Scarifying or picking gravelled, macadam or bituminous macadam surfaces in area exceeding 400 sqm, depth of pot hole exceeding 50 mm but not exceeding 100 mm including rolling over the broken surfaces using 8 to 10 tonnes power roller to required camber and gradient complete all as specified and as directed.

M & L for 7.5 cm thick (compacted thickness) WBM, with coarse aggregates of lime stone, sand stone, flint or quartzite of grading 2 (63 to 45 mm size) or of grading 3 (53 to 22.4 mm size), spread, rolled and compacted to required gradient and camber with three wheel-power roller of 80 to 100 kN capacity or an equivalent vibratory roller complete all as specified and as directed.

Preparing unsurfaced water bound macadam surfaces by brushing with wire brushes for removing caked mud etc., sweeping with brooms and finally fanning the cleaned surface with gunny bags to remove all loose dirt etc. complete all as specified and as directed.

M & L for applying evenly a priming coat with bituminous primer (paving grade bitumen VG-10 grade) @ 10 kg per 10 sq metres complete all as specified & as directed.

Preparing existing black top surfaces by brushing with wire brushes for removing caked mud etc., sweeping with brooms and finally fanning the cleaned surface with gunny bags to remove all loose dirt etc. complete all as specified and as directed.

M & L for applying evenly a tack coat with bituminous primer (paving grade bitumen VG-10 grade) @ 5 kg per 10 sq metres complete all as specified & as directed.

M & L for bituminous concrete 40 mm (compacted thickness) using graded crushed stone aggregate premixed with binder (paving grade bitumen VG-30 grade) @ 5.5% by weight of total mix & hydraulic lime filler, rolled and compacted to required camber and gradient complete all as specified and as directed. Note :- (i) Semi dense bituminous concrete shall be laid using self propelled hydrostatic paver finisher and preparation of mix shall be using hot mix plant and transporting the mix in tipper. (ii) The exact bitumen content required shall be determined following the Marshall Mix Design procedure contained in the Asphalt Institute Manual MS-2 (Sixth Edition) as referred in case 3.5.3 of IRC 111: 2009. The adjustment in rate on MINUS side variation in quantity of bitumen if any shall be priced at the rate of ₹55 per kg. No claim whatsoever shall be made for adjustment in plus side.

Providing and applying 2.5 mm thick road marking strips (retro-reflective) of specified shade/ colour using hot thermoplastic material by fully/ semi-automatic thermoplastic paint applicator machine fitted with profile shoe, glass beads dispenser, propane tank heater and profile shoe heater, driven by experienced operator on road surface including cost of material, labour, T & P, cleaning the road surface of all dirt, seals, oil, grease and foreign material etc. complete all as specified and as directed.

Providing and fixing Glow studs (cat's eye) of size 80 to 100 mm X 100 to 120 mm X 15 to 20 mm made of heavy duty body shall be moulded ASA (Acrylic styrene Acryloretrite ) or HIP (High impact polystyrene) or ABS having electronically welded micro- prismatic lens with abrasion resistant coating as approved by Engineer in charge. The cats eye shall support a load of 13635 kg tested in accordance with ASTM D4280. The slope of retro- reflective surface shall be 35⁰ ± 5⁰ to base .The reflective panels on both sides with at least 12 cm of reflective area up each side. The luminance intensity should be as per the specification and shall be tested as described in ASTM I: 809 as recommended in BS: 873 part 4 : 1973. The studs shall be fixed to the Road surface using the adhesive conforming to IS, as per procedure recommended by the manufacturer complete and as per direction of Engineer-in-charge.

The cats eye shall support a load of 13635 kg tested in accordance with ASTM D4280. The slope of retro- reflective surface shall be 35⁰ ± 5⁰ to base. The reflective panels on both sides with at least 12 cm of reflective area up each side. The luminance intensity should be as per the specification and shall be tested as described in ASTM E: 809 as recommended in BS: 873 part 4 : 1973. Surface excavation not exceeding 30 cm deep and averaging 15 cm deep and getting out in soft/ loose soil complete all as specified and as directed.

Removing excavated material (soils) exceeding 50 m but not exceeding 250 m and depositing where directed at a level n exc. 1.5 m above the starting point

M & L for Rolling and consolidating formation surfaces in cutting with power roller 8 to 12 tonne complete all as specified and as directed.

M& L for soling (sub base) 150 mm spread thickness with broken boulders or quarried stones(size 50m to 100mm) ( granite, trap or basalt), interstices filled, surface formed and rolled and consolidated with power roller 8 to 12 tonne to required gradient and camber complete all as specified and as directed.

M & L for continuous brick edging using old size bricks; with width equal to the width of the brick; laid dry on end vertically complete all as specified and as directed.

Rough excavation and bringing approved earth (as approved by Garrison Engineer) from sources outside defence land including cost or royality if any, transportation, taxes etc. for filling including raising earth. Note :(i). Earth required for the item, shall be supplied by contractor, from out side MOD land at his own arrangment. (ii). All cost of procurment of earth including cost of transportation, roualties, taxes etc. shall be deemed to be included in the unit rate quoted by the contractor.(iii). With referance to clause 3.6 of MES schdule Part-II on serial page No. 18 it is clarified that measurement of the above item shall be of finished embarkment/treverse of filled earth after consolidation and 10% deduction shall be made from measured and calculated volume to allow for increase in bulk.

Forming embankments including raising (or lowering) earth, spreading in layers not exceeding 30 cm thick; watering, ramming/rolling and finishing to required size, shape, etc., not exceeding 1.5 m high from base complete all as specified and as directed.
