MODIFICATION OF PIPELINE AND ERECTION OF 600 NB MONOLITHIC INSOLATION JOINT (MIJ) AND WIELDED ISOLATION JOINT (WIV) AT PLT EXCHANGE PIT AT MCI

Modification of Pipeline and Erection of 600 NB Monolithic Insolation Joint (MIJ) and Wielded Isolation Joint (WIV) at PLT exchange pit at MCI. Mangalore Coastal Installation (MCI) receives HSD from Mangalore Refinery and petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) through a dedicated 24-inch pipeline. This pipeline is underground between MRPL and MCI. Underground pipes are susceptible to high level of corrosion due to potential diff between pipeline and ground. To avoid such corrosion Cathodic protection is provided to the pipeline. These pipelines after coming above ground is given earthing connection at strategic points to dissipate any static energy formed during product movement in pipeline. Hence these two sections need to be isolated for the optimum life of complete pipeline. To ensure this, an MIJ needs to be installed at the intersection of aboveground pipeline and underground pipeline along with WIV which is for positive segregation during maintenance. View above it is proposed to provide a MIJ and a WIV on the dedicated 24-inch HSD pipeline coming from MRPL to maintain the serviceability of the pipeline.
