Charges for the operation and maintenance of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of 20 kLD capacity, and operation of the motors at sewage sumps, treated water sumps, and collection wells in two 8-hour shifts (6:00 AM to 10:00 PM) at IIT Madras Discovery Campus This includes the operation and maintenance (routine and preventive) of pumps, valves, motors, gearboxes, auto/manual screens, blowers, decanters, filtration units with backwash arrangements, chemical dosing pumps, sludge drying units, flow meters, sensors, and all other plant equipment in the STP, including periodic cleaning of all tanks as per the attached schedule and housekeeping of the premises. The contractor shall also carry out the mixing of chemicals; lubrication of machinery, equipment, motors, gears, and gland packings; collection of treated and untreated sewage samples; maintenance of log books and registers; monitoring and recording of periodic water quality data; and complete operation and maintenance of the STP in accordance with the manufacturer's operation and maintenance manuals.

The rate quoted shall be inclusive of labour charges for servicing, dismantling and reinstallation of blowers, motors, valves, pumps, and other equipment and machinery in the STP, as well as the supply of chemicals, lubrincants and other consumables required for sewage treatment as per the manufacturer's specificationsand sampling and testing for effluent water quality parameters (1) pH, 2) EC µS/cm, 3) Turbidity NTU, 4) TDS mg/L, 5) Alkalinity, 6) Hardness mg/L, 7) Chloride mg/L, 8) Sulphate mg/L, 9) Nitrate-N mg/L, 10) Nitrite-N mg/L, 11) Ammonia-N mg/L, 12) Phosphate mg/L, 13) COD mg/L, 14) BOD mg/L, 15) TC MPN/100mL, 16) FC mg/L MPN/100mL) of treated permeate water through NABL accredited third party laboratory. However, the rate shall exclude the cost of electricity, breakdown maintenance materials, painting of equipment/plants, and materials required for replacement or repair of STP parts and components, which will be arranged by IIT Madras as and when required.

Charges for the operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) of 35 kLD capacity, and operation of the motors at the pump room in two 8-hour shifts (6:00 AM to 10:00 PM) at IIT Madras Discovery Campus This includes the operation and maintenance (routine and preventive) of pumps, blowers, valves, motors, gearboxes, auto/manual coarse and fine screens, NaOCl and alum dosing pumps, pressure sand filters, activated carbon filters with backwash arrangements, and other equipment and instruments, including sensors, flow meters, TDS meters, pH meters, etc., in the WTP. The scope also includes the necessary periodic cleaning of all tanks as per the attached schedule. The contractor shall also carry out the mixing of chemicals; lubrication of machinery, equipment, motors, gears, and gland packings; collection of treated and untreated water samples; maintenance of log books and registers; monitoring and recording of periodic water quality data; and complete operation and maintenance of the WTP in accordance with the manufacturer's operation and maintenance manuals. The contractor shall maintain the water quality as per the respective standard.

The contractor shall be responsible for the disposal of solid waste collected from various units through a licensed local vendor, as and when required. The contractor shall also dispose of dried sludge from the sludge drying beds to the compost yard or outside the campus, as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge. The contractor shall conduct regular inspections throughout the campus for leakages and overflows up to the first delivery points at underground sumps (UG sumps) and overhead tanks, including pumping mains, distribution lines, pipelines, pumps, and valves and report to Engineer in-charge.
