(cm²). Larger head sizes provide a larger sweet spot, which can be forgiving for off-center hits,
while smaller head sizes offer better control.
String Pattern: The string pattern refers to the number of main and cross strings on the racket.
A more open string pattern (e.g., 14x18) can provide more power and spin, while a denser
pattern (e.g., 16x19) offers more control.
Grip Size: Grip size is important for comfort and control. Players with smaller hands might
prefer a smaller grip, while those with larger hands might opt for a larger grip size. A
comfortable grip can help prevent injuries and improve performance.
Material and Construction: Squash rackets are typically made from materials like graphite,
carbon fiber, or composite materials. High-quality materials can enhance the racket's
durability, power, and control.
Stiffness/Flex: The stiffness or flexibility of a racket affects the feel and power of your shots. A
stiffer racket provides more power but can be less forgiving on off-center hits. A more flexible
racket offers better control but may sacrifice some power.
Length: Squash rackets are usually around 27 inches (68.6 cm) in length. Unlike in tennis,
where racket length can vary, squash racket lengths are fairly standardized.
Brand and Model: Different brands offer a variety of racket models with unique features. Some
popular squash racket brands include Head, Tecnifibre, Dunlop, Prince, and Wilson, among

standardized based on their size, weight, and bounce characteristics. The World Squash
Federation (WSF) sets the specifications for squash balls. As of my last knowledge update in
September 2021, here are the technical specifications for squash balls:
Size: Squash balls are small and have a specific diameter. The standard size for a squash ball
is approximately 40 mm (1.57 inches) in diameter.
Weight: Squash balls are categorized by their weight, which is measured in grams. The weight
of a squash ball varies based on its type or "dot" marking, indicating its level of play:
Single Yellow Dot: Approximately 24 grams
Red Dot: Approximately 39-41 grams
Blue Dot: Approximately 41-44 grams
Bounce Characteristics: Squash balls are also categorized based on their bounce
characteristics, which is closely related to their level of play and compression. The compression
of a squash ball affects its bounce. The higher the compression, the lower the bounce.
Single Yellow Dot: Very low bounce, highest compression
Double Yellow Dot: Low bounce, high compression
Red Dot: Moderate bounce, medium compression
Blue Dot: Higher bounce than red dot, lower compression
