General Notes Applicable to all BOQ Items
1) The make/model/brand for all the BOQ items shall be as per suggestive makes of Annexure-B of Section-VII of the tender document. The make/model/brand mentioned in Annexure-B of Section-VII of the tender document is merely for guidance and bidders can prefer any other make which is meeting technical specifications given under Section-V and Schedule of Quantities of Tender document and shall confirm to the relevant BIS codes and other relevant codes. However, the bidder may suggest any equivelent make/ model/brand meeting technical parameters on or before pre-bid conference for approval of BARC(V). 2) Only sieved river sand/crushed stone sand confirming to Zone-II from Godavari river or Varaha river or Vamsadhara river or Sarada river or Nagavali river / Crushed stone sand shall be used as fine aggregate and Graded hard broken granite metal of 3 stage (VSI) material shall be used as coarse aggregate in relevant items. Specification for fine and coarse aggregate shall confirm to IS:383 (latest revision) 3) In view of limit on water-cement ratio for durability requirements in design mix concrete, concrete admixtures (Carboxylate based superplasticizers) can be used after taking prior approval of Engineer-in-Charge and the rates quoted for concrete items shall be inclusive of the cost of admixtures, Design mix, trial mixes, testing (at site & at approved labs), etc. complete. 4) The contractor shall set up sufficient number of self loading mobile concrete mixers inside the project area for the production of concrete.
5) Contractor may also be allowed to procure concrete from prior approved RMC plants on prior approval of the BARC subject to maintain required slump at site during pouring.To that extent suitable Mix Design should be carried out with required retention period. No extra payment will be made if concrete is brought from RMC plants outside the project area. 6) Manufacturer's Test certificate of cement which is procured from dealer/company is to be submitted for all cement related works by the contractor. 7) The Scope of works which are not included in any specific items but indicated in the document "General Scope of all works" shall be within the scope of overall contract works. The cost of work/item/material indicated in this document shall be deemed to be included in the quoted rates of all individual items. 8) The quoted rates shall include necessary royalties, seigneiorage charges,etc. and all other charges to supply all the required construction materials.
9) For all standards and code of practices, specifications, like Indian Standard, MORT&H, ASTM, etc. refer only latest revisions including all applicable amendments, revisions and additional publications (during contract period) and these have to be followed. 10)Prior approval for source of all construction materials by submission of relavent test certificates, documents, invoices etc. have to be taken from BARC. 11) All the tests mentioned in Quality Assurance Plan(QAP) should be carried out without any extra cost. 12) The contractor has to submit all royalty /seigneiorage slips,etc for all the naturally available construction materials before submitting the RA bills.
Notes:
The item rates quoted by the Contractor for the relevant items shall, unless otherwise specified, also include compliance, supply and carrying out the following and no separate payment would be made for the same. 1) General works such as clearance of site, Survey, setting out of road embankment alignment and levelling, preparation of complete plan and profile of the road and clearance of works after completion. 2) Samples of materials for test; Design of mixes; Design calculation for temporary works. 3) Testing of various finished items and materials including bitumen, cement, concrete as required under these Specifications and furnishing test reports/certificates. 4) Inspection Reports in respect of formwork, staging of work as per the relevant Specifications. 5) Testing of various BOQ items of works as specified in QAP and other relevant Clauses & Cost of in-built provisions for Quality Assurance. 6) Arrangement of temporary Electric power supply / Diesel generators, lighting arrangements in work areas for carrying out all the activities of the tendered work.
Clearing Jungle including uprooting of rank vegetation, grass, brush wood, trees and saplings of girth upto 30cm measured at height of 1m above ground level and removal of rubbish up to a distance of 200m outside the periphery of the area cleared as per specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in -charge
Cutting and felling of trees of girth beyond 60 cm Girth up to and including 120 cm girth (measured at a height of 1 m above ground level) including cutting of trunks and branches, removing the roots and stacking of serviceable material and disposal of unserviceable material inside project campus within the boundary at places shown etc. complete as per specification and as directed by the Engineer-In-charge.

