REMOVAL OF RUBBER AND PAINT DEPOSITS AND APPLICATION OF POLYMER MODIFIED EMULSION PME ON RUNWAY

Material & Labour for removal of runway marking paint from bituminous / concrete portion of runway using high pressure water / ultra high pressure water vaccumising machine, including removal of all debris / FOD complete all as specified and directed by Engineer-in- Charge.

Material & Labour for Removal of Rubber deposits from runway surface using waterblasting cum vaccuming machine with suitable operating water pressure and removal of total rubber deposits from rigid and flexible portion of runway without use of any chemical and without any damage to the existing surface complete all as specified and directed by Engr-in- Charge. NOTES:- (i) Total Rubber deposit should be removed to outside MoD land and the debris / water vaccumed simultaneously leaving no FOD so that the Runway is avialable for operation immediately. (ii) In emergency situation the machine should EXIT from the runway in less than 2 minutes without leaving any FOD. (iii) Contractor shall get the friction test done on runway surface before and after removal of rubber deposition with pendulam method from the authorised agency as approved by the GE and submit report. (iv) After carrying out rubber removal operation on the runway, the friction reading of the rubber removed segment should be minimum 0.55u. (v) The surface of both concrete / bitumen surface ( rigid / flexible) shall not get any kind of damages during the process of rubber removal nor to any adjoining areas, joint filling etc. damages if any, shall be made good by the contractor without any extra cost. (vi) Equipment SH- 3000/ SH- 5000/ SH- 8000 as approved by GE and comprising of high pressure pump, Air compressor, water tanks, integrated as one unit shall be used for rubber removal operation.

M&L for cleaning the runway surface by brushing with wire brushes for removing caked mud etc, sweeping with compressor air blower to remove all loose dust and dirt etc or taking out dust or existing material with compressed air and making the surface free from dust, drying the surface and applying one coats of Polymer Modified Emulsion (PME) by using self propelled emulsion distribution uniformly or towed emulsion pressure sprayer, equipped for spraying the PME uniformly and mopping the total undilluted PME @ 1.00 ltr / sqm in the ratio of 1:1 (water & PME) and ensure uniform finish of total area by mechanical spraying machine with spray nozzle assembly mounted in 30mm dia carbon fiber reinforced flexible pipe (CFRP) complete all as specified and directed by Engr-in- Charge. NOTES:- (i) No price adjustment shall be applicable if excess qty of cold polymer modified emulsion is used under this item. (ii) A performance guarantee certificate for two years shall be submitted by the contractor after physical completion of work. (iii) Application of PME shall be done through authorised applicator. (iv) Contractor shall get the friction test done on runway surface pendulam method from the authorised agency as approved by the GE and submit report.

Preparing new concrete / bituminous surface and painting lines , dashes ( continous / un-interrupted), arrows, letters etc exceeding 10 cm width with two coats of water based road marking paint in white , golden , yellow or red colour over a coat of primer complete using road painting machine complete all as specified and directed by Engr-in- Charge.

NOTES:- ( Applicable for ser item No. 01 to 04) (i) This work will be carried out as per availability of runway / user requirement. If work is to be carried out at night, contractor will make all necessary arrangement viz vehicle mounted lighting system, generator set etc at his own cost and quote the rates accordingly. The quoted rates by contractor shall include all details mentioned in this note and nothing extra shall be paid on this account. (ii) Total rubber deposit should be removed to outside MoD land . (iii) The surface of both concrete / bitumen shall not get any kind of damages during the process of rubber removal nor to any adjoining areas, joint filling etc. damages if any, shall be made good by the contractor without any extra cost. (iv) No price adjustement shall be applicable if excess quantity of polymer modified emulision (PME), than that mentioned above is used depending upon condition of the surface. (v) Work will be carried out in phased manner as per availability of runway for maintenance and as directed by the Engr -in- Charge.
