Strengthening of basic strip of Runway 09-27 at Airport SH - Soil Properties Evaluation of Runway Basic Strip including CBR Values

Carrying out soil investigation from approved AAI / NABL Accredited Laboratory / Government Engineering Colleges / NIT / IIT / CRRI etc. on soil samples collected from basic strip of operational area of Aurangabad Airport. The soil samples at basic strip to be collected by contractor from 6 locations (3 locations on North and 3 locations on South side of runway) at depth 0.15m, 0.5m and 1.5m from existing ground level for each pit. The minimum size of pits of size L=1m, B=1m, Depth=1.5m each on either side of the runway. Tests to be carried out by contractor on all soil samples are: - i) Particle size analysis (6 X 3 = 18 samples). ii) Liquid Limit, Plastic Limit, Plasticity Index, Swell Index for soil (6 X 3 = 18 samples). iii) In-situ density, dry density, Natural moisture content of soil, OMC, MDD (6 X 3 = 18 samples). iv) Water table level, if encountered within 1.5m depth from the existing GL (6 No.). v) Soaked (04 days soaking in water) and un-soaked CBR tests shall be carried out on samples collected at 0.15m depth from the existing GL at field density and field moisture content, to stimulate the field condition (6 samples for Soaked CBR test and 6 samples for un-soaked CBR test). vi) Submission of report including all test results mentioned above and recommendation of the soil consultant regarding the soil stabilization/ ground improvement including thickness of layer to be stabilized/improved to achieve the minimum CBR value of 15 (1No.) Note :- Item includes submitting detailed Soil Investigation Report in 04 (Four) number of colored sets in the desired format as enclosed on page no. SSC-13 to SSC-22. Report shall exclude Bore Log Data Analysis, Modulus of sub-grade reaction (K-value), Elastic Modulus and Poisson’s Ratio of soil etc. complete for entire satisfaction and as directed by Engineer-In-Charge.
