Replacement of by supply and installation of lifts in various locations in Academic and Hostel zone building in IIT Madras

GENERAL NOTES :

a)All items of work under this Contract shall be executed strictly to fulfill the requirements laid down in the specifications, which shall include type of equipment, material, methods of installation, type of controls, approved shop drawings and the relevant standards. b)The scope of work includes dismantling of the existing lift and taken over by the vendor as buyback item. c)After dismantling the lift,the civil team will do all civil repair works such as water proofing at pit ,mechine room repair works ect.the approximate time taken by civil team shall be 15 days to one month. d) In meantime, the lift vendor should arrange to deliver the materials and commence the work as soon as handing over the lift shaft and mechine room for erection. e)The dismantling works may be taken after consent from the user department and the same will be communicated to your site engineer. The site engineer should be made available at site during execution of the work for entire contract period.

The rate for each item of work in the Schedule of Quantities shall, unless expressly stated otherwise, shall also include the following: a. All fixing materials, accessories, appliances, tools, plants, equipment, transport, labour and incidentals required in preparation of and in the full and entire execution, testing, commissioning and completion of the work called for in the item as per Specifications and Drawings. b. Wastage on materials and labour. c. Loading, transporting, unloading, handling / double handling, hoisting to all levels, setting, fitting and fixing in position, protecting, disposal of debris and all other labour necessary in and for the full and entire execution and to fully complete the job in accordance with the contract documents, good practice and recognized principles. The storage required for storing of new lift materials will be the scope of lift agency and required temporary shed or containers will be arranged by the lift agency. The place will be identified and permission will be given by the institute to construct the temp. shed. d. Liabilities, obligations and risks arising out of Conditions of Contract. e. All requirements of specifications, whether such requirements are mentioned in the item or not. The specifications and drawings where available, are to be read as complimentary to and part of the Schedule of Quantities and any work called for in one shall be taken as required for all. f. In the event of conflict between schedule of quantities and other documents including the specifications, the most stringent shall apply and the interpretation of the consultants shall be final and binding.

The unit rate for each equipment or materials shall include cost in Rupees for equipment and material including the excise duty, forwarding, freight and insurance upto Contractor’s store at site, storage, installation, testing, commissioning and other works required.

The extension for (total) amounts against each item shall be based on the quantities indicated in this Schedule.

The quantities given in this schedule are provisional, the Owner reserves the right to increase or decrease the quantities or to totally omit any items of work and the Contractor shall not be entitled to claim any extras or damages on these grounds. These variations shall be permitted until such time Contractors shop drawings are approved.

This schedule shall be fully priced and the extensions and totals duly checked. The rates for all items shall be filled in INK

No alteration whatsoever is to be made to the text or quantities of this Schedule unless such alteration is authorized in writing by the Consultants. Any such alterations, notes or additions shall unless authorized in writing be disregarded when tender documents are considered.

In the event of an error occurring in the amount column of the Schedule, as a result of wrong extension of the unit rate and quantity, the unit rate quoted by the tenderer shall be regarded as firm and the extensions shall be amended on the basis of the rates.

Any error in totaling in the amount column and in carrying forwarded totals shall be corrected. Any error, in description or in quantity, or omission of items from this schedule shall not vitiate this contract but shall be corrected and deemed to be a variation required by the Consultants.

Obtaining of lift license and Handing over to client shall be the sole responsibility of Contractor.

Design, manufactures and replacement by supply,installation, testing,commissioning, approvals / laisoning (All local / state/ central statutory bodies) and handing over in satisfactory working conditions of elevators including the cost of providing 2 weeks satisfactory trial operation and testing at full design load and safely checks for sudden breaks, speed, etc. as directed and including the cost of providing free comprehensive maintenance service during Defect Liability Period of 12 months after final completion and satisfactory handing over to Engineer in charge complete as per specifications as required and as below,the cost inclusive of buyback cost of existing Johnson make lift.