Embankment/Subgrade construction for road using the sources within the campus with all type of soils including boulders including excavation at source with hydraulic excavator at all levels, formation, construction of embankment/ subgrade/ shoulder/ side slopes of embankment with same excavated soil including loading,Transporting, unloading to embakment site with following lead, spreading in layers and compacting each layer with 8 to 10 tonne power capacity vibratory power roller to acheive 95% proctor density,making suitable temperory approach road for the movement of excavator, tipper, dumper and other equipments, dewatering if required all as per drawings, specifications and as directed by the Engineer-In-charge.

Construction of Embankment/ subgrade/ earthen shoulders with approved quality murrum/gravel brought from outside sources including Supply of all materials, in road works and the area wherever specified including breaking clods, storing, transportation, watering, with compacted thickness of each layer not exceeding 250mm with suitable vibratory roller/200mm thick with 8 to 10 ton capacity power roller to achieve 95% proctor density for embankment & 97% proctor density for Subgrade and Shoulders at optimum moisture content, all leads and lifts, bailing/ pumping out of water to keep site dry while backfilling. Cost shall include conveyance of all materials, labour, machinery, seigniorage charges etc. complete. The rate quoted shall include loading, unloading, hire and fuel charges for tools and plants and other incidental charges etc. The rate quoted shall also include compaction of original ground by vibratory power road roller, complete all as per drawings, specifications and as directed by the Engineer-In-charge.
Construction of Granular Sub base by providing machine crushed graded material conforming to Grading V of Table 400-1 & physical requirements as per Table 400-2 of MORTH Fifth Revision including spreading in uniform thickness with motor grader on prepared surface, mixing in a mechanical mix plant at OMC and compacting with vibratory roller to achieve the desired density complete as per specification etc. including cost and conveyance of all materials of specified sizes, seigniorage charges, water etc. to site, labour charges for all operations, hire and operational charges of power roller and other T&P all taxes etc. complete all as per drawings, specifications and as directed by the Engineer-In-charge.
Providing, laying, spreading and compacting graded crushed hard stone aggregate compacted Wet Mix Macadam conforming to Table 400-12 and Table 400-13 of MORTH Fifth Revision including premixing the material with water at OMC in mechanical mix plant, carriage of mixed material by tipper to site, laying in uniform thickness with paver in base course on well prepared surface and compacting with vibratory roller of 8 to 10 Tonnes to achieve the desired density in stages to proper grade and camber as directed by Engineer-in-charge and as per specification including cost and conveyance of all materials of specified sizes, water etc. seigniorage charges, labour charges for all operations, hire and operational charges of power roller and other T&P all taxes etc. complete for finished item of work all as per drawings, specifications and as directed by the Engineer-In-charge.
Providing and applying prime coat using slow setting bitumen emulsion conforming to IS:8887/ASTM D2397 at the rate of minimum 0.75kg per sqm on the prepared surface cleared with mechanical broomer, applied uniformly with the aid of emulsion pressure sprayer and spraying bar with nozzles including cost and conveyance of bitumen, labour charges, hire and operational charges all T&P, all taxes, etc complete as per specifications before laying Dense Bituminous Macadam all as per drawings, specification and as directed by Engineer-In- Charge.
Providing and applying tack coat using bitumen emulsion rapid setting conforming to IS:8887/ASTM D2397 at the rate of minimum 0.40 Kgs per sqm on the prepared surface cleared with mechanical broomer, applied uniformly with the aid of emulsion presure sprayer and spraying bar with nozzles including cost and conveyance of bitumen, labour charges, hire and operational charges all T&P, all taxes, etc. complete as per specifications before laying Dense Bituminous Concrete all as per drawings, specification and as directed by the Engineer-In-charge.
