FEASIBILITY STUDY ON RAIN WATER HARVESTING AT BPCL BINA REFINERY STAFF COLONY

Introduction: Availability of natural resources, particularly water, for people of India is inequitable at global level. With a view to limited availability and increasing demand of water, consistency and popularization of the water conservation study and improvement of water use efficiency is a necessity. The Central Water Commission with the support of Central Ground Water Board, Govt. of India, has developed “General Guidelines for Water Audit & Water Conservation”. The present project proposes to carry out “Feasibility study on Rainwater Conservation” at BPCL Housing colony, Bina refinery , Bina, India. Objective: The study will cover: · Adequacy checking and effectiveness of rainwater harvesting (RWH) when compared to potential of existing RWH systems, if any, in BPCL housing colony. · Assessing possibilities/potential for rainwater harvesting potential in housing colony area of around 52 acres and storm water catchment, environment friendly efficient treatment for contaminated storm water (where required) and other water conservation techniques. Deliverables: · Report & presentation on the existing RWH facility, if any, with details of infrastructure, its adequacy and efficacy. Measures suggested to improve the current facility. · Report and presentation of additional area within BPCL Housing colony which can be brought under rainwater harvesting. Feasible Schemes with Cost estimation for new areas identified for RWH. Proposed Methodology: T he following activities will be carried out: I.
