Providing core boxes as per IS (i.e IS 4078 -1980 , reaffirmed in 2004 ). Each core box shall hold 6.0 m length of sample
Locating bore hole, shifting & Setting up of drilling equipment at each of the drill locations including following activities: 1. Conducting survey and locating the borehole as per the drawing or as directed by engineer in charge by using total station with all accessories. The location of the borehole to be identified based on the coordinates provided in the drawing by transferring the coordinates from the marked up points given in the drawing/ shown by Engineer along with grid / bench mark. The distance of survey traverse will not be more than 2 KM. Use of GPS instruments for locating bore holes will not be acceptable, however it may be used as a confirmatory system only. 2. Making temporary access roads as required to the boring/ drilling locations from existing approach roads to site. 3. Arranging water supply for the drilling and testing. 4. This item shall be operated only once for each bore hole. Any replacement or change of equipment needed due to any reasons, contractor shall carry out at his own cost. 5. Required Site clearance, earthwork etc. suiting for mounting of the equipment and creating working environment. 6. No extra payment shall be made for any criss-cross or back and forth movement of the rig after setting, required for proper positioning, including marking the drill hole location on ground by actual survey, as per the drawing or instructions of the Engineer in charge.
Plugging of bore holes as per specifications and as directed by Engineer-In-Charge using 1:2 cement-sand grout. Note: 1. The grouting of the hole shall be done using a tremie extending upto bottom of the hole and raising the same as the grouting proceeds. 2. The payment will be made in running metre for the depth of bore hole plugged.
Conducting Grain size analysis, particle size & percent fines distribution of soil and soil classification (IS 1498), (Sieve analysis & Hydrometer or Pipette analysis ) including Grain Size Distribution curve as per drawings, specifications, IS 2720 (part-4) and as directed by the Engineer.
Conducting index properties of soil such as Liquid limit, plastic limit and plasticity index etc as per drawings, specification, IS 2720 (Part 5), IS 9259 and direction of the Engineer. Three tests of each soil sample will be considered as one set.
Conducting Specific gravity as per specification, drawings, IS 2720 (Part 3) and as directed by the Engineer. Three tests of each soil sample will be considered as one set.
Conducting chemical analysis of undisturbed soil samples or disturbed SPT soil samples including total soluble solids, organic matter, Calcium carbonate, cation exchange capacity, silica sesquioxide ratio, sulphates (expressed as SO3), Chlorides and PH as per drawing, specification, IS 2720 ( Part 21,22,23,24, 25, 26, & 27) and as directed by the Engineer.
Conducting Consolidation test on undisturbed soil samples, giving full test results including e - log p curve, virgin curves, Cv, e, av, Cc, etc as per drawing and relevant IS code:2720 Part 15.
Conducting unconfined compressive strength test on undisturbed soil samples or remoulded soil samples as per IS:2720 Part-10.
Conducting triaxial compressive strength test on undisturbed soil samples or on remoulded soil samples as per drawings, specifications, relevant IS 2720 (Part-11 & 12) and as directed by the Engineer,
Consolidated undrained type including measurement of pore water pressure.

Carrying out laboratory tests on rock samples in an approved laboratory, complete as per specifications and as directed by Engineer-In-Charge, including necessary transportation of samples to approved laboratories and submission of test report in hard and soft copies.

Converting the already drilled hole to observation well, up to maximum of 30m depth below existing ground level as per drawing and as directed by Engineer including providing and installing 100mm. dia PVC perforated pipe with perforations of 6mm dia @ 150 mm C/C, wrapped with nylon wire mesh of 150 micron mesh size, providing cap on top of well etc including all material, labour, tools and plants complete. Note: The cost of drilling shall be paid under the relevant item.
GEO-PHYSICAL FIELD INVESTIGATION
Conducting Electrical Resistivity Imaging measurement in two radial directions as per specification.
Seismic Refraction test is to assess the subsurface and bed rock topography for the CMPAPP site as per technical specification.
1) Up to 110 m depth below the foundation level for Reactor and control Buildings.
2) Up to 60m depth below the foundation level for various safety related buildings.
Providing bore well with casing of 150 mm dia. SCH. 40 grade PVC slot perforated pipe with following specification. 1. Drilling a cluster of bore well consists nine numbers of bore wells with depth of at least 20 meter depth from existing GL at the specified four locations in the required configuration as given in Figure1. 2. The bore well may be drilled by using truck mounted fast rig. 3. The casing shall be of PVC, 150 NB (OD-168.28 mm), Sch.40 with about 7.1 mm wall thickness with slotted screen type with slot width shall be 5 mm +/- 0.5 mm, slot length shall be 50 mm (2 inch), minimum no. of vertical rows of slots shall be 5, pitch shall be 12.7 mm (0.5 inch) (Refer Figure 2). The slotted pipe shall introduce from one meter below ground level. The initial one meter length of the casing shall be without slotes. The casing pipe shall be wound with two layers of GI steel wire mesh of 20 mesh size and tied suitably before installation at the bore well. 4. Providing hinged cap with locking provision for all bore wells. 5. The rate shall include all material, labour, tools, plants, machines, fittings, adhesives etc. to complete the work as directed by EIC (Engineer-In-Charge) .
For laboratory investigation, 12 nos. of soil samples are to be collected from 4 donor bore wells of 4 sets (3 samples from each donor bore well ), at three depths i.e. 0.5m, 2m & 5m below ground level. Each sample weight will be around 1 Kg. in weight and same is to be handed over to concerned NPCIL site person.
Extra over item No. 24 for drilling a bore well more than 20 meter from GL for one meter or part there off of each bore well.
Preparation and submission of comprehensive draft ( 3 Copies ) and final ( 5 copies) reports of all the tests, survey,field investigations, laboratory tests etc. in the scope of this tender as detailed in various schedules, specifications, drawings inclusive of bore logs , survey of discontinuities, Compilation, interpretation, analysis of the data , liquifaction analysis for foundations on soil, slope stability analysis of soil strata as per IS: 7894 and recommending safe slopes during excavation, recommendations of the foundation design parameters found out from the tests as per AERB Guide no. AERB /NPP/SG/CSE-2. Final report shall be submitted after the draft copy is appoved by the Engineer. Also submission of draft ( 3 Copy ) interim reports of all the tests / field investigations carried out as detailed in specifications inclusive of bore logs , results of tests including their soft copies and 5 copies of the approved interim report as soon as a particular tests , investigation,surveys are completed. Report shall be submitted in soft copies as well as hard copies. The report shall be reviewed independently & proof checked by a third party Geo-Technical specialist from instititutions like IITs,IISC,NIRM,CSMRS etc. as per specifications, drawings and as directed by Engineer-In-Charge. The scope of finalising the Geotechnical evaluation report shall also include the following: 1) The sub soil investigation final design basis report shall be submitted separately. 2) Defence of the report for design basis report and particpation in On-line meetings ( 10 nos. of meetings, maximum) by the Proof consultant during the meetings with AERB. The time-period for the review of the report by AERB can be considered as one year after the approval of the report for design basis report by NPCIL. 3) Revision of the report for design basis report ( 3 times., maximum) based on the review comments by AERB.
Conducting meetings and ensuring required arrangements related to co-ordination and liasioning with villagers, local authorities, District Administrations, NGOs etc. during any type of obstacles, agitations including oppositions in the work for sorting out the same in suitable manner as per circumstantial requirement for creating smooth working environment to carry out work under the scope of the contract as directed by Engineer-In-Charge.
