Preparation of Sub grade complete in all respect as per MORT&H specifications (5th. Revision .2013) Loosening, Leveling & Compacting original ground supporting embankment to facilitate placement of 1st layer of Sub grade.
Providing & laying spreading and compacting Granular Sub Base 260mm thick in two layer of (with thickness of single layer not exceeding 200mm compacted) of natural sand, crushed gravel, crushed stone, crushed slag or combination thereof depending upon the grading required. Use of material like brick metal, Kankar & crushed concrete shall be permitted in the lower sub base. The material shall be free from organic or other deleterious constituents and shall conform to the gading given in Table 400-1 and physical requirements given in Table 400-2 grading III and IV shall preferably be used in lower sub base. Grading V & VI shall be used as a sub base-cum-drainages layer. Where the sub base is laid in two layers as upper sub base & lower sub base, the thickness of each layer shall not be less than 150mm transportation of material and spreading on the prepared sub grade with help of motor grader to required slopes and grades with moisture contents 1% to 2% the optimum moisture content and rolling with static smooth wheeled roller (80-100KN) in case compacted layer does not exceed 100mm and with vibratory roller (of minimum 80-100 KN) for compacted layer not exceeding 250mm to achieve field density not less than 98% of maximum dry density determined in laboratory, checking for any high spots or depressions which become apparent corrected by removal or adding fresh material, including cost of tools and plants, templates, barriers, lighting arrangements at night maintenance of diversions, regulation of traffic etc. complete in all respects as per MORT&H specification 401, as per drawing, instructions and to the entire satisfaction of Engineer, Quality Control of work and arrangement of traffic shall be maintained as pr section 900 & clause 112 of MORT&H specifications 5th revision 2013 respectively. The protection of edges of granular sub base extended over the full formation as shown in the drawing shall be considered incidental to the work of providing and laying GSB and no extra payment shall be made for the same. Rate shall be paid as per clause 401.8 of MORT&H specifications (5th revision) 2013. as per MORT&H specification 401, as per drawing, instructions and to the entire satisfaction of Engineer. Quality Control of work and arrangement of traffic shall be maintained as per section 900 & clause 112 of MORT&H specifications- 2001 (up to date revision) respectively. The protection of edges of granular sub base extended over the full formation as shown in the drawing shall be considered incidental to the work of providing and laying GSB and no extra payment shall be made for the same. Rate shall be paid as per clause 401.8 of MORT&H specifications (5th .Reviesion.2013).
Providing, laying, spreading & compacting clean, crushed, graded aggregate & Granular material premixed with water to dense mass on a prepared sub grade/sub base/base or existing pavement as the case may be with the requirtments of these specifications. The martial shall be laid in one or more layers as necessary to lines, grades cross sections shown on the approved Drawings or as directed by the engineer. The thickness of single compacted Wet Mix Macadam layer shall not be less then 75mm whan vibrating or other approved types of compacted equipment are used. The compacted depth of a single layer of the sub base course may be upto 200m m with the approval of the engineer. Wet Mix Macadam prepared in approved mixing Plant to suitable capacity having provision for controlled addition of water and forced/positive mixing arrangement like Pug mill, 250mm thick in suitable two layers of 125/125 thick each, with materials conforming to physical requirement laid in Table 400-13 and grading laid in Table 400-13 of M.O.R.T.& H specifications, spreading by a Paver Finisher as per clause 406.3.4 to the required thickness, slopes, grades and rolling with smooth wheel roller ( 80-100KN) for compacted single layer does not exceed 250 mm and vibratory roller (80-100 KN ) for layer upto 250mm till density achieved is 98% of maximum dry density in laboratory, checking for any high spot corrected by removal or adding fresh material including cost of tool and plants, template, barriers, lighting arrangement at night, maintenance of diversion, regulation of traffic etc. complete in all respects as poer M.O.R.T.& H specifications clause No 406 as per instructions and to the entire satisfaction of Engineer, Arrangement of quality control and traffic arrangement shall be done as per section 900 and clause 112 of Ministry of Road Transport & Highways . (5th Revision.2013) respectively.
