SOIL INVESTIGATION FOR PROVISION OF WORKS SERVICES TOWARDS INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPEMENT FOR INDUCTION OF CERTAIN UNIT AT AIRFORCE STATION THANJAVUR

Amount

a) Mobilisation & Demolisation of eqpt & man power for drilling 150mm dia bore hole in soil and NX Size (75mm) dia in rock up to a depth of 15 mtr from GL including collection of disturbed/undisturbed Soil Samples/Rock core Samples at various depths from GL as directed by Engineer-in-Charge. b) Conducting field investigations and relevant lab tests on soil samples as per reveant IS codes including mobilization and Demobilization of equipment and man power. c) Compilation of Field Tests (SPT) and Lab Test results and Submission of Soil Invstigation report in Quadruplicate Consisting. i) Soil Investigation shall be carried out as per IS 1892. Soil Investigation report shall include following mentioned accordingly. ii) Grain size analysis, Identification & classification of soil. iii) Unit weight (bulk density), natural moisture content, liquid limit, plastic limit, shrinkage limit, plasticity indes, specific gravity. iv) Dry density, degree of saturation of soil. v) Free Swelling Index & Swelling Pressure if expansive soil is encountered. vi) Shear Parameters (C-Phi Analysis) vii) Consolidation test & permeability test. viii) Chemical analysis of soil ix) Chemical analysis of ground water (Water to be obtained from bottom of bore hole) x) Depth of water table below Ground Level xi) Presence of loose soil, if any and its depth. xii) If weak soil with lesser N value as specified in table-1 of IS 1893 (Part-1) 2016 is encountered then evaluation of liuefaction potential shall be assessed and remedial actions to be adopeds shall be specified.

xiii) Undisturbed soil samples shall be collected at 1.50 m inverval and at change of strata. xiv) Bore hole dia shall be 150mm. Depth of bore shall be 15.0 m. xv) SPT Tests shall be done done at 1.50 m interval. xvi) Crushing strength, degree of weathering (CR Value) and RQD of rock samples. xvii) As per IS-1892 clause 3.6.5.3 drilling for 3.0 m depth inside the rock is essential to ensure that boulders or layers of cemnted soil are not mistaken for rock. xviii) For open foundations, Calculation of Net SBC at 1.5m, 2.0m,2.5m,3.0m, 3.5m, 4.0m etc from shear as well as settlement criteria. SBC value shall be calculated based on C-Phi analysis as well as SPT value. For calculations formulae given in IS : 6403 shall be used. xix) Recomnendations regarding type of foundations to be adopted & Net SBC/ Pile capacities to be adopted/ Also recommendations shall be given regarding statbility of soil and soil stablization required, if any. xx) Bore hole positions duly marked on plan and thier distance from adjacent prominent refernce points. xxi) Plan size of the bldgs shall also marked in the plan. this plan shall be signed by GE, AGE & Soil consultant. xxii) Angle of internal friction. xxiii) Max and Min N Values. xxiv) K-Value of soil (for rigid pavemmts). xxv) Bore log details shall be as per Appx 'D' of IS 1892. N values depthwise shall also be shown in bore log details. Borelog details shall be signed by GE, AGE & soil consultant. xxvi) Report should by Signed M Tech Engineer. xxvii) Incase, the soil investigation carried out by private company, vetting from IIT/NIT.
