Technical specification of weld overlay wear plates for Conv. 1A/1B to Conv. 2A /2B chute:-
Base plate thick-16 mm, IS-2062, Grade B (MS) and 4 mm hard facing on one side.
Hardness- 62 HRC Min.
Alloy basis:- C(3.25-4.55), Mn(0.40-0.70), Si(1.0-2.0), Cr(16-20), B(0.22-.072), W
% of primary carbide-35-40%, % of Eutectic carbide-24-29%
% of Mar tensile- 14-20%, % of Austenite – 15-20%
Tolerance of hard facing Thk. Shall be +/- 0.5 to 1 mm.
Wear resistance compare to MS for hard layer only-35 times.
Material should be supplied with weld metallurgy with primary
Carbide as chromium carbide & Eutectic Carbide along with austenite and marten site with bas plate of IS 2062 Grade “B”
And this metallurgy will retain its hardness even at temperature of 400 deg. C and resist wear due to erosion. The weld overlay will have C, Si, Mn, Cr, B &W as element uniformly distributed throughout the matrix giving surface resistance capacity towards extreme wear.