Providing and laying Dense Bituminous macadam on prepared surface with specified graded crushed stone aggregate using hot mixing of stone aggregate, filler and bitumen in hot mix plant, transporting the mixed material by tippers to paver and laying the mixed material with paver finisher fitted with electronic sensing device to the required level and grade and rolling by road roller to achieve the desired density and an average compacted thickness of 50/75 mm all as per specifications, with minimum 5.0% (percentage by weight of total mix) bitumen of VG-30 grade conforming to IS: 73 and cement filler @2% (percentage by weight of aggregate) all as per drawings, specification and as directed by the Engineer-In-charge.

Providing and laying Bituminous Concrete on prepared surface with specified graded stone aggregate for wearing course including loading of aggregate with FE loader and hot mixing of bitumen with filler and stone aggregate in hot mix plant transporting the mixed material by tippers to paver and laying the mixed material with mechanical paver finisher fitted with electronic sensing device to the requied level and grade and rolling with road rollers, as per drawings, specification and to achieve the desired density and compaction but excluding cost of primer / tack coat 40mm/50mm compacted thickness with bitumen of VG-30 grade conforming to IS: 73 @ minimum 5.5% and cement filler @2% (percentage by weight of aggregate) and as directed by the Engineer-In-charge.
Providing and laying in position cement concrete of 1:3:6(1 cement:3 crushed sand:6 graded stone aggregate of maximum size 20mm ) including consolidation, finishing, curing etc. complete as per specifications and drawings but excluding the cost of Formwork shuttering, centering complete at all levels and as per drawings, specification and as per the direction of Engineer-In-charge
Providing and laying design mix reinforced cement concrete of M30 grade by weigh batching of following grades using graded stone aggregate of 20mm max. size including handling & transportation, mechanical mixing, placing to required location by hoisting and / or pumping & mechanical vibration, consolidation, finishing, curing, hacking of concrete surfaces wherever required etc. complete at all levels as per specifications & also including dewatering, if any, complete all as per drawings, specification and as directed by the Engineer-In-charge but excluding formwork, shuttering and steel reinforcement which will be paid under relevant items.
Note: 1) Rates quoted for PCC & RCC items shall include cost of sieved river sand/ crushed stone sand as fine aggregate and graded hard broken granite metal of 3 stage (VSI) material as a coarse aggregate. 2) The mix shall be desiged to maintain the desired slump (as required at site/specified in IS code). In view of limit on water-cement ratio for durability requirements in design mix concrete, admixtures can be used after taking prior approval of Engineer-in-Charge and the rates quoted for the items shall be inclusive of the cost of admixtures, trial mixes, testing (at site & at approved labs), etc. complete. 3) The contractor shall set up fully automatic batching plant/sufficient number of Self loading mobile concrete mixers inside the project area for the manufacture of concrete. 4) Contractor may also be allowed to procure concrete from prior approved RMC plants on prior approval of the BARC subject to maintain required slump at site during pouring.To that extent suitable Mix Design should be carried out with required retention period. No, extra payment will be made if concrete is brought from RMC plants outside the project area. 5) The rate of concrete shall include all labour, equipment, charges for mixing & cost of admixtures. 6) Test certificate of cement, procured from dealer/company has to be submitted for all concrete works by the contractor. 7) Rate quoted for RCC items shall include cost of relevant design mix and testings.
8) This item is applicable for all PCC and RCC structural elements like footings, beams, columns, slabs, lintels, chajjas, walls etc., for all heights and leads. 9) Only steel scaffolding, staging, supporting system to the formwork and steel frame work will have to be used for all RCC structural elements. 10) All surfaces adjacent to EPs, etc., shall be in true line and level & irregularities, if any, shall be rounded by mechanical grinding, chiseling, finishing the same using epoxy silica sand mortar at no extra payment. 11) Form finish F3 shall be provided to all exposed surfaces of the concrete.
Providing Reinforcement steel of all diameters for reinforced cement concrete at all levels including supplying, preparation of bar bending schedules, cutting, bending, transporting to all elevations and all leads, fixing, tieing in position with 1.2 mm dia GI binding wire including all labour charges, cost of cover blocks (in same grade of concrete) of various thicknesses and sizes etc. all as per specifications and drawings etc., as directed by Engineer-in-charge. Using TMT Bars of Specified Grades of all sizes. TMT bars to be supplied by the contractor SAIL, RINL or TATA make only of grade - Fe 500D / Fe-500EQR.
