Carrying out soil exploration and investigation including preparation and submission of report duly vetted by IIT/NIT/ Govt Engineering College all including as describd below

Mobilisation of Mechanical drilling equipment / rig and setting of boring/drilling rig as required/directed by Engineer-in-charge

Boring 150mm dia bore hole in any type of soil and Nx size in Rock upto depth of 12 mtr. (To ensure that boulders or layers of cementeous soil is not mistaken for bed rock, core drilling to be done to a depth of atleast 3.0m in bed rock in areas where boulders are found & collection/ preparation of rock samples and determination of bulk density, water absorption and compressive strength is done. However the maximum depth of bore hole is 12m in any case.

Carrying out Standard Penetration test(SPT) including collection of disturbed soil samples in bore holes at every 1.5m depth or any change in strata and submit the report with all requisite data.

Collection of undisturbed soil sample at 1.5m intervals or at any change in strata in 150mm bore thin walled tube including waxing, sealing, packing and transporting to the lab.

Conducting necessary tests as per relevant IS codes :-1892/NBC 2005/SP36 on all collected samples which include the determination of:-

(a) Atterberg limits, Liquid limit, Plastic limit , Shrinkage limit

(b) Wet and dry density, degree of saturation of soil.

(c) Unit weight (Bulk density), Natural moisture content, Plasticity index, Specific gravity

(d) Grain size analysis, Identification and classification of soil, Soil particle size distribution using sieve/hydrometer analysis

(e) Shear parameter (C-ɸ Analysis), Tri-axial shear test and C-ɸ determination.

(f) Consolidation test and permeability test

(l) Free swelling Index and Swelling pressure

(g) Specific gravity test for sand/rock

(h) Crushing strength, Degree of weathering (CR value) and RQD of rock samples

(k) Chemical analysis of ground water sample (min 02 samples) (water to be obtained from the bottom of bore hole)

(m) Depth of water table below Ground level (maximum and minimum)

(n) Presence of loose soil if any and its depth

(o) If weak soil with lesser N value as specified in Table-I of IS 1893(Part-I):2016 is encountered then evaluation of liquefaction potential shall be assessed and remedial action to be adopted shall be specified.

(p) Chemical analysis of soil and recommendation and type of cement to be used for RCC foundation.

(q) Recommendation for filling under floors and filling under protection including plinth protection.

Submission of report in four sets giving site plan showing the test points, sub soil profile, results of field investigations, laboratory test results, calculation of SBC for shallow type of foundation for different sizes, Comprehensive type of foundation.

Notes : Bore Log at field shall be verified by Engr - in- Charge, Relevant IS Codes shall be referred for code of practice and design of foundation
