| 1. Removal and Dismantling of Feed Gear Box Unit: - The complete feed gear box assembly shall be carefully dismantled and removed from the HMT NH 26 lathe machine. All associated mechanical components including fasteners, gears, shafts, bearings, and couplings shall be detached systematically. 2. Removal and Dismantling of Change Gear Unit: - The existing change gear unit shall be completely dismantled, including gears, shafts, brackets, and supporting structures. Serviceable components shall be identified and preserved, while unserviceable parts shall be segregated appropriately.3. Removal of Lead Screw, Feed Rod, and Compound Rest Screw Rod: - The lead screw assembly, feed rod, and compound rest screw rod shall be removed with proper precautions. Alignment references and dimensional checks shall be recorded prior to dismantling to ensure accurate reassembly and alignment during modification.4. Partial Dismantling of Apron (carriage movement) Gear Box: - The apron gear box shall be partially dismantled to remove specified internal components. Gears, bearings, seals, and housing surfaces shall be inspected thoroughly. Necessary modifications shall be carried out based on inspection findings to facilitate integration of the upgraded drive system. Presently the carriage movement speed is 4mm/Sec (Single speed). This should be modified to variable speed i.e. 5 mm per second to 60 mm per Second.5. Rework of Apron Gear Box (carriage movement) and Installation of Motorised Gear Box: -The apron gear box shall be re-engineered and modified to accommodate a suitable motorised gear box for the application.A suitable heavy-duty mounting bracket shall be designed, fabricated, and installed to securely mount the motorised gear box onto the apron assembly.A Servo/VFD control system shall be integrated with the apron box to enable precise, smooth, and controlled feed operation.The motorised gear box shall be of reputed make such as Siemens, Kirloskar, ABB, Crompton Greaves, Bharat Bijli only.The servo motor shall be of Delta, Siemens, Mitsubishi only.Proper alignment, vibration dampening, load balancing, and operational safety measures shall be ensured during installation and commissioning.6. Installation of Automatic Lubrication System: - An automatic centralized lubrication system shall be installed for the cross slide and saddle units to ensure continuous, uniform, and reliable lubrication. The lubrication system shall be of Cenlub or Dropco make.All lubrication pipelines, fittings, metering units, and distribution blocks shall be properly installed and securely routed. The system shall be tested to ensure adequate and consistent oil flow to all lubrication points.7. Installation of Rack & Pinion System for Tailstock: - A rack and pinion mechanism shall be installed to facilitate smooth and efficient tailstock movement. A hand wheel and operating lever shall be provided for manual operation. Minimum of 1 HP reduction gear motor along with a suitable mounting bracket and timer pulley arrangement shall be installed to enable powered tailstock movement. Accurate alignment and smooth meshing of the rack and pinion system shall be ensured to prevent backlash and uneven motion. Presently the tailstock is manual movement (screw mechanism).
