It can be used for carrying out extensive repairs to beams, columns, slab, and other structural elements, repairing of structural members subjected to repetitive loading for strengthening. Procedure for carrying out repair Polymer Modified Mortar - Surface preparation- (separate payment shall be made ) All loose traces of concrete or mortar, dust, grease oil, etc. must be removed. Damaged or contaminated concrete shall be removed to obtain a keyed aggregate exposed surface. Non-impact/ vibrating cleaning methods, e.g. grit or high pressure water blasting are recommended. Clean all exposed reinforcement to a minimum grade of Sa 2 according to ISO 8501-1 / ISO 2944-4. Ensure all visible portions of the reinforcing bar is clean. Where reinforcing bars are corroded, cut back the concrete around the reinforcing bars, Grit blast to remove corrosion products from around reinforcing bars and coat with approved epoxy coating for corrosion protection or any other protective coating as recommended by the Structural Engineer to protect from corrosion. Replace the affected part of rebar if the diameter after grit blasting is found reduced by more than 20% of the original diameter on the advice of the structural engineer responsible for the works. Bond Coat- (separate payment shall be made only for bond coat used for old surface to new surface) Providing & applying One coat of structural grade epoxy bond coat by brush conforming to ASTM-C-882-87 to the prepared concrete surface to be repaired / strengthened and repairingwith PMM shall be done when the surface is tacky.
Mixing -Only full bags are mixed. Damaged or opened bags should not be used. Mix the ready-mix Polymer Modified Mortar in a forced action pan mixer, or with a helical paddle attached to a
low speed (300-600rpm) mixer for 3 minutes until a lump free, thixotropic consistency is achieved. Only use clean water. Mixing water needed: 3.75 to 4.25 litres per 25kg bag or as recommended by the Manufacturer of Polymer Modified Mortar. Allow the mortar to rest for 2 - 3 minutes and then nremix briefly before pouring into formwork. If temperature more than 40°C then use chilled water for mixing.
Mortar application- The minimum temperatures must be maintained duringapplication and for at least 24 hours thereafter for optimumcuring of the product. The prepared substrate should be presoaked, preferably for 24 hours, but at least 2 hours beforeapplying Polymer Modified Mortar. The surface must besaturated surface dry, but without standing water. PolymerModified Mortar can be spray- or hand-applied. Apply mixedproduct directly to the prepared damp substrate, or wet on wetonto the primed surface. Spraying the material with the necessary pressure will ensure good adhesion o fthematerial.A thin scrape coatorcontac tlayer before building upto ther equired thickness, wet on wet, will improveadhesionespecially in case of hand application.
Apply to the desiredlayer thickness upto 15 mm and level using a screeding bar, trowel or woodenboard. Smoothing with a trowel or finishingby float or sponge can be done as soon as the mortar hasbegun to stiffen.
Protective coatings - Subsequent coatings of any anticarbonation barriers or silaneimpregnationsshouldbeapplieifrecommendedbytheStructural Engineer.Plaster- (No separate payment shall be made). The repaired surface shall be matched to the surroundingsurface by providing required thickness of plaster internal orexternal plaster.CuringMinimum 7 days curing shall be done to the newly repairedareausingany suitablemethodRequiredCompressivestrength(ASTC1097cmcube)ReadyMixPolymerModifiedMortar used on site shall besentfortestingofcompressivestrengthandminimumstrengthrequired to be achieved is as follows – 1 Day-15 MPa, 3 Day-25 MPa, 7 Day-35 MPa, 28 Day-45 MPa.

| 1.08 | STRUCTURAL POLYMER REPAIR (From 15mm to 30mm THICKNESS):
Repairing to the existing RCC structural members (vertical or horizontal) using ready mix Polymer Modified Mortar (Fibre einforced structural grade repair mortar) of approved brand where the thickness of repair is upto 30 mm in two layers. Itcan be used for carrying out extensive repairs to beams, columns, slab, and other structural elements, repairing of structural members subjected to repetitive loading for strengthening. Procedure for carrying out repair Polymer Modified Mortar - Surface preparation- (separate payment shall be made )All loose traces of concrete or mortar, dust, grease oil, etc.must be removed. Damaged or contaminated concrete shallbe removed to obtain a keyed aggregate exposed surface.Non-impact/ vibrating cleaning methods, e.g. grit or highpressure water blasting are recommended. Clean all exposedreinforcement to a minimum grade of Sa 2 according to ISO8501-1 / ISO 2944-4. Ensure all visible portions of thereinforcing bar is clean. Where reinforcing bars are corroded, cut back the concrete around the reinforcing bars, Grit blast toremove corrosion products from around reinforcing bars andcoat with approved epoxy coating for corrosion protection orany other protective coating as recommended by theStructural Engineer to protect from corrosion. Replace theaffected part of rebar if the diameter after grit blasting is foundreduced by more than 20% of the original diameter on theadvice of the structural engineer responsible for the works.Bond Coat- (separate payment shall be made only for bondcoat used for old surface to new surface)Providing & applying One coat of structural grade epoxy bondcoat by brush conforming to ASTM-C-882-87 to the preparedconcrete surface to be repaired / strengthened and repairingwith PMM shall be done when the surface is tacky.Mixing -
