M&L, Chemical earthing complete with copper plate electrode 600mm x 600mm x 3mm thick buried directly in the ground (earth pit not less than 3m deep below normal ground level) with top edge of earth plate not less than 2.25m below ground level, connected to copper strip 32mm x 6mm as main earthing lead by brazing duly protected by 40mm dia GI pipe medium grade and covered upto 7.5 metre long by means of tinned copper/ brass bolts nuts check nuts, and by washers besides brazing at allayers of salt, charcoal and magnesium sulphate including funnel with wire mesh including testing of earthing all as specified and directed by Engineer in Charge.

Copper strip shall be brazed with copper plate electrode.

Alternate layers of charcoal and salts shall be laid in the earth pit on the top of copper plate minimum 5 layers shall be laid.

After laying 5 alternate layers of charcoal and salts, minimum two inch layer of magnesium sulphate shall be laid.

Chemical, salt and magnesium sulphate shall not be mixed but are to laid in layers only.

Copper strip is to be extended inside the equipment and power room and shall be routed in the side wall of the under ground ducts fixed with ceramics/porcelain spacers.

Contractor shall pour sufficient water in earth pit before and after doing earthing.

25mm dia GI light grade pipe of suitable length to reach just above copper plated fitted with funnel meshed along with cap to be provided for keeping the soil wet.

Brass bolts and nuts with proper washers to be used for copper strip jointing and necessary brazing shall be done all as directed.

Copper earth strip beyond 7.5m will be measured and paid separately.

The test point for each pit shall be made as directed and cost of the same is deemed to be included in quoted rate.

Test reports shall be submitted in Triplicate duly signed by all concerned.

Construction of earth pit chamber shall be with PCC 1:3:6 type C1 using 20mm graded stone aggregate, 50mm thick RCC cover in 1:2:4, type B-1 (using 20mm graded stone aggregate) reinforced with 8mm dia bars 8 Nos both ways with handle made out of 12mm dia round bar.

M&L, copper earth strip 32 x 6mm buried in ground or fixed on wall or drawn through pipe or fixed to poles or any other indicated situation for earthing complete all as specified and as directed. Note: Quoted rate shall deemed to include cost of earthwork excavation.
