WATERPROOFING TREATMENT ON ROOFS
M&L for dismantling and removal of existing waterproofing treatment of any type and thickness such as bituminous felt, APP membrane, or similar polymeric waterproofing membrane, including removal of vegetation, moss, or plants, cleaning the exposed surface, and disposal of all debris outside MOD land, complete all as specified and directed. NOTE:- Demolition of concrete, screed, or other topping over RCC roof, if any below the waterproofing treatment, shall be measured and paid for separately under relevant items.
M&L for dismantling and removal of existing brick or PCC tiles, including brick coba and underlying screed bed or bedding mortar, any thickness including cleaning the exposed surface and disposing of all debris outside MOD land, complete all as specified and directed (NOTE: Demolition of concrete over RCC roof, if any below roof treatment, shall be measured separately.
Demolition of plain cement concrete padding over roof of buildings and removal of debris and disposing outside MOD area complete all as specified and as directed. NOTE: For measurement purpose, only thickness of cement concrete portion shall be considered.
M&L for cutting open visible cracks in existing roofs or terraces to a ‘V’ groove, cleaning thoroughly to remove dust, loose particles, and laitance, and filling with approved acrylic / epoxy crack filler paste, complete all as specified and directed by the Engineer-in-Charge. (MAKE: STP, PLASTISEAL / FOSROC, RENDEROC CS / SIKA, SIKADUR-20)
M&L for preparation of old concrete surfaces such as roofs, terraces, and parapets, etc., by picking, wire-brushing, and sweeping clean to remove dust, dirt, laitance, oil, grease, and all loose or de-bonded concrete/screed layers, washing down with clean water to remove foreign matter, and applying one coat of polymer-modified cement slurry consisting of cement mixed with approved polymer (such as SBR or Acrylic Latex) as per manufacturer's recommendations, thoroughly brushed over the cleaned and damp surface to form a uniform bonding/waterproofing coat ensuring full coverage at all junctions and corners complete all as specified and directed by Engineer-in-Charge. (Make: STP – SHALSBR LATEX / FOSROC – NITOBOND SBR / SIKA – SIKA LATEX)
M&L for PCC 1:2:4 type B-0 (using 12.5 mm graded stone aggregate) as padding over roof slab for grade correction, laid over polymer-modified cement slurry, mixed with and including liquid waterproofing compound as per manufacturer’s recommendations, finished even & smooth, laid to proper slope with roof kerbs and rounded or chamfered edges, complete all as specified & directed. Note : Water Proofing compound shall be measured and paid seperately as "Supply only". Polymer modified slurry, to be applied before laying of PCC padding shall be measured and paid seperately)

M&L for applying a 10 mm thick layer of cement mortar (1:3) mixed with SBR Latex as per manufacturer’s recommendations, over old or new PCC padding, to form a smooth and even surface, including rounding/angling at the junctions of roof slab and parapet walls, complete all as specified and directed. (NOTE: Polymer modified slurry, to be applied before laying of cement mortar bedding shall be measured and paid seperately)
M&L for cleaning the surface thoroughly to remove all dust, dirt, loose particles, oil, and other foreign matter, and applying Single-component aliphatic polyurethane-based liquid-applied waterproof coating having a minimum Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) of 106 on inaccessible roofs, terraces, and parapets in three coats (including one primer coat of the same material diluted with clean water in the ratio recommended by the manufacturer) at specified intervals, applied to achieve the manufacturer’s recommended dry film thickness (DFT), including curing, finishing, and testing, complete all as specified and directed by the Engineer-in-Charge. (MAKE: STP, SHALIURETHANE BTD / SIKA, SIKALASTIC-590 IN / FOSROC, NITOPROOF 725) NOTES:- Dry Film Thickness (DFT): (1) The total dry film thickness (DFT) of the polyurethane waterproofing membrane (excluding the diluted primer coat) shall not be less than 1.2 mm for the complete system (two finish coats), applied in multiple coats as per the manufacturer’s technical data sheet. (2) Wet film thickness (WFT) shall be measured for each coat, and the cumulative WFT shall be converted to DFT using the manufacturer’s solids-by-volume data. (3) The final acceptance tolerance shall be ±10%. (4) In case any manufacturer’s technical data sheet specifies a higher minimum DFT, the higher value shall govern.
