| 1 | Restoration of the existing replica Tapestries in Punjab andHaryana Assembly building with doing following main measures :
1. The tapestry would be removed from its packing and spread out to reveal its exact condition for mapping.
2. Dry vacuuming of the tapestry would undertaken to remove loose and large size dust particles lodged in the tapestry.
3. Patch Testing of the tapestry would carried out the on small portions of various colours of the tapestry with swabs of soap seed solution to check the colour fastness of the tapestries.
4. Analysis of the patches and swabs would be undertaken to check the colour fastness of the tapestry colours.
5. Based on the swab positive tests of the tapestries, wet cleaning of the tapestry would be undertaken, if the results received are negative, then the swab process would be repeated with a different concentration of cleaning agent and/or a different cleaning agent if still results are negative. Prima facies examination as well as work with similar materials, do indicate that the soap seed solution is the best cleaning agent with high probability of positive results.
6. Drying of the tapestries would undertaken to remove moisture content from the tapestries.
7. Final demarcation of areas would done on the basis of:
a. Crease wrinkle fold. b. Brittle c. Insect Hole. d. Indentation. e. Old repair. f. Tear/Cut. g. Loose elements. h. Missing elements. i. Discolouration. j. Stains k. Corrosion. l. Surface Soiling.
8. The color and texture of the restored fabric shall be as matching to the original colors and thread used in the tapestries.
9. The restoration work of the Tapestries shall be undertaken with regular updates to the authority for checking of the work done and any changes in the restoration work asked by the authority shall be undertaken by the agency.
10. The agency shall also submit assessment of the existing tapestry along with the after the completion of the restoration work.
11. After the completion of the restoration work the Tapestries shall be repacked using plastic sheets and other material, so as to avoid any damage during the storage.
12. The agency shall also carry out any incidental works related to the restoration of tapestries.
13. The agency shall carry out site inspection prior to bidding for assessing the condition of the tapestries. Any claim at later stage regarding the quantum of damage to the tapestries will not be entertained
14. The work shall be undertaken under the supervision of the committee constituted for the Capitol Complex. All the obervations of the committee shall have to be complied by the agency and required changes shall be undertaken. The wools shall be used NewZealand Merino wool and fine cotton threads shall be used warp & weft. 15. Natural colors shall be used for dying the cotton and wool, so as to match the shade of the existing colors of the Tapestry. The samples of wool and cotton shall be got tested as per norms. The cotton yarn shall have minimum 13 ply with s-twist. The wool yarn shall be Single, s-twist (Group of 3 singles is interlacing together)
15. The payment to the agency shall be made as per the progress of work.
16. The seam of the repaired portion shall be in level with the tapestry and must not protude from the surface of the tapestry
17. The work shall be undertaken as per the ditrctions of the authority and best practises followed for the restoration of tapestries, complete in all respect and as per the entire satisfaction of Engineer in charge. | - | Each | - | - |
