APPENDIX A – UPKEEP AND MAINTENANCE OF CHERUTHONI DAM

Periodical sweeping and cleaning the top of dam twice in an year.

Cleaning the top of foot path of dam during rainy season using wire brush and quick lime.

Sweeping, washing and cleaning the floor of galleries and drift tunnels for removing dust and debris

Removing silt debris slurry earth etc from drain and depositing the soil at places pointed out within the initial lead and lift as directed by the departmental officers etc.,complete

Chipping/Chiselling the hardened calcium deposits inside the drain culvert, removing the debris including all lead and lift as per the directions of departmental officers.

PART II- Maintenance of gates of Cheruthoni dam A: Outlet Gates

Applying MP grease (Grease will be issued departmentally free of cost) to the teeth of wich unit after cleaning thoroughly the old Servocoat 120 as directed by the departmental officers.

Applying Cardium compound (Servocoat 120) (dept.supply) to the wire rope of emergency gate and service gate after cleaning the wire rope thoroughly with wire brush to remove old cardium compound as directed by the departmental officers

Applying MP Grease (Deptl.supply) to the drum brushing side rollers, trunnion bush etc to draining out the old grease as directed by the departmental officers.

Filling gear oil (deptl.supply) in the reduction unit gear box of emergency gate and service gate after draining out the old one, checking all nuts and bolts, brake adjusting etc., complete as per the direction of departmental officers at site (Cheruthoni dam)

B.Radial Gate: Cleaning the ventilators of gear boxes by using brushes and cotton waste as directed by the departmental officers

Cleaning the brake liner of the motor by using petrol and cotton waste as directed by the departmental officers

Removing the old damaged starter switches with handle and replacing with new one (deptl.supply) in position as directed by the departmental officers

Removing the old damaged press switches of the control panel and replacing with new switches (deptl.supply) including giving electrical connections as directed by the departmental officers.

Applying MP grease (will be issued departmentally free of cost) to the teeth of gear box as directed by the departmental officers.

Applying Cardium Compound (Servocoat 120) (Servocoat 120 will be issued departmentally free of cost) to the wire rope of spillway radial gates as directed by the departmental officers.

Applying MP Grease (Grease will be issued departmentally free of cost) to the drum bushing side rollers, trunnion hub, plummer block etc after pressing the old grease as directed by departmental officers.

Applying MP Grease (Grease will be issued departmentally free of cost) to the upper half of the bearing by hand application as directed by departmental officers.

Applying MP Grease (Grease will be issued departmentally free of cost) to the position indicator as directed by departmental officers.

Applying MP Grease (Grease will be issued departmentally free of cost) to the hand operational shafts as directed by departmental officers.

Filling gear oil (deptl.supply) in the reduction unit gear box of radial gate after draining out the old one, checking all nuts and bolts, brake adjusting etc., complete as per the direction of departmental officers at site (Cheruthoni dam)

APPENDIX B – UPKEEP AND MAINTENANCE OF IDUKKI DAM

Periodical sweeping and cleaning the top of Idukki dam and tunnel portion twice in an year

Cleaning the top of foot path of dam during rainy season using wire brush and applying quick lime.

Cleaning vegetation along the sides of the ladder at both banks of Idukki dam downstream side (two times) in an year

Cleaning the top of fillet and rocky areas along the sides of ladder at both banks of Idukki dam using wire brush and applying quick lime.

Sweeping and washing the floor of galleries and drift tunnels for removing dust and debries. (Twice an year)

Scraping and removing algae and cleaning the steps, adit at both banks of Idukki dam using wire brush and applying quick lime.

Chipping/Chiselling the hardened calcium deposits of average thickness 0.35m at entrance and 0.15m and removing the debris, including all lead and lift as per the directions of departmental officers.

APPENDIX C : LABOUR SUPPLY

Supplying experienced personnel for assisting Deptl.staff in taking instrument readings, survey works such as net levelling, gallery levelling collimation survey, water level reading, mechanical and plumbing maintenance works such as operation of lift, DG set etc, in Idukki and Cheruthoni dams, operation and maintenance of vertical and radial gates in Cheruthoni dam daily or as and when required with two persons in 8.00 hrs duty per shift. Maintaining dam premises clean including lift rooms, sign boards etc., as per the direction from department officers. The charge inclusive of transportation of labours and tools to and fro to the dam site.

Supplying a qualified and experienced electrician for electrical maintenance works such as operation, maintenance and keeping log for DG sets in Idukki and Cheruthoni dams, operation of vertical and radial gates in Cheruthoni dam daily or as and when required in 8.00 hrs duty per shift. The charges inclusive of transportation of labours and tools to and fro to the dam site.

Supplying part time sweeper for sweeping inside and premises of Idukki and Cheruthoni CCTv control rooms. Clean waste bin placed on all guard rooms at lease thrice a week or whenever required.
