Carrying out the soil investigation and determining SBC by field work and laboratory studies including and comprising of :- (a) Mobilisation of plants equipments including men and materials required at site of soil investigation, setting of boring/drilling as required and demobilization of plants and equipments on completion of work etc complete (which includes conveyance of sample collected to testing lab as required for the purpose of testing). (b) Shifting of entire arrangement from one bore to another bore hole location and setting of boring/drilling as required and directed. (c) Drilling / boring 4’’ diameter bore holes upto 3.0 m depth (or refusal if met earlier) in soil strata with boulders, gravels. Arrangement for drilling / boring must be catered for by the consultants and no excuses for assuming any kind of strata shall be acceptable. “Open test pits of any depth (0.6 m to 3.0 m) will not be allowed to be performed as the sites of boreholes are in close proximity to the runway / manoeuvring surfaces.”
(d) Carrying out Standard Penetration Test (SPT) as per IS 2131: 1986 with special attention to following clauses of the IS: (i) The equipment used shall provide a clean bore hole, 100 mm in diameter (4’’) for insertion of the sampler to ensure that the penetration test is performed on undisturbed soil and shall permit driving of split spoon sampler to obtain penetration record and the sample as specified in the IS procedure. (ii) While driving the casing, it shall not be driven below the level at which the test is to be carried out or from where the soil sample is to be taken. (iii) In case wash boring is adapted for cleaning the bore hole, side-discharge bits are permissible, but in no case, a bottom-discharge bit is permitted. While boring through soils, which may be disturbed by flow of water into the borehole, no water should be added to the borehole while boring above water table. (iv) Collection of disturbed soil samples at every 1 m depth interval as well as at any change of strata. (v) collection of one undisturbed sample
(e) Collection of undisturbed soil sample at every 1.00 m intervals or at any change of strata in 100mm bore thin walled tube including waxing, sealing, packing transporting to the lab. (f) Conducting necessary test on all collected Disturbed/ Undisturbed/ SPT samples which includes the determination of soil bearing capacity (i) Atterberg limits (ii) Natural moisture content (iii) Wet and dry density, unit weight (iv) Soil/Particle size ( soil grain size) (v) Consolidation test including pre consolidation pressure. (vi) Tri-axial shear test (vii) Shrinkage limit (viii) Specific gravity test (ix) Direct shear test ( C & O determination) (x) Unconfined compression test (xi) Crushing strength of rock samples (xii) Free swell index (xiii) Soluble salt content (Sulphate, Chloride and PH content)
(g) Compilation of data and submission of report in 04 copies ( as per NBC 2016, Part 6, section 2, Para 3.5) (i) containing scope of investigation (ii) method of drilling bore hole (iii) sampling of bore hole (iv) visual description of soil sample (v) ground levels along with ground water table level (vi) Test results ( both laboratory and field) including graphs. (vii) Photographs of equipment used and samples collected with descriptions (viii) photographs of laboratory test samples after testing (ix) general observations of vicinity ( Streams, foundation system adopted etc) (x) longitudinal and transverse section profiles of substrata (xi) analysis of field and laboratory test results (xii) calculations for arriving at allowable bearing capacity as per IS and pile capacities at suitable depth (xiii) recommendation for suitability of foundation
Carrying out topographical land survey with Total station (having least count of second) by dividing the area of runway, Parallel taxi Track, D-Loop, W Loop Eastern Loop, Satluj dispersal into grid of 2.00mX2.00m. Static water tanks, trees ,transformers, poles, bridges, overhead Tanks etc Shall be marked accurately. Preparing drawing in A-1 size (three copies ), recording the reduced levels at suitable intervals, points of abrupt change in levels ,fixing temperary bench marks (TBM) and marking them on ground with paint as required, calculation of area and other details of surveyed pockets with submission of three sets of coloured drawing alongwith one set of soft copy on compact disk (CD) of the 1:1000 or suitable scale and plotting on Auto card. This also includes preparation of site plan and preparing three coloured drawings on A-1 size paper along with CD of site plan complete all as specified and directed.
Determination of California Bearing Ratio (CBR) value of soil as per IS 2720-16: 1987 (Laboratory determination of CBR) at locations on the Left and Right side of the Runway and parallel Taxi Track in a staggered fashion as directed by GE.
Determination of Modulus of Subgrade Reaction (K value in Kg / cubic cm) as per IS 9214: 1979 by using 75 cm diameter Plate at locations on the Left and Right side of the Runway and Parallel Taxi Track in a staggered manner as directed by the GE. *IS 2720-1 (1983) is not relevant for determination of Modulus of Subgrade Reaction test.
Submission of detailed report by doing and including (a) Analysis of existing drainage pattern (with the help of drawings) of surface run-off of rainwater based on topography in the Airfield Area (which includes the complete area surrounding the Main Runway, Parallel Taxi Track and the manoeuvring loops Delta and Whisky) (b) Analysis of existing drainage pattern (with the help of drawings) of surface run-off of rainwater based on topography in the Domestic Area (c) Recommended drainage plan for the airfield area considering the raising of runway and parallel taxi track by approximately 60 cm and 80 cm after re-surfacing is carried out. Note: This report shall include drawings indicating existing drains and their capacity, dimensions etc