Notes: 1) 1.2mm dia annealed GI coated (20 micron to 40 micron) binding wire required for the work will have to be supplied by the contractor at their own cost and will not be measured for payment. 2) Fe-500D / Fe-500EQR bars as per IS to be supplied by the contractor. 3) Reinforcement bars from conversion agents / re-rollers of above manufacturers, will not be accepted. 4) No extra payment will be made on account of Rolling Margin & wastage. 5) Contractor shall supply copy of the documentry evidence of purchase of steel, test certificate from these manufacturers and also test from third party to be carried out at no extra cost.
Providing centering and shuttering using steel plates, timber planks indicated in specification, so as to produce neat form finished concrete surfaces, including necessary strutting, propping, staging, supports, bracings etc. at all levels / heights including clear storey heights and removal of the same and including sealing the form joints suitably to avoid fins and abrupt irregularities, etc.complete all as per drawings, specification and as directed by Engineer-In-charge.
Note: 1) Only steel staging system formwork will have to be used for all structural / RCC work such as slab, beam, chajjas etc. for all floors at all levels / heights. 2) All surfaces adjacent to EPs, etc., shall be in true line and level & irregularities, if any, shall be rounded by mechanical grinding, chisseling, finsihing the same using epoxy silica sand mortar(GP-2 of conbextra or approved equivalent) at no extra payment. 3) The design and drawings of formwork shall be submitted alongwith calculations for approval before commencement of work.
Providing and constructing required thickness of masonry walls at all elevations (below or above ground level including foundations) with approved quality Fly ash/ FAL-G bricks (confirming to IS 12894) having minimum crushing strength 60 Kgs/Sq.cm and water absorption of maximum 20%, in cement mortar 1:4 (1 cement : 4 river sand/ crushed stone sand) uniformly mixed complete including pointing, raking out joints, curing, cleaning, including independent double legged scaffolding, at all heights, depths and leads, dewatering area where required etc., all as per typical drawings, Technical specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in-charge.
Note for flyash bricks: In the fly ash bricks the mix confirming to the strength mentioned in the respective items shall be got approved by the department. The mix shall consist of ordinary portland cement content of required % of the mixture consisting of Fly ash, OPC and Gypsum or any variation in proportion of design mix to obtain specified mix shall be submitted to BARC for approval. The Anhydraous Gypsum, Fly Ash, Cement, Crusher dust and other materials shall confirm to the the relevant IS codes. The Anhydrous Gypsum shall be procured from a reputed source in Cuddlore in Tamilnadu approved by the department, from TANFAC industries, Cuddlore, Tamilnadu. Roller mixer shall be used for good homogeneous mixing. Note : a) Reinforcement will be measured & paid for separately under relevant item. b) RCC band and formwork shall not be measured seperatly, however no deductions will be made in brickwork for the same. c) No holes in brickwall will be allowed for scaffolding. Only double tubular steel scaffolding be allowed.
Providing 15 mm thick sand cement plastering in cement mortar 1:4 (using crushed sand) to walls at all levels finished smooth, including material and labour, sieving of sand to required fineness, preparation of the surface, scaffolding, finishing, curing all as per specifications, drawings and as directed at site complete as directed by Engineer-in-charge.
Providing and laying crusher dust bedding below hume pipes and on sides passing through 5.6mm seive or any other places as complete all as per drawings, specification and as directed by Engineer-In-charge. Cost including supply of materials and labour.
Providing and laying of RCC Pipe Culverts using NP3 class RCC Hume pipes ( confirming to IS 458) with spigot and socket jointed with stiff mixture of cement mortar in the proportion of 1:2, laying to the levels, slopes and all as per drawings, specification and as directed by Engineer-In-charge. Cost including materials and labour. including hoisting, placing in position by manual or mechanical means, setting up of culverts, pipe crossings and as directed by the Engineer-In-charge.
