SOIL INVESTIGATION FOR THE WORK FOR PROVISION OF ROAD CONNECTING VAYUVIHAR TO KENDRIYAVIDYALAYA AKKULAM UNDER GE AFTRIVANDRUM

Carrying out soil investigation including mobilisation/ transportation of machinery tools, tackels, personals and shifting of entire arrangement from one bore to another bore hole location etc and drilling of bore hole of 150mm dia in any soil strata upto 9 mtr or 3 mtr inside rock whichever is earlier at different locations as per direction of Engr in charge.Refusal ground level and conducton standard penetration test and collection of undisturbed samples at 1.5m intervals or at any change of strata in undisturbed strata including net SBC value at 1.5m,2.0m,2.5m, 3.0m for shear as well as settlement criteria & the same to be calculated based on C-Phi analysis as well as SPT value as per IS 6403. Note: The rate quoted for item No.1 shall be deemed to be included for all provisions as specialised under Sl Nos 1.01 to 1.04 here in below and shall be done as directed by EIC.

Chemical analysis of soil & ground water (sample of water shall be from bottom of bore hole), including necessary test from approved laboratory and submitting test results to a satisfactory level viz laboratory test grains size analysis LL and PL etc., required for evaluation of safe allowable bearing capacity, in addition 3 samples from back fill of retaining wall shall be tested for atterberg limt, gradation & C-Ø analysis etc. along with recommendation regarding type of foundation, SBC to be adopted and net SBC/pile capacity to be adopted and also regarding stability of soil and soil stabilization required if any to be used in ibid work and submitting geotechnical investigation report in four sets, bore hole positions duly marked on plan and their distance from adjacent prominent reference point, plan of retaining wall complete in all aspect as directed and conducitng necessary tests as per relevent IS codes/NBC 2005/SP 36 on all collected samples which include the determination of the following :-

(a) Grain size analysis, identification & classification of soil. (b)Unit weight ( bulk density), natural moisture content, liquid limit, plastic limit, shrinkage limit, plasticity index, specific gravity. (c)Dry density, degree of saturation of soil. (d) Differential free swell (%) & swelling pressure if expensive soil is encountered. (e) Shear Parameters (C- Phi Analysis ). (f) Consolidation test & Permeability test. (g)Chemical analysis of soil. (h) Chemical analysis of ground water ( water to be obtained from bottom of bore hole ). (j) Depth of water table below Ground level. (k) Presence of loose soil, if any and its depth. (l) If weak soil with lesser N value as specified in table-1 of IS 1893 (Part -1) 2016 is encountered then evaluation of liquefaction potential shall be assessed and remedial actions to be adopted shall be specified.

(m)Undisturbed soil samples shall be collected at 1.5 m interval and at change of strata. (n) Bore hole dia shall be 150mm. Depth shall be as per letter. (o) SPT Tests shall be done at 1.5 m interval. (p) Crushing strength, degree of weathering (CR value) and RQD of rock samples.. (q)As per IS 1892 clause 3.6.5.3 drilling for 3.0 m depth inside the rock is essential to ensure that boulders or layers of cemented soil are not mistaken for rock. (r) For open foundations, calculation of Net SBC at 1.5m,2.0m,2.5m,3.0m from shear as well as settlement criteria. SBC value shall be calculated based on C-Phi analysis as well as SPT value. For calculation formulae given in IS:6403 shall be used. (s) If pile foundation are required than depth of pile shall be mentioned and pile capacity in compression, uplift and lateral loads shall be given for 300,400,450 and 500mm dia for under reamed pile and for 450,500,550 and 600 mm dia for long piles .

(t) Recommendations regarding type of foundation to be adopted and net SBC /pile capacities to be adopted.Also recommendation shall be given regarding stability of soil and soil stabilisation required,if any . (u) Bore hole position duly marked on plan and their distance from adjacent prominent reference points. Plan size of the bldgs shall also be marked in the plan. This plan shall be signed by GE, AGE and soil consultant. (v) Bore log details shall be as per Appx D of IS:1892. N values depth wise shall also be shown in bore log details .Bore log details shall be signed by GE, AGE and soil consultant. (w) Report shall be prepared by competent Geo technical Expert holding PhD in Geo technical engineering from IIT/NIT/IISc Bangalore. (x) Photographs during soil investigation duly signed by AGE,GE and soil consultant shall be enclosed with soil report. (y)Final report shall be submitted in quadruplicate after approval by Accepting Officer.

All as per Item No. 1 (including provns as specified in SL No 1.01 to 1.04 ) above but depth of bore hole upto 6m or 3m inside rockwhichever is earlier all as specified and directed.

Note for Item Nos. 3.1,3.2 &3.3 as below:-

(i) Rate quoted for these items are only for price adjustment in the event of variation arises due to site condition in depth of drilling for bore hole of 150mm dia for Sl Item Nos. 1 & 2 herein before

(ii) While arriving contract sum the amount against BOQ item Nos 1 & 2 shall only be considered
