Repairing and Painting of Phase-2 Chimney

PART-A: Designing, hiring, arranging and erecting Scaffolding systems/safe moving platforms/Hanging platforms as required with all safety requirements suitable for repairing and coating around the chimney outer shell surface. The rate is inclusive of providing Design and drawing after getting approval from government agencies (like SERC, IIT, Anna university etc) etc. The rate is also inclusive of providing and removal of the moving platforms after completion of work.

PART-A : SURFACE PREPARATION: Removal of dust, oil, mortar/concrete protrusions, existing paint from the structural/concrete surface by using cup wheel brush /by hand. The Rate shall include labour, tools etc., complete.

PART-A: Providing and painting by applying with brush or airless spray on Concrete surfaces Inside surface of chimney shell above roof, horizontal surface of shell at top, underside of roof slab, top exposed surface of external platform and mini shell, Top 50m of the chimney shell and outer peripheral surface & Bottom surface of external platforms located in this region in alternate bands of colours of 'Signal red' and 'bright white' as directed by EIC with 1) Primer coat : EPOXY clear sealer for a DFT of 50 microns (multiple coats) 2)Intermediate Coat: Epoxy phenolic coat for a DFT of 100 microns (one coat) 3)Finishing Coat: Aliphatic Acrylic Polyurethane for a DFT of 70 microns (one/two coats)

PART-A: Providing and painting by applying with brush or airless spray on Concrete surfaces of rest of the portion of chimney shell outer surface i.e below 50m from the top and outer peripheral surface & Bottom surface of external platforms located in this region in alternate bands of colours of 'Signal red' and 'bright white' as directed by EIC with 1) Primer coat : EPOXY clear sealer for a DFT of 100micros (multiple coats) 2) Finishing Coat: Aliphatic Acrylic Polyurethane for a DFT of 70 microns (one/two coats)

PART-B: Removing/ chipping upto 40 mm average depth and cleaning of existing loose concrete carefully by manual or low impact frequency hammer including cleaning the surfaces by compressed air jet complete including removing loose concrete around the reinforcement. the entire surface will be checked by light hammering (using 1 kg hammer ) for detection of loose concrete. Edges of chipped patch shall bear vertical reverse cut with minimum depth at edges as 10 mm. ( prepared patches to be got checked before appliying bond coat) all loose/sound concrete around corroded bar has to be removed to prepare well defined patch.

PART-B: Cleaning of reinforcement of total rust including from behind the reinforcing bars to give it totally rust free finished steel surface by manual method / sand blasting or by using approved rust remover wherever required (cost of rust remover included). For measurement, surface area of repair work will be taken.

PART-B: Anticorrosive treatment to exposed reinforcement in two coats using approved anticorrosive zinc based primer. For measurement, square metre of concrete area for repairs is considered.

PART-B: Building up the profile of structure members upto 12mm average depth by using emulsified SBR latex or equivalent product. Mix ratio as per product data sheet in 10-15 mm thick layers uncluding levelling profiling complete. polypropylene fibres to be added to reduce shrinkage. proper curing has to be ensured. For measurement, patch area of repair work will be taken.This item includes the cost of bonding agent to be applied in between the layers of repair mortar. (Cement used shall satisfy requirements of OPC 43 grade).

PART-B: Building up the profile of structure members upto 40mm (above 12mm) average depth by using emulsified SBR latex or equivalent product. Mix ratio as per product data sheet in 10-15 mm thick layers uncluding levelling profiling complete. polypropylene fibres to be added to reduce shrinkage. proper curing has to be ensured. For measurement, patch area of repair work will be taken.This item includes the cost of bonding agent to be applied in between the layers of repair mortar. Manpower required for lifting 2.5 T of stainless steel handrails apart from the winch operator. (Viz., semi-skilled & unskilled labourers for controlling the lifting material, labour at the chimney platform level to drag, hold and position the material etc)
