (quantity of cement to be decided as per approved designed soil mix from any IIT/ NIT Jalandhar) and then spread at site, levelled with mechanical paver/motor grader, compacted in layers such that each layer shall not be less than 100mm thick & not more than 150mm thick and rolled with 08 to 10 tonne power roller and10-12 tonne vibratory roller to achieve the desired K value as mentioned in Note below. Note:-(a) The above shall be executed to achieve the desired K value of 5 Kg/ cm²/cm as per relevant paras of Chapter 4 of IRC:SP:89-2010 for cement stabilization complete all as specified and directed by Engineer-in-Charge. (Cement to be used shall be OPC 43 Gde and shall be measured and paid as supply only in Srl item No. 4.06 here-in-after for cement content as per design requirement (b) Before carrying out Soil stabilisation using cement, runway subgrade has to be compacted to 200mm and levelled and compacted to desired profile.
Supply only Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) Grade 43 at site of work complete all as specified and directed by Engineer-in-Charge. Note:- This item is for soil stabilization required vide srl item No 4.05 here-in-before
Material and labour for Granular sub base (GSB) with grading-V (specifications as per TI 01/2018), 150mm thick (compacted thickness) in single layer conforming to grading as specified, spread, rolled and consolidated to required gradient and camber complete using necessary mechanical paver/ grader and vibratory roller of capacity 10-12 tonne all as specified and as directed. Note:- (a) Cost of rolling and compaction of filled granular sub-base is also deemed to be included in the unit rate quoted under this item. (b) Payment shall be made for solid quantity arrived after consolidation. (c) Compaction of granular sub base filling shall be carried out under optimum moisture conditions to achieve 98% of modified proctor density. (d) Curing shall be carried out as per IRC recommendations. (e) Before execution of this item the approved material obtained from outside MD land shall be tested / checked for suitability to use. The lead / royalty involved is to be ascertained by the contractor before quoting his tender and no extra payment / adjustment for increase in lead or rate of royalty due to whatsoever reason shall be admissible on this account. (f) Contractor shall use vibratory earth compactor in lieu of power roller to achieve 98% modified proctor density (MPD) at OMC without any extra cost and method of compaction to be adopted as per recommendation of agency reporting max density at OMC. (g) Separate WMM, GSB and Concrete batching plant to be established and rates of the same is inclusive in rates quoted.
Material and labour for Wet Mix Macadam (WMM) 150 mm minimum thickness (compacted thickness) in single layer (specifications as per TI 01/2018) to achieve required density as per MORTH with coarse granite stone graded aggregate of specified grade along with binding materials like stone dust, spread, rolled and consolidated to required gradient and camber complete using necessary mechanical sensor paver/ grader and smooth wheeled roller of capacity exceeding 8 to 12 tonne capacity all as specified and as directed. Note : Separate WMM, GSB and Concrete batching plant to be established and rates of the same is inclusive in rates quoted
Providing and laying Dry Lean Concrete (DLC) 150mm thick having compressive strength not less than 7 Mpa at 7 days for each consecutive group of 5 cubes, individual strength of each cube must not be less than 5.5 MPs at 7 days (Para 4.1 IRC:SP:49-2014). (Grading and other parameters as per Table 1 (IRC:SP:40-2014). Minimum cement content must not be less than 140 Kg/cum (Para 4.2 IRC:SP:49-2014) mixed in batching plant, transported to site and laid by sensor paver including spreading and compacting using double drum smooth wheeled rollers with 80-100 KN of static/ vibratory capacity including necessary formwork, finishing etc complete all as specified and directed. Notes : (a) Cement to be used shall be OPC-43 Gde only. (b) Separate WMM, GSB and Concrete batching plant to be established and rates of the same is inclusive in rates quoted. Notes for Srl item No. 4.05, 4.07, 4.08 & 4.09 (Rigid payment items) : Extra width required on either side of layers for movement of paver, T&P etc shall be provided by the Contractor at his own cost & nothing extra shall be admissible on this account. The rate quoted for these items shall deemed to be included the same. No claim whatsoever shall be entertained on this account of any stage.
Material and labour for 210mm thick Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC) of minimum field Flexural Strength of 4.5 Mpa lower control limit (LCL) at 28 days in pavement slab using minimum 400 kg of cement per cum as per IRC 44 mixed with non-circular synthetic fibre (as per generic specification given by E-in-C's Br) by mechanical means at the rate of 0.25% by weight of cement per cum (or as specified by firm) of PQC. PQC must be laid, spread and compacted with slip-form paver. Curing by mechanical equipment, Texturing-cum-curing machine (TCM) including finishing of surfaces complete all as specified and directed by Engineer-in-Charge. Notes : (a) Cement to be used shall be OPC Gde-43 only (b) Separate WMM,GSB and Concrete batching plant to be established and rates of the same is inclusive in rates quoted.
Supplying and laying 400 micron thick HDPE sheet (Virgin Quality) having minimum weight 390 gm/sqm over sand cushion as specified in the design with overlap between adjacent strips as minimum 300mm and transverse joints at ends as minimum 300mm etc complete as specified and directed. Note : No addl payment for overlap will be made & contractor shall note this aspect while quoting the rate.
Material and labour for providing, spreading, laying 10mm thick sand cushion over area for PQC laying with clean river sand duly clear from residual, organic and deleterious materials spread evenly to uniform thickness laid over DLC layer. The sand cushion must not contain stones/ other hard or uneven material/organic matter as specified and directed by Engineer-in-Charge and approved by GE.

Notes : (a) The unit rate shall include for protection pipe, GI water pipe, wire mesh, funnel and excavation. (b) PCC pit shall be provided at least 50 cm away from the earth pit and not just on the earth pit and extra cost of additional length of water pipes and fittings, junction, elbow etc shall be deemed to be included in the unit rate. (c) If the testing result of earthing work is not been found satisfactory then the contractor shall do other earthing work at his own cost and nothing shall be permissible on this account.
