Provision of Consultancy Services for Topographical Survey and Soil Investigation for Extension of Runway at INS Kohassa

M & L for Cutting Bushes / Plants / Vegetation etc. of Girth not exceeding 30 cm and of any height and of any description by suitable means [Manually or Mechanically] and safety arrangements to facilitate Topographic Surveying and Geo Technical Investigation including Stacking the cut materials and / or disposal / removing of all the materials obtained from cutting as directed by the Forest Department to a distance exceeding 5.00 KM and not exceeding 10.00 KM and depositing in low laying areas outside the MD Land complete all as specified and as directed. Note: All the materials retrieved from the Cutting of Bushes / Plants / Vegetation shall become the property of the Forest Department of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and shall be disposed off as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge and Forest Department. No claim whatsoever shall be entertained on this account. The girth of the trees shall be measured at 1.00 metre above ground level. However, the trunk shall be cut as low as possible and the trunk shall not protrude more than 10cm above natural ground level. Area of site clearance shall be as decided by the Engineer-in-Charge and representative of Users. The rates quoted shall be deemed to be inclusive of the provisions contained in Schedule “A” Notes and Particular Specifications and nothing shall be paid extra on this account. The description of the item shall be read in conjunction with the provisions contained in Schedule “A” Notes and Particular Specifications.

M & L for Topographical and Contour Survey of entire Area of Runway Extension complete all as specified and as directed. The broad scope includes the following:

Reconnaissance to get broad view of the entire area for planning of survey and to know the details of various structures and utilities like Roads, Streams, Creeks, Hills, Installations, Permanent Structures, Green Belt Areas, etc.

Conducting detailed topographical survey at a Grid Interval of 5.00 m and Contour Interval of 0.50 m to provide accurate base line data with all existing Permanent Infrastructure/Utilities, including allocation of boundary, locating all the existing Roads, Streams, Creeks, Hills, Installations, Permanent Structures, Green Belt Areas, etc. from various sources and comparison of the available data at site for confirmation using Electronic Total Station.

Flying the levels from the nearest GTS Mark up to the site and establishing FOUR Permanent Bench Marks on a permanent concrete structure and taking levels at required locations.

Preparation of drawings with all the features on 1:1000 scale in AUTOCAD format and superimposing the details of Roads, Streams, Creeks, Hills in different colours for plotting the details as and when required.

Preparation of Location Plan / Site Plan on 1:8000 scale in AUTOCAD format highlighting the Roads, Streams, Creeks, Hills, Installations, Permanent Structures, Green Belt Areas, etc.

Digitalisation of entire data by presenting in different layers to get the complete view, and submission of soft copies.

Drawings shall clearly indicate the flow direction, slope, Cross section of the Streams, Creeks, etc. throughout their length.

Preparation of Conceptual Project Report incorporating all the above factors with maps of topography, contour, geotechnical resolution complete all as directed. The contractor shall also submit Videographic and Photographic Record [03 Copies] along with 6 Sets of Hard Copies duly signed before claiming payment.

Site clearance consisting of Cutting Bushes / Plants / Vegetation etc. to facilitate Topographic Surveying and Geo Technical Investigation including Stacking the cut materials and / or disposal / removing of all the materials obtained from cutting as directed by the Forest Department and Engineer-in-Charge shall be measured and paid separately under respective Items of this BoQ.

M & L for Boring 150 mm Nominal Diameter Borehole at Various Locations in all types of soil and soft rock to any depth as directed by the GE using suitable approved method of boring including chiselling, cleaning, providing casing pipes as required or as directed for carrying out various tests and collection of various samples complete all as specified and as directed.

M & L for Carrying out Standard Penetration Test [SPT] as per IS – 2131 including Collection of Disturbed Soil Samples in Bore Holes at every 1.00m depth or any Change of Strata, transportation of all the collected samples to the Laboratory, back filling of Boreholes with sand on completion of the same etc. Preparation and submission of Draft Report in 3 Copies and Final Report in 6 Sets of Hard Copies and 6 Sets of Soft Copies on CDs after the approval of Draft Report including all Field Records, Laboratory Test Results, Graphs, Analysis of Test Results and Recommendation etc. complete all as specified and as directed.

