The existing 110/33/11kV S/S Murdeswar is fed from 110/33/11kV S/S Honnavar with peak load of 19MW, on 110kV Honnavar-Murdeswar SC line on SC tower. 110/33/11kV S/S Honnavar is fed from 110/33/11kV S/S Kumata by LILO arrangement. 110/33/11kV S/S Kumata is fed from 2X100MVA, 220kV R/S Karwar on 110kV Karwar- Kumata SC line on SC tower with peak load of 57MW. During the contingence, the existing 110/33/11kV S/S Kumata is also fed from 110/11kV S/S Sirsi on 110kV Sirsi- Kumata DC line. Uttar Kannada district geographically comprises of thick forests, rivers & Sea belt. There are 2 No.s of Sub-station namely 33/11kV S/S Bhatkal & 110/33/11kV S/S Murdeswar in Bhatkal Taluk. The 33/11kV S/S Bhatkal having capacity of 4x5MVA transformer with a peak load of 13.5MW. It is fed from 110/33/11kV S/S Murdeswar on 33kV SC line for a distance of 16.536km. Bhatkal taluk and surrounding villages are fed from 33/11kV S/S Bhatkal by 10 Nos. of 11kV feeders namely 11kV Urban, 11kV Semi Urban, 11kV Marukeri, 11kV Belke, 11kV Tengingundi, 11kV Sagar Road,11kV Jali, 11kV Nirkantha, 11kV Sarpankatte & 11kV kamakshi with a peak load of 110Amps, 170Amp, 100 Amps, 120Amps, 52Amp, 120Amps, 50Amps, 20Amps, 87Amps &35Amps, respectively. Bifurcation of existing feeders/ Drawing express line from 33/11kV S/S Bhatkal cannot be possible, due to space constraint for augmentation of associated 11kV & 33kV lines, because of existing residential buildings, Mosque, Schools around the existing 33kV Sub-station. Hence there is no alternative arrangement for augmentation. Further all 11kV feeders are reconductored by rabbit conductor. Since Bhatkal is one of most sensitive area in Karnataka state.
4th 5MVA, 33/11kV Transformer was commissioned in the month og March-2025. because of overloading of existing transformer. Since the load is drastically increasing day by day. It is not managabe even by existing 4 no. of 5MVA, 33/11kV Transformers.Whenever main supply fails or Maintenance work scheduled in the 33/11 kV Bhatkal sub-station , load shedding on few 11kV lines shall be imposed till the normalcy of load on all 4 No. 5 MVA, 33/11kV Transformer achieved. Further, construction of 2X10MVA, 110/11kV sub-station is under progress at Bhatkal. Due to some constarint like forest , private land through which proposed 110kV line pases , the work has been slown down. Even , 110kV Bhatkal Sub-station come inforse, the existing 33/11kV Sub-station shall be retained to cater the future load growth of Bhatkal taluk. At present load can not be cattered effectively by existing 4 no. of 5MVA, 33/11kV Transformers, it is necessary to replace the 2 No. of 5MVA, 33/11kV Transformers by 2 No. of 8MVA, 33/11kV Transformers. All the necessary provisions for materials & labour, Civil works, fencing and leveling of land and transportation are made in this estimate. This work is to be included in the annual capital budget-2025-26. Hence this estimate may kindly be sanctioned at an early date.
