Strengthening of basic strip of Runway at Dibrugarh Airport. S.H. Soil Testing

Carry out soil investigation on soil samples collected from basic strip of operational area of Dibrugarh Airport.The soil samples at basic strip to be collected by contractor from 6 locations (3 locations at Airforce side of runway and 3 locations at Terminal Building side of runway) at depth 0.15 m, 0.5 m and 1.5 m from existing ground level for each pit. The minimum size of pits of size L= 1m, B=1m, Depth 1.5m each on either side of the runway. Tests to be carried out by contractor on all soil samples are: i) Particle size analysis (6 X 3 = 18 samples), ii) Liquid Limit, Plastic Limit, Plasticity Index, Swell index for clayey and swelling soils (6 X 3 = 18 samples). iii) In-situ density ,dry density ,Natural moisture of soil ,OMC (6 X 3 = 18 samples). iv) Water table if encountered within 1.5 meter depth from the existing GL (6 No.), v) Soaked CBR (04 days soaking in water) test on soil samples collected at a depth of 0.15m from exiting GL (6 No.). vi) Recommendation of the soil consultant regarding soil stabilization /ground improvement including thickness of layer to be stabilized/improved to achieve the minimum CBR value of 15 (1 No.). The above work will be carried out as per direction and satifaction of Engineer- In- Charge.