M & L for Collection of Undisturbed Soil Sample [UDS] / Disturbed Samples [DS] / Standard Penetration Test [SPT] Samples at every 3.00m interval or at any change of Strata in 150mm bore thin Walled Tube including Waxing, Sealing, Packing, Transporting to the Lab and conducting following Tests Preparation and submission of Draft Report in 3 Copies and Final Report in 6 Sets of Hard Copies and 6 Sets of Soft Copies on CDs after the approval of Draft Report including all Field Records, Laboratory Test Results, Graphs, Analysis of Test Results and Recommendation for Foundations etc. complete all as specified and as directed: [a] Shrinkage Limit [b] Atterberg Limits [c] Natural Moisture Content [d] Wet and Dry Density [e] Particle Size [Soil Grain Size / Hydrometer Analysis] [f] Tri – Axial Shear Test [g] Specific Gravity Test [h] Direct Shear Test [i] Free Sweel Index [j] Crushing Strength of Rock Sample

M & L for Collection of Disturbed Samples [DS] at every 1.00m depth at an interval of every 60 metres covering a distance of 2000 metres, including Waxing, Sealing, Packing, Transporting to the Lab and conducting following Tests Preparation and submission of Draft Report in 3 Copies and Final Report in 6 Sets of Hard Copies and 6 Sets of Soft Copies on CDs after the approval of Draft Report including all Field Records, Laboratory Test Results, Graphs, Analysis of Test Results and Recommendation for Foundations etc. complete all as specified and as directed: [a] Shrinkage Limit [b] Atterberg Limits [c] Particle Size [Soil Grain Size] [d] Free Swell Index [e] CBR Test [f] Modulus of Soil Reaction [K Value]

Note for Serial Item No. 3 to 6 of BoQ: The rate quoted for Serial Item No. 3 to 6 of BoQ is deemed to be inclusive of the following:

Mobilisation of necessary Plant & Machinery, Equipment, Men and Materials as required to the Project Site for carrying out the Geotechnical Investigation and Demobilisation of the same after completion of all the Field Works etc. all complete all as specified and as directed.

Arrangement for Drilling / Boring shall be made and open pits are not allowed under any circumstances. Special attention to following clauses of the IS Code is invited while carrying out SPT:

Equipment used shall provide a clean bore hole, 150 mm in dia to ensure that the Standard Penetration Test is performed on Undisturbed Soil and shall permit driving of Split Spoon Sampler to obtain Penetration Record along with Samples as specified in IS code of practice.

While driving casing, it shall not be driven below the level at which the test is to be carried out or from where the sample is to be taken.

In case wash boring is adapted for cleaning of the borehole, only side-discharge bits are permitted; a bottom discharge bit is not permitted while boring through soils which may get disturbed by flow of water while boring above water table level.

Shifting and transportation of entire arrangement including men, materials from one Bore to another Bore including and setting of bore for carrying out the test.

Collection of undisturbed samples at specified depth interval as well as at any change of strata, including waxing, sealing, packing, transporting of sample collected to Testing Laboratory as required for the purpose of Testing and their Preservation.

Compilation of Data, Field and Laboratory Test Reports, and Preparation and submission of Report as per As per NBC 2016 / Relevant IS in 6 Sets of Hard Copies and 6 Sets of Soft Copies containing Scope of Investigation, Method of Drilling Boreholes, Sampling from Borehole, Visual Description of Soil Sample, Ground Levels along with Ground Water Table Levels, Test Results [both Laboratory and Field] including Graphs, Photographs of Equipment including Drilling/Boring Rigs and Samples Collected, Section Profile of Sub Strata, Analysis of Field and Lab Investigation Results, Net Safe Bearing Capacity [NSBC], Safe Bearing Capacity [SBC] at Particular Depths considering effect of Water Table, incorporating Type of Soil in Pressure Bulb Zone, Highest Water Table and Settlement Test Results, Detailed Calculations of SBC and Recommended SBC, CBR Test Results, Modulus of Soil Reaction [K Value], Graphs, Charts, Calculations, Drawings etc. and Recommendation for Foundations etc.

Furnishing SBC Report including recording SBC for each location for the type of foundation and maintaining photographic record. Submission of detailed recommendation for shallow foundation and bearing capacity of soil [SBC] at various depths, Type of foundation and depths of footing be clearly specified.

The final report shall be vetted / checked before submission to the department by any Indian Institute of Technology / National Institute of Technology / Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee / Structural Engineering Research Centre, Chennai under their own arrangements, before finalization of report. A certificate to this effect shall be furnished to the department before claiming payment.

The contractor shall submit Videographic and Photographic Record [03 Copies] along with 6 Sets of Hard Copies duly signed including Soil Investigation Report for visual description of Soil Samples and Traverse Section Profiles of Substrata before claiming payment.
