Determination of safe bearing capacity by (SPT ) method as described below

Item No 1:-Drilling 150 mm diameter boreholes from 0 to 10 meter depth accorinding to IS 1892-1988 and IS 1892-1979 for bldgs of KLP Accn For Med Regt No 2 (Ph-II) at Patiala.(Double Storey).

Conducting standard penetration test (SPT) as per IS 2131-1988. The testng shall be made at every change in strata at the intervals of not more than 0.50 mtr whichever is less. The test may be made at lesser intervals if specified or considered necessary as per 3.31 of IS 2131-1988.

Collection of disturbed soil samples at an interval of 0.50 mtr or change of strata.

Collection of undisturbed soil samples at an interval of 0.50 mtr or change of strata.

Conducting laboratory tests on disturbed/ undisturbed soil samples as per project requirement after completion of boring as given below :-

i)Sieve analyis

ii) Plasticity Inderx

iii)Water content

iv) Particle size analysis

v) Bulk and dry density

vi) Atterberg limit

vii) Harmful salt or organic matter if any

viii) Direct shear test ( if in case of sandy soil)

ix)Unconfined un-drained test (in case of clayey soil)

x)Consolidation test ( for Saturated soil)

xi) C,O Values

xii) Differential free swell test in case of expansive soil

xiii) Unconfined compresive strength of rock ( in case of rocky strata)

xiv) Determintion of tensile/shear strength of rock (in case of rocky strata)

xv) Quality Index for rocky strata (in case of rocky strata). In case rock is encountered the boring shall contnue upto 1.50 to 2.00 mtr in rock.

Item No 2:- Conducting California Bearing Ratio Test (CBR)Location Decided by Engr -in-Charge as per IS 2720(Part16)-1987. The Sample Collected in Accordance with the method Specify in IS-2720(Part-28)-1974 or IS 2720 (part 29 )-1975.

Soil investigation report will be submitted covering the following Parameters:-

a) Bore log chart showing depth of soil of soil strata and photo graphic record of geo exploration

b) Sub-Soil water table.

c) Proable maximum and differential settlement.

d) Safe bearing capacity based on shear and settlement criteria.

e) Recommendation for type and depth of foundatiion.

f) Site plan building wise with RL of corners of buildings.

g) Bearing capacity and depth of Fdn wrt FFL/fixed bench mark.

h) RL of Ground level/ foundation level with ref to BM should invariably be mentioned .

j) Recommended SBC for Buildings It should be given for All the bore holes, minimum at three depth viz 1.5 m,2.00m and 2.50m .IN case of security / compound wall it should be given for 1.2m,1.50m and 2.0m

k) Recommended for Strip Footing depth 1.00 Mtr, 1.50 mtr, 2.00 mtr, 2.5 mtr, 3.00 mtr with respective size of footing 1.00 mtr, 1.50 mtr, 2.00 mrt, 2.50 mtr, 3.00 mtr, 3.5 mtr, 4.00 mtr, 5.00 mtr and 6.00 mtr

Note:- a) The soil report shall be in 3 parts :-

i) Field operations.

ii) Lab testing and sub soil with soil properties.

iii) Fdn considerations and recommendation for single story double story, three story bldg (Isolated footing, raft foundation & pile foundation).

b) The report shall be submitted in quintriplicate.
