Redoing of Madras Terrace roof in all floors with one layer of brick on edge course laid as first layer over the existing Teakwood joists, Beams, I Sections, etc., which are placed at roof level in all floors using specially manufactured Terrace bricks for heritage works of size 150mm x 75mm x 25mm in lime mortar 1:1.5 (one lime and one and half sand). The second layer is laid with specially manufactured Terrace bricks for Heritage works of size 150mm x 75mm x 25mm in flat manner in lime mortar 1:2 ( one lime and t\wo sand) 20mm thick as base layer laid over the top of brick on edge course. Brick jelly lime concrete using broken brick jelly of size 20mm uniform gauge in pure slaked lime (no sand to be added) to the proportion of brick jelly to lime being 32:12.50 by volume laid over the second layer of terrace bricks for an average consolidated thickness of 100mm in a single layer of required slope/level as directed and finished by beating the concrete with wooden beaters of approved pattern, keeping the surface constantly wet by sprinkling lime jaggery (PALM JAGGERY) water. (Galnut of 10kg and jaggery of 10kg per one sq.m). The beating of the concrete is done continuously until the brick jelly lime concrete is well hardened. After ensuring the harden surface of brick jelly lime concrete, flat tiles of 150mm x 150mm x 25mm of specially manufactured superior quality to suit the heritage works is laid in two consecutive layers in lime mortar 1:2 (one lime and two sand) 15mm thick for each layer of flat tiles. The base mortar provided for the top course of flat tiles is mixed with SBR (Synthetic Butadiene Rubber) Polymer at the rate of 0.5 litres for one sq.m is applied for water proofing chemical treatment including neat finishing.
The Materials like Terrace bricks for the heritage work as from Thirukkattupalli and Pollachi lime should only be used. The period of interval between laying of I layer, II layer of terrace bricks, brick jelly lime concrete and flat tiles in two consecutive layers as directed by the departmental officers. The Madras Terrace roof laid over the roof joist, beam, etc., is well embedded in the wall to the required distance as directed by the Engineer In Charge. (The rate includes the cost of all materials like terrace brick for heritage works, brick jelly 20mm, Pollachi lime, flat tiles and SBR chemicals and labour charges for laying all items of works). Pollachi lime should only be used for preparation of mortar, brick jelly lime concrete etc.. The Terrace bricks, flat tiles should got approved by the Executive Engineer before use on works. The overall thickness of madras terrace roof laid is to be of 300mm as detailed below. Laying of roofing with Mangalore tiles over flat tiles set in Lime mortar 1:2 ( one of lime and two of sand) using Pollachi lime in all floors with flat tiles of size 150mm x 150mm x 12mm including Teak wood reepers of size (50mm x 12mm) complete complying with standard specification and as directed by the departmental officers. Making, supplying and fixing teak wood panelled Door shutters openable type by using well seasoned teak wood of superior quality and approved variety as per the original design and pattern instructed by the Engineer in charge. The door shutter is made with two number of 120mmx40mm size vertical styles, top rail, lock rails and bottom rails of size 125mmx40mm,250mm x 40mm, 170mmx40mm respectively. Paving the floor with best quality Heritage patterned Tiles of size 200 x 200 x 20mm of approved colour, shade and quality laid in cement mortar 1:3 (one cement and three sand) 20mm thick in all floors and the top pointed with the white cement mixed same colour pigments etc., complete complying with standard specification. (The make and brand of the tiles should be got approved by Executive Engineer before use on works)
Renewing the damaged sunshade with new superior quality of teak wood, Manglore tile roofing at the top. The sunshade if fixed on wall with teak wood of size 80mmx 100 mm fixed on the wall directly, additional inclined brcing provides on the sides of window using teak wood sized 80mm x 80mm , the top teak wood 50mm x 80mm in cross section from the wall is rested at end running member 80mm x 100mm . The top manglore tiles are rested on best teak wood reepers of size 50mm x 25mm . the rate inclusive of cost of dismantling damged tile, teak wood members without damaging to the wall, refixing, labour charges, but excluding of scaffolding charges, etc., complete complying with standard specification and as directed by the departmental officers.

Finishing the new/old plastered surface with Class C Lime as per IS 712-1973 in Three layers two base coat and one top coat of fine quality Metakaolin lime (M-Lime) which is a dehydroxylated form of the clay mineral Kaolinite. The top finished coat should be done as per approved colour and texture, or as directed by conversation architect/engineer in charge etc complete complying with standard specification and as directed by the departmental officers.
Providing pest control with antitermite treatement drilling holes at junction of walls with floors at 300mm intervals and injucting chemical emulsion on those with cement etc. making holes along the vertical surface out side the walls at 150mm intervals to the depth of 450mm pointing chemical emulsion into the holes and closing holes with chemical etc. spraying all surface of treatment is to be done as per IS code no:5313/ Part III 1981 with approved chemical.(The chemical is to be used on the work should be got approved by the Executive Engineer before use on work) etc complete complying with standard specification and as directed by the departmental officers.
Laying Brick jelly lime concrete in lime mortar 1:2 ( One lime and two brick jelly ) (no sand to be added) using 20 mm gauge brick jelly for foundation, flooring including dewatering wherever necessary and laid in layers well rammed, consolidated etc., complete complying with standard specification and as directed by the departmental officers.
Supplying and fixing in position best approved of Cast iron rain water down fall pipes including cost of necessary shoe, bend, cast iron gratings of required size and special clamps, brass screws, nails, etc., and fixing of cast iron gratings at junction of parapet and the roof slab including finishing neatly etc., complete. The rate shall be inclusive of cast of removable cast iron grating. The pipe shall be fixed in wall with special type of "U" clamp at the centre of the pipe line in addition to those for more than 3.0 meter pipe length, etc., complete complying with standard specification.
Construction of mortar pit of inner size 0.90m x 0.45m with brick partition wall 11.50cm thick in cement mortar 1:3 (one cement and three sand) for 60cm height with necessary earth work open excavation for a size of 1.43m x 0.98m to a depth of 0.91m and sand filling for 15cm thick, Plain Cement Concrete 1:5:10 (one cement, five sand and ten 40mm HBG stone jelly), 8cm thick with plastering 1:5 (one cement and sand), 12mm thick on both sides and top etc., complying with standard specification and as directed by the departmental officers.
Collecting the fallen damaged Madras terrace roof which includes brick on edge, flat tiles 3 layers, weathering course and intermediate lime layers, segregating them and conveyance for the inside of the building to the out side stack yard point by specialized labour by head load with necessary preventive and precautionary measures with helmet, safety belts and ropes, and from the stack yard these debries are conveyed by tipper lorries with help of JCB as on when required and as directed by the departmental officers.
Collecting the scattered debris from the campus and conveying away the same to outside by lorry to a lead of 9km including loading and unloading charges and dumping in low places and leveling etc., Complete complying with standard specification and as directed by the departmental officers.