Providing and applying Prime Coat with bitumen emulsion (slow setting packed) on prepared surface of granular (WMM) base including cleaning of road surface and spraying primer at the rate of 6 kg / 10sqm. using mechanical means as per MORT&H specifications clause 502 (5 th. Revision 2013) complete in all respects.
Providing and applying tack coat with VG-10 before laying 50mm thick DBM & BC as per I:S 8887 with approval of Engineer @ 0.25 Kg. Per Sqm. area over prime coat surface with pneumatic tyred self propelled pressure sprayer equipped arrangement, suitable pump, adequate capacity compressor and spraying bar with nozzles for spraying material uniformly at specified rate including all kind of material and labour inclusive of cleaning of surface free from dust, dirt and any extraneous materials including curing as per requirements including cost of barriers, lighting arrangements at night, maintenance of diversion, and regulation of traffic etc. complete in all respects as per Ministry of Road Transport & Highways specifications Clause No. 503 (5th Revision.2013) .
Providing and laying Dense Bituminous Macadam (Grading-2) in single layers of 75/50 mm compacted thickness in a single course after applying tack coat @ 0.25 Kg. per Sqm. Area on black top surface over the base previously prepared in accordance with Ministry of Road Transport & Highways specifications (5th revision) after mixing the aggregate and VG-40 Grade bulk Bitumen @4.5%. by weight of total mix in a Electronic operated hot Batch type hot mix plant as per approved mix and laying the same over black top surface with electronic sensor paver in accordance with clause 505of Ministry of Road Transport & Highways specification Fifth Revision (2013) for Dense Bitumen Macadam. After spreading of the mix as per clause 505.4.8, the entire surface during the operations shall be rolled with road roller of 8-10 tonne and then 6-8 tonne smooth wheeled tandem roller (static weight) as per 505.4.9. Through unit rate for this item includes the cost of aggregate, bitumen, fuel for heating bitumen in a boiler, premixing of stone aggregate and bitumen in a Hot Mix plant and carriage from hot plant to site of work, templates, barrier, lighting arrangement and sundries etc. and the execution of the work shall confirm to clause 505 of Ministry of Road Transport & Highways specifications for Road and Bridge works (5th Revision 2013) The Dense Bitumen Macadam for the purpose of payments shall be measured in Cubic Meter.
The contract unit rate shall be all specified in Ci. 505.9 Except that the rate shall include the provision of bitumen @ 4.5% by weight of total mix.
IF bitumen/binder content requirement more than as specified in BOQ & Ministry spec. for R&B (5th Rev). No extra payment will be made. The extra bitumen/binder Content will be considered as incidental to work.
The contract unit rate for Dense Bituminous Macadam shall be payment in full for carrying out the required operations as specified The rate shall include for , all components listed in Clause 501.8.8.2 (I) to (xi) of Ministry of Road Transport & Highways specification for Road Bridge works 5th . Revision.2013 Before starting the work, the contractor shall propose different percentage of different sizes of coarse and fine aggregate whack be intends to mix on order to get required grading The same will be approved by the Engineer-in-Charge after carrying out the required tests. The proportions so approved shall be termed design job Mix Formula after approval of job Mix Formula.
1 The execution of Dense Bituminous Macadam will be done only after approval of job Mix Formula from the competent authority i.e. Engineer-in-Charge.
2. Apart from the conformity with the grading and quantity requirement of individual ingredients, the mix aggregate i.e. stone metal, crushed bajri and fine aggregates for Dense bituminous Macadam course (Gradind-2) for 50mm/75mm thickness shall meet all requirement set forth in clause 505 of Ministry of Road Transport & Highway specifications Road & Bridge Works 5th Revision 2013.
3. The final grading for aggregate required for Bituminous Macadam course (Grading-2) of 50mm/75mm thickness confirming to Table 500-10 of Ministry of Road Transport & Highways specification for Road & highways specifications for Road and Bridge works 5th. Revision (2013) shall be determined by the Engineering Charge after getting Bituminous macadam (Grading-2) designed from either C.R.R.I, New Delhi or Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh or Punjab P.W.D. laboratory, Patiala or any other reputed laboratory approved by Chief Engineer, Punjab, PWD B&R Brach, Patiala after obtaining 60% of the materials for the required grading at plant site. The design mix so finally approved by the Engineer-in-Charge shall be termed as approved job Mix Formula if it is within permissible limits.
