Replacing damaged manhole cover raising of manhole cover of cable ducts with SFRC covers in TRICHUR BA for the period 2024 25

Making, supplying and laying SFRC (Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete) manhole covers in cable duct routes under Trichur Telecom area having the following specifications.

Manhole cover shall be 900mm x 900mm square in Shape and 140 mm thick. The manhole cover shall be 140 mm thick made with fiber reinforced cement concrete of mix 1:1.5:3 (1 Cement : 1.5 coarse sand : 3 graded stone aggregate 20mm nominal size) with 0.50mm thick steel fibers (of approved quality and make) and 2 layers of 12mm dia thermo-mechanically treated bars spaced at an interval of 120 mm center to center in both directions in a caged manner (stirrup form) at top and bottom. The quantity of steel fibers used in concrete shall be not less than 5 kg per cover. The edges of the manhole cover on top portion of the slab shall be provided with steel angle 65x65x6 mm painted with two coats of epoxy paint over priming coat of red oxide zinc chromate primer. The cover shall be engraved with the name "BSNL" on top and the cover should have lifting facility with chain and hook arrangement, for which a hole of 50 mm dia should be provided at the center throughout the thickness of the manhole covers .

Fixing the manhole covers in position on roads, above the manhole openings with plain cement concrete of 1:1.5 :3 ( 1 cement : 1.5 Coarse Sand : 3 Graded Stone Aggregate 20mm nominal size) for an average width of 10 centimeters and 140mm thickness around the periphery of the manhole cover after chipping away the old bituminous portion / concrete / old frames, if any before laying the cover. Necessary protection shall be given during traffic with necessary caution sign, ribbons and barricading. The debris, demolished materials, if any, shall be disposed in approved dumping grounds within a lead of 5 km. (The rate is inclusive of all materials, protective measures to be taken in traffic and all labour charges involved in the above operation and nothing extra shall be paid on any account.) The work shall be carried out as per the direction and instructions of the Engineer-in-charge and nothing extra shall be paid on any account .
