Conducting soil Investigation (bore hole) as per IS : 1892-1997 in the proposed site by manually/hydraulic/calax rotary drilling of 150mm diameter in any type of soil/rock with casing pipe/ bentonite slurry if required, for supporting inner collapsible stratum below water table with pot holes/ helical auger in all sorts of soil up to 10.00 Mtr depth of bore hole or up to the depth of refusal (N>50) for the proposed site and allied infra and preparation of investigation report (Report shall be submitted in quaduplicate) with proper recommendation of type of foundation to be adopted including safe load bearing capacity of soil. Including bush cutting, delivering & mobilization to tools plant and personnal to the site and demobilization after completion of work.

Notes :- (i) Proposed Bldgs : As per calculation of bore holes details Appx att tender document. (ii) Location of bore holes as per site plan details appx att tender document (iii) Location may be changed on ground requirement basis or as per direction of Stn /MES auth. (iv) The successful tenderer shall arrange to submit photographs and videography record showing various tests and all important stage performed at site and in lab of each bore hole or as decided by Engineer-in-charge. If the photographs/videographs record as listed above are not submitted, then recovery for the same be made from the contractor's final bill. (Refer Note D on Srl Page No 11 of the tender document)

Investigation and report shall comprise fwgs Tests for working out safe bearing capacity of soil: (1) Bore Hole - (2) Standard Penetration Test (SPT) at 1.00 mtr interval at every change in strata- (3) Trial Pit of size 1.2 x 1.2 X 6.0 m of appropriate depth at a distance of 1m away from each Boreholes (as per IS 1982-1979) - Specification for carrying out soil investigation report shall include the following : (i) Drilling of Test boreholes of 150mm dia by shell and auger MS casing as per IS 1892-1979. (ii) Standard Penetration Test (IS 2131-1981) conducted by means of the split spoon, specified in this standard, furnishes data about resistance of the soils to penetration which can be used to evaluate standard strength data, such as N values (number of blows per 30cm of penetration using standard split spoon) of the soil. Methods of calculation of bearing capacity of soils based on N values as specified in IS 6403-1981. (iii) Sub soil stratification : Based on field and laboratory test data stratification be enumerated for BH at various depth incl level of water table.

(iv) Sequence and extent of each soil and rock stratum in the region likely to be affected by the proposed work shall be enumerated in detail report incl nature of each stratum and engineering properties of soil and rock which may affect design and mode of construction of proposed structure and their foundation.

v) Photographic record of geo-exploration as well testing shall form part of detail report to be submitted. (vi) Collection of disturbed/undisturbed sample as per IS-2132-1986 and carrying out laboratory test for the following :

(a) Sieve analysis (b) Consolidation characteristics (c) Particle size (d) Wet and dry density (e) Specific gravity, C value, moisture content etc (f) Plasticity index (g) Natural moisture content (h) Shear strength characteristics (j) Swelling pressure and free swell index for clayey soils.

(k) Evaluation of safe bearing capacity based on shear failure and settlement failure criteria. Refer IS 1904-1986. IS 8009 Part 1 & 2. Allowable bearing capacity at various depths of 1.0m, 1.5m, 2.0m, 2.5m, 3.0m, 3.5m and 4m or more as required below GL is to be given with suggestion for economical width and type of foundation to be adopted. Recommended SBC shall be given for all bore holes. SBC should be worked out for fwg isolated footing of size 1.0m x 1.0m, 1.5m x 1.5m, 1.5m x 2.5m, 2.0m x 2.5m, 2.0m x 3.0m, 2.5m x 3.0m and raft foundation at each depth specified for working out SBC.

(l) Carrying out swelling test soil. (m) Location of Ground water table (GWT) at peak dry and peak monsoon period be submitted in report. (n) Recommendations as regards possibility of liquefaction of soil be given. (o) Recommendation for suitability of earth obtained from foundation trenches for back filing and filling under floor also shall be given (p) Possible corrosive effects of soil and water on foundation material.

NOTE : Records of Borehole and Trial Pits shall be made in a plan and section, drawn to the largest convenient scale should be submitted. The following information should be shown in plan (a) Name of Agency (b) Location with existing reference (c) Boreholes and Trial Pits with number and location marked on site plan. (d) Reduced level (RL) of ground surface with reference to BM at each BH and Trial Pits (e) Date of explorations/ site investigation started and date of completion (f) Name of supervision staff of GE Army Barmer.
