Detailed Visual Inspection of RCC Building for surface damages, deflections, cracks, flaking, coloration, leakages/seepages, local weaknesses, etc and their damage classification. Chisel and hammer etc may be used for measuring the distresses. The visual inspection shall largely cover areas of high distress, abnormal variations, corrosions in structure. Inspection shall be covering all visible structural parts (Column, beam, slab), External faces, common areas e.g. Terrace, staircase , watertanks etc. Inspection would be documented in the form of worksheets, photographic records, and distress over drawings etc to assess current state of condition, levels of deterioration, stability/ durability etc. Rapid Visual Screening measured along with RVS survey as per IS 13935 2009 and ASCE and other relevent codes.
Non Destructive Testing of RCC Members: The following test mentioned below shall be carried out
Rebound Hammer Test: For determination of estimated compressive strength of concrete and uniformity of concrete in the terms of surface hardness test as per IS-13311 (Part 2)- 1992, ASTMC 805-02, BS 6089:1981 and BS 1881: Part 202, BSEN 13791
Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Test: For ascertaining the quality of soundness of concrete as well as uniformity of concrete in terms of density, crack depth and width causal analysis of crack propagation as per IS 13311(Part-2):1992, ASTM C597-02, BS 6089:1981, and BS 1881-Part-203, BSEN 13791-2007.
Core Cutting Test: Deciding the location by using “Rebar Locator” and Preparing the structural members as directed to expose the concrete and taking out the concrete sample with cutter and testing as per standard specification including analysis of the test result. Restoration of Core Hole after Cutting Core Sample by high strength concrete/grout material.
PH, Chloride and Suphate Test: The test for chloride content in concrete is very significant as when chloride is present in reinforced concrete it can cause very severe corrosion of the steel reinforcement & Exposure of concrete made with Portland cement to sulphate salts can cause damage due to an expansive reaction between the cement and the sulphate salt to form crystals of ettringite. Given adequate space to form, the ettringite forms needle like crystals, but in confined space causes an expansive reaction. The above test to be confirmed by IS : 3025
Cover Depth Measurement Test: Concrete cover measurement is performed by using various non destructive tests such as GPS (ground penetrating radar), electromagnetic test, ultrasonic and radiography. The most popular test is using electromagnetic energy such as ground penetrating radar equipments as per IS : 6416(1988)
Ultra Sonic Thickness Guage on Steel members:- Ultrasonic thickness measurement (UTM) is a non-destructive testing method used to inspect the metal thickness of ship hulls, piping and structural steel. Thickness measuring is essential across many industries to monitor corrosion, erosion and damage.
Dye Penetration Test :- Liquid penetrant processes are non-destructive testing methods for detecting discontinuities that are open to surface. They may be effectively used in the inspection of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals and on non-porous, non-metallic materials, such as ceramics, plastics and glass. Surface discontinuities, such as cracks, seams, laps, cold shuts and laminations, are indicated by these methods. Flaw detection with the help of liquid penetrant is being increasingly used in various industries in the country and recommendations of a general character providing guidance on the applications of these methods are considered necessary. Should be perfomed as per IS: 11732-1995: 2015
Magnetic Particle Test:- Magnetic particle inspection is an inspection method used to identify defects on the surface of ferromagnetic materials by running a magnetic current through it. It can also be used to detect defects just beneath the surface of materials. Should be perfomed as per ISO: 9934-1 & IS: 3703(2004)
Consultancy for Preparation of Structural Audit Report which includes task as mentioned under BOQ Item No. 1.00 to 1.12 aforesaid & the following mentioned complete all as specified and directed:- (A) The findings from detailed Visual Inspection in the form of Observations, Photographic Records and Highlighting Critical Areas & defects, diagonis of damage.(Report to be submitted) (B) Non destructive test results & there interpretation to assess current state of condition & levels of deterioration as mentioned under BOQ item 1.01 to 1.12(Test report to be submitted) (C) Suggested economical viable remedial measures to restore structural stability and increase the strength by preparing BOQ of list of works for remedial measures of each buildings item wise & detailed specifications with cost estimate for each building [Report with BOQ item to be submitted] (D) The tests are to be carried out and reports to be submitted from NABL accredited laboratory (E) The payment for the work will be made only after the NDT reports alongwith remedial measure report received duly vetted by IIT/Govt Engg College. (F) The core cutting area shall be restored using high strength epoxy concrete without any extra cost. (G) Necessary arrangements to assess location and other incidence will arranged by the contractor. (H) All reports & documents shall be submitted in six copies ( hard & soft ) for each buildings.