-Ditto– but applying single-component polyurethane waterproof coating on accessible roofs and terraces in the following sequence:- (i) Cleaning the surface thoroughly to remove all dirt, dust, grease, and loose particles, ensuring a sound, dry, and smooth base. (ii) Applying one coat of single-component polyurethane primer compatible with the waterproofing membrane, as per manufacturer’s instructions. (iii) Applying two coats of polyurethane liquid waterproofing membrane at specified intervals and to the manufacturer’s recommended dry film thickness, ensuring uniform and pinhole-free coverage. (iv) Supplying and laying a layer of 200 GSM non-woven geotextile fabric or 250 micron HDPE separation sheet (as directed by Engineer-in-Charge) over the treated waterproof surface for protection with necessary overlaps. (v) Supplying and laying 10 mm thick ceramic roof tiles of approved shade and make, laid over and including 10 mm thick screed bed in polymer-modified cement mortar (1:4). Tiles shall be fixed with spacers to maintain uniform joints of 3–5 mm; after proper setting, spacers shall be removed and joints filled with epoxy grout, finished flush and neat. Make of PU Membrane: STP – ShaliUrethane LHM / Sika – Sikalastic-610 R IN / Fosroc – Nitoproof 600 Standard) Make of Tiles: Johnson Endura Cool Roof Tiles or equivalent approved make as specified in the tender. NOTE FOR ITEM NO 11.12: – Minimum Dry Film Thickness (DFT): (a) The total Dry Film Thickness (DFT) of the polyurethane waterproofing membrane (excluding primer coat) shall not be less than 1.2 mm after full curing, irrespective of surface type (accessible or inaccessible roofs, terraces, or parapets). (b) The system shall comprise one primer coat and two or more finish coats of approved single-component polyurethane or fibre-reinforced polyurethane coating, applied strictly as per manufacturer’s Technical Data Sheet (TDS). (c) Where the manufacturer’s TDS specifies a higher DFT, the higher value shall prevail. (d) Wet Film Thickness (WFT) shall be measured during application using a wet film gauge, and cumulative WFT readings shall be recorded to ensure the achieved DFT meets or exceeds the specified minimum. (e) The finished surface shall be continuous, pinhole-free, and of uniform thickness. (f) Acceptance tolerance for DFT shall be ±10% of the specified minimum. (g) No protective or overburden layers (such as tiles or screed) shall be applied until the coating has fully cured and successfully passed ponding / adhesion tests to the satisfaction of the Engineer-in-Charge.
M&L for repairing spalled / damaged concrete surfaces in RCC members (slabs, beams, columns, ceilings, etc.) with polymer-modified repair mortar and associated materials, complete as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge. The work shall be executed in the following steps: (a) Step 1 (Marking and Cutting) :- Mark the damaged / spalled area in a regular shape (square or rectangular) and cut the edges to a depth of at least 10–15 mm using a chisel or mechanical cutter to expose sound concrete and reinforcement, avoiding feather edges. (b) Step 2 (Removal and Cleaning):- Remove all loose, delaminated, and unsound concrete. Clean the surface thoroughly using wire brushes, compressed air, or water jet to remove dust, laitance, and loose particles. (c) Step 3 (Cleaning of Reinforcement):- Expose the corroded reinforcement fully. Clean the steel thoroughly by mechanical wire brushing, rust remover, or other approved means to remove all scales and corrosion. (d) Step 4 (Application of Rust Remover):- Apply rust remover chemical to the cleaned reinforcement bars using a brush and allow it to react as per manufacturer’s instructions. (e) Step 5 (Zinc Rich Primer on Reinforcement):- After cleaning with water and drying, apply one coat of zinc-rich primer to the reinforcement bars to prevent further corrosion. Allow adequate drying as per manufacturer’s recommendations. (f) Step 6 (Bonding Coat):- Apply a bonding coat of approved bonding agent (e.g., polymer latex / epoxy bonding agent) on the prepared concrete surface. The repair mortar shall be applied while the bonding coat is still tacky. (g) Step 7 (Application of Repair Mortar) : Rebuild the damaged area with polymer-modified repair mortar (pre-packed, non-shrink, approved brand) or micro-concrete for larger or deeper repairs, restoring the original profile and level. (h) Step 8 (Fixing of Chicken Mesh) : Provide and fix chicken wire mesh (12.5 mm × 22 SWG, hexagonal type) over the affected area, fixed with nails or screws at suitable spacing to ensure proper anchorage with the surface. contd....
M&L for complete removal of existing treatment on old painted surfaces of walls by scrapping and removing layers of all wall finishes including cleaning, watering to make the surface clean and free from dust, etc including necessary scaffolding, safety and protective measures complete all as specified and directed. (NOTE: This item shall not be considered for areas measured under Item No. 16 here-in-after)
Taking down Cement Plaster on external/internal walls, ceilings, soffit of Chajja, roof projections, etc including raking out Joints, hacking for Key, scrubbing down with water and removing Debris, etc. to Outside MD/AF Land, incl necessary scaffolding etc complete all as specified and directed.
