Preparing bituminous or black top surfaces by brushing with wire brushes for removing caked mud etc. sweeping with brooms and finally fanning the cleaned surface with gunny bags to remove all loose dirt etc. and applying evenly a priming tack coat with bituminous primer using paving bitumen (VG-10) at 5 Kg per 10 square metres complete all as specified.

Material and labour for laying premixed bituminous carpet, 4.00 cm consolidated thicknes, with 0.54 cum of stone chippings mixed with 29.20 kg of binder using paving bitumen (grade VG-30), rolled and compacted to required camber and gradient with 8 to 10 tonnes power roller including liquid seal coat by applying evenly binder using paving bitumen (grade VG-30) at 9.8 kg per 10 sqm blinding with 6.3 mm size stone chippings @ 0.09 cu.m. per 10 sqm and rolled to a uniform smooth surface complete all as specified.

Material and labour for raking of joint, removing old sealing compound, dirt from Dummy/Contraction or Construction joints, average 10 mm wide and 25 mm deep, cleaning the joints properly by mechanical means, removing all foreign materials to a distance exc. 100 m but not exc. 250 m, filling the joint with closed cell, medium density, cross linked, polyethylene foam back up rod 12 mm dia, priming the joints with primer suitable for polysulphide based joint sealing compound, applying masking tape on edge of joints to prevent accidental spillage of sealant and filling with polysulphide based sealant including removing the masking tape after filling of sealant ,complete all as specified and directed. Notes: - (i) Contractor shall submit guarantee for sealant for minimum of 10 years duly supported with technical details in support directly from the manufacturer. (ii) Technical specification of the sealant shall be as under:- (a)Sealant shall meet the requirements mentioned in BS-5212, BS-4254 and EN- 141875-2003(For hydrolysis/water resistance test). In addition, the movement accommodation factor (MAF) of the sealant should be minimum + 30%. (iii) The work shall be carried out strictly as per the manufacturers instructions.

Material and labour for raking of joint, removing old sealing compound, dirt from expansion joints, average 20 mm wide and 50 mm deep, cleaning the joints properly by mechanical means, removing all foreign materials to a distance exc. 100 m but not exc. 250 m, filling the joint with closed cell, medium density, cross linked, polyethylene foam back up rod 25 mm dia, applying bond breaker tape on top of back up road for complete width of joint, priming the joints with primer suitable for polysulphide based joint sealing compound, applying masking tape on edge of joints to prevent accidental spillage of sealant and filling with polysulphide based sealant including removing the masking tape after filling of sealant ,complete all as specified and directed. Material and labour for preparation of old painted surface of rigid pavement and applying one coat of road marking paint (water based grade-2) conforming to IS 164-1981 (white/yellow shade) etc complete all as specified and directed.
