Fabrication, Erection and commissioning of Earth pits and Lightning protection system in Ph-2 plants of FACT-CD, Ambalamedu.

Erection, testing and commissioning of earthpits. The scope of work includes supply of pipe electrode and accessories confirming to IS 3043, breaking PCC floor, excavation of pit, dewatering the excavated pit if required, installing new pipe electrode and accessories, levelling the base of inspection chamber, concreting inspection chamber base, construction of inspection chamber with provision for earth cables entry, refilling with charcoal, salt & sand, covering the chamber with CI plate. The scope of work also includes materials for PCC and all other items required for completion of the work. Breaking of PCC floor if required will be in contractor's scope. Necessary breaker and other tools etc. shall be arranged by the contractor. Sample diagram of Pipe electrode earting is attached as Annexure-1. Earth pit resistance shall be measured and test report shall be submitted.

Supply of 25 mm x 6 mm aluminium strip. The scope of work includes supply of 25mmx6mm aluminium strip for using as conductor for lightning protection.

Erection of Lighning Protection Conductors. The scope of the work includes the erection and clamaping of 25 mm x 6 mm aluminum strip on roof top/ asbestos sheet roof/ Non AC sheet roof/ structures/ columns/ walls/ parapet wall/ trenches/ pipes/trays using suitable supporting spacers for lightning protection of buildings, storage tanks and godowns as per IS 2309. If conductor needs to be layed over roof slab, concrete upstands (with cement ,sand and mortar of dimention not less than L-100mm, W-100mm, H-50mm) shall be used for conductor fixing at an interval of 1500 mm.

Erection, testing and commissioning of lightning protection system. The scope of work includes fabrication of junction plates/end connection plates, making bolt holes, interlinking conductors, termination, breaking PCC floor, excavation, dewatering if required, laying 1 core earth cable of size up to 240 Sq.mm, refilling the excavated area, terminating the cable at down conductor end connection plate, removing earth pit slab, terminating the earth cable at earth pit, refixing the slab. The scope of work also includes welding, riveting, bracing, fixing lugs, anticorrosive coating, structural supporting, etc. as required. All items except earth cable shall be arranged by the contractor. Earth cable will be supplied by FACT at free of cost. Nut, Bolt and washers shall be of SS. The scope of work includes termination of two numbers of down conductors to separate earth pits.

Removal of damaged Lightning protection system. The scope of work includes removing existing damaged lightning protection strips and supports from roof top/ asbestos sheet roof/ Non AC sheet roof/ structures/ columns/ walls/ parapet wall/ trenches/ pipes/trays and handing over the same to the Technician-in- charge.