M&L for Rendering (Internal) 15mm thick in cement mortar 1:6 on Brick Walls or on Concrete Surfaces, Plastered Surfaces finished Even and Smooth without using Extra Cement including necessary scaffloding complete all as specified and directed.
M&L for Rendering 5.0mm thick in cement mortar 1:3 on Concrete Surfaces of Ceilings, Plastered Surfaces finished even and smooth without using extra cement including necessary scaffloding complete all as specified and directed.

M&L for Rough Cast Plaster on brick or concrete surfaces, comprising undercoat of cement and sand mortar (1:3) not less than 10 mm thick, finished fair and while the undercoat is still in plastic state, applying rough cast mixture consisting of crushed stone or fine gravel mixed with coarse sand and cement in the proportion of 1:1:1 by volume, and finishing the surface even and uniform in texture, complete all as specified and directed.
M&L for preparing newly/untreated Plastered surfaces of Ceiling and applying Three Coats of White Wash, complete all as specified and directed.
M&L for preparing New/Undecorated Plastered Surfaces of Walls, applying a coat of suitable cement primer followed by a Coat of 2.0 mm thick Wall Putty (in two layers of 1mm thick) including rubbing down with Sand Paper to obtain a smooth finish surface and finishing with Two Coats of Acrylic Distemper (as approved) as per desired shade/tint complete all as specified and as directed.
M&L for preparation of newly plastered or undecorated wall surfaces and applying two coats of exterior-grade acrylic emulsion paint having anti-dust and anti-algae properties, tinted to approved shade with stainer as required, over and including one coat of suitable exterior primer, applied as per manufacturer’s instructions, on wall surfaces of any description over 10 cm in width or girth, up to four storeys height, including necessary scaffolding, safety gear, and all preparatory works, complete all as specified and directed.
M&L for preparing newly plastered or undecorated rough cast wall surfaces and applying two coats of exterior-grade acrylic emulsion paint having anti-dust and anti-algae properties, tinted to approved shade with stainer as required, over and including one coat of suitable exterior primer, applied strictly as per manufacturer’s instructions, complete all as specified and directed.

Demolition of Cement Concrete (un-reinforced) in Toilet Floors, Sunken Floors including taking out floor tiles, PCC, mortar of any description including raking out joints, hacking for key, scrubbing down with water and removing debris, etc. to Outside of MD/AF Land, complete all as specified and as directed.
M&L for applying comprehensive waterproofing treatment to sunken floor areas of toilets, baths, and similar wet locations, including all materials, labour, and equipment, complete as per specifications and direction of the Engineer-in-Charge and comprising the following operations carried out in sequence:- (a) Step 1 (Surface Preparation):- Clean the entire sunken floor area and adjoining walls of all loose materials, laitance, dust, grease, oil, and any foreign matter. Cut and repair cracks, honeycombs, and voids using polymer-modified repair mortar or crack filler paste as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge. Ensure the surface is sound, even, and free from standing water before proceeding. (b) Step 2 (Fillet Formation):- Provide and form a 45° fillet (coving) at the junction of floor and wall all around the periphery using Polymer Modified Mortar (PMM) (Cement : Sand = 1:3, with polymer additive/SBR Latex). Ensure smooth finishing and proper bonding with both wall and floor surfaces. (c) Step 3 (Priming/Bond Coat):- Apply one coat of polymer-modified cement slurry over the complete area, including all joints and fillets. The mix proportion shall be Cement : Polymer : Water = 1 : 0.4 : 1 by weight. Allow the surface to become tacky before proceeding with waterproofing coats. (d) Step 4 (Cementitious Waterproofing Coating):- Apply two coats of cementitious waterproofing slurry (Cement + approved polymer such as SBR / Acrylic Latex) over the entire sunken floor and extend it 300 mm up the adjoining walls. The second coat shall be applied at right angles to the first after allowing the first coat to air-dry for 4–6 hours. Ensure uniform coverage and film thickness as per manufacturer’s recommendation. (e) Step 5 (Provn of GI spout pipe):- Provide and fix a 40 mm dia medium-class G.I. pipe spout at the lowest point / lateral slope, projecting at least 250 mm beyond the outer most face of the wall, positioned below the floor drain pipe. Seal the joint around the pipe using polymer-modified mortar / non-shrink grout / epoxy sealant, ensuring water tightness.
