These shaft-driven, powder-coated centrifugal blowers are designed for silent operation and provide an airflow of 10,000 CFM at a static pressure of 125 mm water column. The powder coating ensures corrosion resistance in the high-humidity composting environment, conforming to IS 13871 for powder coatings, and the shaft-driven design offers robust mechanical efficiency. One blower set will serve the open tunnel, while the second set is dedicated to the insulated tunnel. The entire system is governed by a PLC-based control panel integrated with advanced sensors in the insulated tunnel, including six temperature sensors, one humidity sensor, one oxygen sensor, and one carbon dioxide sensor. These sensors continuously monitor environmental parameters within the tunnel and send real-time data to the PLC, where an HMI screen allows the end user to input threshold values for temperature, humidity, oxygen, and CO₂. The blower operation is fully automated based on these setpoints, ensuring precise control of composting conditions. Additionally, the system includes timer-based cycling logic to maintain air circulation in the event of sensor failure or override. Installation work includes constructing suitable RCC foundations for each blower with anti-vibration mountings to ensure stable and quiet operation, adhering to IS 2974 (Part 1) for foundation design of machinery. Each blower will be connected to its respective composting tunnel via galvanized iron (GI) sheet metal ducting, fabricated as per IS 655, and fitted with butterfly dampers for airflow control. The electrical wiring will be laid using 3.5-core armored aluminum or copper cables conforming to IS 1554 (Part 1), with weatherproof termination in heavy-duty PVC cable trays complying with IS 14927. All electrical works will follow safety guidelines as per IS 732 for electrical wiring installations and IS 3043 for earthing. The control panel, built with an IP65-rated powder-coated enclosure, will house the PLC, HMI, timers, MCBs, contactors, and motor protection devices, assembled in compliance with IS/IEC 60947 for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear. All sensors will be installed at strategic locations inside the insulated tunnel and calibrated for accurate readings, using industrial-grade transmitters conforming to ISO/IEC standards applicable to environmental monitoring. Upon installation, the system will undergo comprehensive testing, including motor run tests, sensor calibration, and PLC functional testing. The control logic will be programmed as per the technical officer’s guidelines, and the user will be trained to modify the setpoints using the HMI interface. The system ensures seamless switchover between working and standby blowers, either manually or automatically, based on operational requirements or blower failure. This solution is aimed at optimizing the composting process, enhancing compost quality, and minimizing manual intervention through automated environmental control. The entire installation will be completed in accordance with relevant IS codes and safety standards, ensuring a long-lasting, efficient, and user-friendly system.
