GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION SUB SOIL EXPLORATION AT THREE DIFFERENT WORKS SITE UNDER GE ND VISAKHAPATNAM

Amount

(1) Mobilization of equipment for detailed soil investigation and shifting them from one location to other location of boreholes and for in situ tests (For 1 bore holes). (2) Boring holes 150 mm dia in any type of soil, but excluding any type of rock upto a depth as directed by Engineer-in-charge for conducting following acrtivities (1 borehole upto minimum depth of refusal not exc 15m deep ): (a) Conduct of SPT at every 1.5 m interval or change of strata whichever occurs earlier. (b) Collection of undistrubed soil samples (UDS) at every 1.5m interval or change of strata whichever occurs earlier (a minimum gap of 500mm shall be ensured between SPT and collection of UDS). (3) Conduct of following laboratory tests as per relevant Indian Standards [ IS 2720 (all parts), IS 1498 and IS 3025] on soil samples collected : (a) Test on disturbed/undisturbed soil samples : i. Visual and Engineering classification: (As reqd basis, not exceeding 10 Nos per bore hole). ii. Sieve analysis and hydrometer analysis: (As reqd basis, not exceeding 10 Nos per bore hole). iii. Atterberg limits (liquid limit, plastic limit and shrinkage limit): (As reqd basis, not exceeding 10 Nos per bore hole). iv. Specific gravity: (As reqd basis, not exceeding 10 Nos per bore hole). v. Free swell index: (As reqd basis, not exceeding 10 Nos per bore hole).

(b) Test on undisturbed soil samples: (As reqd basis, not exceeding 10 Nos per bore hole); i. Bulk density and moisture content; ii. Unconfined compression test (on undisturbed and remoulded sample); iii. Swelling pressure (on undisturbed and remoulded sample); iv. Determination of C & ø values using Direct shear (drained/undrained) ( on remoulded or undisturbed sample) or Triaxial compression tests ( on undisturbed or remoulded sample) or Vane shear test. (4) Chemical analysis of soil samples one each from each strata in respect of one borehole. If different strata(s) encountered in any other borehole additional soils samples to be analysed. (5) Submission of report consisting of bore logs, data sheets with laboratory test results and recommendations for the type of foundation for construction of structures in case where pile foundation area is recommended vertical, uplift and lateral load capacity of piles to be clearly mentioned/brought out in the report duty vetted by any of IIT/NIT/Andhra University. Note: The above rates are inclusive of all requirements/details given below. Composition of subsurface investigation report:- General On completion of the insite and laboratory tests, subsurface investigation report shall be parted which shoul include geological information, procedure adopted for investigation, field observation, laboratory or test data , anlysis, interpretation, recommendations etc. Information to be provided:

The report shall be included but not be limited to the following: (a) Dimentioned plan shoeing location and depth of in-situ tests; the coordinates of borehole location with reference to prominent permanent features of the site duly signed by GE and Geo consultant; (b)Geological information of the area; (c) General topography of the site, duly marking RL of the location of boreholes with reference to RL of nearby permanent features available at site duly signed by GE. (d) Past usage and historical data of the site, if available. Information regarding flooding of the site in the past, high flood level etc; e) Bore-log and trial pit log duly signed by GE and Geo consultant; f) In-situ test results; (g) Plot of standard penetration test (N values both uncorrected and corrected ) with depth for identified areas; (h) Laboratory test results; (i) Summary of strata profile