4. The approved mix shall exhibit the following details, Source and location of all materials.
4.1 Binder VG-40 Grade Bulk Bitumen expressed as percentage by weight of total mix.
4.2 stone aggregate of 26.5 mm gauge expressed as a percentage by weight of total mix.
4.3 Crushed bajri of 11.2 mm guage expressed as a percentage by weight of total mix.
4.4 Fine aggregate expressed as a percentage by weight of total mix.
4.5 A single definite percentage passing the each sieve for the mix aggregate.
4.6 Filler expressed as a %age by weight of total mix.
4.7 Density of Dense Bituminous Macadam in laboratory should not be less than 2.30 gm/cc
5. The contractor thereafter shall be required to complete the supply of various in –gradients mentioned above from approved quarry/sources as per norms & conditions for Dense Bituminous Macadam course (Grading-2) of 50/75 mm thickness as per proportions stipulated in the approved job Mix Formula.
6. The contractor, shall start laying work only after achieving the required mixing temperature of the Mix and same be got duly checked from engineer or his authorized representative.
Providing & laying Bituminous Concrete 40 mm compacted thickness in a single course after applying tack coat 0.25 Kg. per Sqm after mixing the aggregate and CRMB-55 Bitumen in a Electronic operated batch type hot mix plant as per approved mix and laying the same with the help of electronic sensor paver as per MORT&H specifications.
After spreading of the mix as per clause 507.4.7, entire surface during the operations shall be rolled with road rolled 8-10 tonne (smooth wheeled) followed with vibratory road rolled 8-10 tonne static weight, followed by finished rolling with 6-8 tonne smooth wheel tendon rolled as per clause Nos.507.4.8. The Through unit rate for this item includes the cost of aggregate, bitumen, filler fuel for heating bitumen in a boiler, premixing of stone aggregate and bitumen in a electronic Operated Batch type Hot Mix
The Bituminous Concrete for the purpose of payment shall be measured in Cubic Meter.

2 The final grading for the aggregate required for bituminous concrete (Grading-2) of 40mm thickness conforming to table 500-17 of MORT&H specifications 5th Revision shall be determined by the Engineer in charge after getting the Bituminous Concrete (Grading-2) (designed from either CRRI, New Delhi or Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, Punjab Laboratory Patiala or any other reputed laboratory approved by Chief Engineer, Pb.PWD (B&R) Branch after obtaining 60% of the design mix so finally approved by the Engineer in charge shall be termed as approved job Mix Formula if it is within permissible limits.
3. The approved mix shall exhibit the following details.
i Source and location of all materials.
ii. Binder CRMB-55 expressed as percentage by weight of total mix.
iii. Crushed bajri of 11.2mm & 13.2mmGauge expressed as a percentage by weight of total mix.
iv. Fine aggregate expressed as a percentage by weight of total mix.
v. Filler expressed as a percentage by weight of total mix.
vi. A single definite percentage passing the each sieve for the mix.
vii. Density of Bituminous concrete in laboratory should not be less than. 2.36 gm/cc.
4. The contractor, thereafter, shall be required to complete the supply of various-in-gradients from an approved quarry/sources mentioned above for Bituminous Concrete as per proportions stipulated in the approved job Mix Formula.
Providing and Marking centre line edge line road with HOT applied thermoplastic compound 2.50mm thick on bituminous surface including refectories glass beads @ 250gms per sqm area by machine including traffic control arrangements as per IRC-35 corrected up to date the finish surface to be level finish and free from streaks and holes complete in all respect such as furnishing all labor, material tools equipment’s including all incidental costs necessary for carrying out the work at site conforms to technical specifications complete in all respect as per MORT&H specification (5th Rev. 2013).
Providing & Fixing Cat eyes on centre line edge line etc. As per MORT&H specifications and the Satisfaction of Engineer incharge complete in all respect.
Providing & fixing 1200x900mm sign Board with retro reflective high intensity grade micro prismatic sheeting Type XI as per ASTM D 4956.09 (conforming to latest MORT&H specifications & circulars two legged cautionary sign board 1200x900mm Complete as per IRC 67-2012 as per MORT&H specification (5th Rev. 2013).
