TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEY SOIL INVESTIGATION AND PLATE LOAD TEST FOR CERTAIN INFRASTRUCURE AT AIR FORCE STATION JORHAT UNDER GE AF JORHAT

The following Works are to be carried out for Soil Investigation for Construction of Certain Technical and Domestic Infrastructure at AF Station Jorhat :- (a) Boring through Sand/ Clay/ Silt Strata from Ground Level to 10.00 Metre Depth. (b) Carrying out Standard Penetration Test in Boreholes as per IS:2131-1985 (c) Collecting disturbed Samples at Every 1.0 Metre or change of Strata including Packing and Handling/ Transportation all complete. (d) Collecting undisturbed Samples at Every 1.5 Metre or change of Strata including Packing and Handling/Transportation all complete as per IS:2132-1985 (e) Carrying out Laboratory Test for the followings :- (i) Grain Size. (ii) Liquid and Plastic Limit and Plasticity Index. (iii) Natural Moisture Content. (iv) Specific Gravity. (v) Bulk and Dry Density. (vi) Shear Characteristic from undisturbed Sample using Direct Shear/Tri-axial Shear Test. (vii) Unconfined Compression Test. (viii) Consolidation Test. (ix) Free Swell Index. (f) The Report to include clearly the following Parameters :- (i) Safe Bearing Capacity of Soil. (ii) Whether effect of High Water Table been considered or not in working out SBC. Recommendation for SBC based on Shear and Settlement Criteria including Recommendation for Improvement of SBC if any. (iii) Type of Soil. (iv) Suggested Size and Depth for Tripple Storied Building. (v) Sulphate Content of Soil.

NOTE :- (a) Test should be done through NABL Approved Laboratory . (b) Photographic Records to be submitted.

Conducting Plate Load Test of 6.2 KN and submission of Report at places as directed for the purpose of K-value as per Clause 4.3.1 of IS:9214-1979 with Correction for Saturation, Bending of Plates and Load Defection Curve and with the help of Reaction Plate including Cost of all Operators and Bearing Plates required for the Testing with Transportation Charge, complete all as specified and as directed.

Carrying out Detailed Topographical Survey using Digital Total Station Instrument Marking all existing Features, Boundaries, Buildings, Carriage Ways, Trees, Electric/ Telephone Lines, Footpath, Drains, Sewer Lines, Ponds, Hillocks, Marshy Lands, Approach Roads, Main Roads, etc. using Total Station, Digital Instruments, Preparation of Drawings maintaining all the above Parameters and with all Dimensions of Perimeter, Diagonals, Angles, Marking the Position of the existing Structures with the Plinth Levels, Calculation of the Land Area in 3.00 Metre x 3.00 Metre Grid Interval and 0.30 Metre Contour Interval, complete all as specified and as directed. NOTE :- (a) Photographic Records to be submitted. (b) Level Sheet of Initial Level to be submitted in Triplicate. (c) Required Earthwork, Excavation/ Embankment to be submitted as directed.

GENERAL NOTES : FOR ALL ITEMS OF BOQ

The following Points to be included in the SSI Report (not Comprehensive, Appro-priate Data/ Information may be added as per requirement :- (a) Introduction (b) Objection of the Geotechnical Investigations (c) Details of the proposed Structures (d) Site Conditions (e) Field Investigations (f) Laboratory Test Results (g) Soil Profile (h) Allowable Bearing Capacity based on SPT ‘N’ Values, ‘c-Ø’ Value and Permi- -ssible Settlement with Sample Calculations. Complete Calculations will be submitted in Soft Copy in the same CD containing the SSI Report. The reco- -mmendation will include SBC Recommendation for 1.50 Metre, 2.00 Metre, 2.50 Metre and 3.00 Metre Width of Foundation at Depth of 1.50 Metre, 2.00 Metre and 2.50 Metre in Tabular Form for Each Location of Buildings. (j) Liquefaction Analysis with Calculations. (k) Foundation alternatives duly tabulated Building wise. (l) Clear Recommendations duly vetted by IIT/NIT/ Govt. Engg. College. A Table showing Building Name, BH No., Depth & Coordinates of the BH corrected SPT ‘N’ Values and the recommended SBC and Clear Recommendation for Depth and Type of Foundation including any Soil Improvement matching with the Site Plan should form Part of the Recommendations Foundation including any required Soil Improvement matching with the Site Plan should form Part of the Recommendations. (m) Annexure including Bore Logs, c- Ø and indicated for BHs, Likelihood of Water-logging at Site must also be checked.

If the Soil/ Water has High (more than Permissible) contents of Sulphate, Chlorides or any other Deleterious Materials, the same should be brought out and appropriate Recommendation be offered. The required Chemical Analysis needs to be undertaken for the same.

All relevant IS Code on the subject should be followed and mentioned at appropriate places.

Remedial Measures if any for Improvemnt of SBC shall also be included in Report.

In case SBC is lees than 7.00 Tonne/Sqm, the Report will also recommend appro-priate Pile Foundation alongwith Pile Capacity Calculation. In case of feasebility of Raft Foundation, SBC Calculation for Raft alongwith settlement Analysis also to be submitted.
