Analysis and Design: 1) Scope of the analysis and design for the whole Cooling Tower CIVIL structure including foundation is included in the bidder's scope and shall be as per relevant latest revisions of Indian Standard (IS) codes and shall include the following procedure for obtaining approval from BARC(V) but not limited to: a) Submission of Design Basis Report (DBR) including all input details (ie. material properties & loading parameters), Design methodology etc. as specified by BARC(V). b) Submission of finite element model and preliminary drawings along with design calculations c) Submission of GFC drawings for approval of BARC (V). d) Submission of approved good for construction drawings in 06 (Six) copies to BARC(V). Note: 1) All the analysis, design documents and drawings shall be submitted and shall be approved by BARC prior to procurement of materials and start of construction. 2) No additional payment will be made for Analysis and Design. Bidders have to quote all BOQ items accordingly.
General Notes: 1) Only sieved river sand/crushed stone sand confirming to Zone-II from Godavari river or Varaha river or Vamsadhara river or Sarada river or Nagavali river / Crushed stone sand shall be used as fine aggregate and Graded hard broken granite metal of 3 stage (VSI) material shall be used as coarse aggregate in relevant items. Specification for fine and coarse aggregate shall confirm to IS:383 (latest revision) 2) The make/model/brand for all the BOQ items shall be as per suggestive makes of Annexure-B of Section-VII of the tender document. These makes are merely for guidance and bidders can prefer any other make which is meeting technical specifications given under Section-V and Schedule of Quantities of Tender document and shall confirm to the relevant BIS codes and other relevant codes. However, the bidder may suggest any equivelent make/ model/brand meeting technical parameters on or before pre-bid conference for approval of BARC(V). 3) In view of limit on water-cement ratio for durability requirements in design mix concrete, concrete admixtures (Carboxylate based superplasticizers) can be used after taking prior approval of Engineer-in-Charge and the rates quoted for concrete items shall be inclusive of the cost of admixtures, Design mix, trial mixes, testing (at site & at approved labs), etc. complete. 4) The contractor shall set up sufficient number of self loading mobile concrete mixers inside the project area for the production of concrete.
5) Contractor may also be allowed to procure concrete from prior approved RMC plants on prior approval of the BARC subject to maintain required slump at site during pouring.To that extent suitable Mix Design should be carried out with required retention period. No extra payment will be made if concrete is brought from RMC plants outside the project area. 6) Manufacturer's Test certificate of cement which is procured from dealer/company is to be submitted for all cement related works by the contractor. 7) "Substrcture" referes to the part of structure upto top level of BASIN slab and "Superstructure"refers to the part of structure above the top of BASIN slab. 8) The Scope of works which are not included in any specific items but indicated in the document "General Scope of all works" shall be within the scope of overall contract works. The cost of work/item/material indicated in this document shall be deemed to be included in the quoted rates of all individual items. 9) The quoted rates shall include necessary royalties, seigneiorage charges,etc. and all other charges to supply all the required construction materials. 10) For all standards and code of practices, specifications, like Indian Standard, MORT&H, ASTM, etc. refer only latest revisions including all applicable amendments, revisions and additional publications (during contract period) and these have to be followed.
11)Prior approval for source of all construction materials by submission of relavent test certificates, documents, invoices etc. have to be taken from BARC. 12) All the tests mentioned in Quality Assurance Plan(QAP) should be carried out without any extra cost. 13) The contractor has to submit all royalty /seigneiorage slips,etc for all the naturally available construction materials before submitting the RA bills for processing of the same.
INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS
Note: The rates in respect of earth filling items is applicable for the net quantities arrived as per the actual difference in levels jointly taken by the department and the contractor after compaction of the earth as mentioned in the item description.
Providing, supplying and filling in the plinth and other approved locations with approved murrum/gravel brought from inside sources within a lead up to 5kM in layers of not more than 250 mm thick, compacted with vibratory rammer / floor compactor and consolidated including watering to achieve a minimum of 90% of proctor density at optimum moisture content,etc. complete all as per drawing, Technical specifications and as directed by Engineer-in-charge. (only consolidated thickness will be measured and paid for)
Filling of areas in and around builldings wherever specified with approved quality murrum/gravel brought from outside sources including Supply of all materials including breaking clods, storing, transportation, watering, spreading by both mechanical and manual means,compacting in layers of not exceeding 250 mm compacted thick each layer with 3 tonne capacity power roller to achieve a minimum of 95% proctor density at optimum moisture content, all leads and lifts, bailing/ pumping out of water to keep site dry while backfilling. Cost shall include conveyance of all materials, labour, machinery, seigniorage charges etc. complete. The rate quoted shall include loading, unloading, hire and fuel charges for tools and plants, removal of boulders by both mechanical and manual means and other incidental charges etc complete. The rate quoted shall also include compaction of original ground by suitable roller to achieve a minimum of 90% proctor density at optimum moisture content , complete all as per drawings and Technical specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge.
Supplying, lowering, laying of RCC Hume Pipes (Class NP2) with necessary collars, laid to correct grade & levels at all depth, including cutting to lengths, jointing with hemp yarn & cement mortar 1:1, caulking the joints, finishing, curing and testing all as per Technical specification and as directed by Engineer-in-charge. Cost including reinforcement steel, materials and labour etc., including hoisting, placing in position by manual or mechanical means and as directed by the Engineer-in-charge including testing of joints etc. complete. (Note: Excavation, bedding shall be measured seperately under relevant item)

Providing, laying, spreading and compacting hand broken/ crushed stone aggregate under floors also, of required thickness Wet Mix Macadam including premixing of material with water in mixing plant for Wet Mix Macadam, carriage of mixed material by tipers to the site and laying material in uniform thickness under floors etc., and laying by mechanical paver including rolling with road roller 8 to 10 tonne capacity in stages to proper grade and camber spreading and brooming etc. complete as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge (Compacted thickness only will be measured and paid for.)
Providing and fixing 110 mm dia PVC rain water pipes conforming to relevant IS type B and PVC SWR fittings &specials conforming to relevant IS including jointing with seal ring / With PVC solvent, adhesive including fixing in walls using clamps etc complete all as per drawings, specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in-charge
EARTH WORK EXCAVATION
General Notes for Earth Work Excavation: Note : The rate quoted for earth work excavation by contractor is deemed to have included the following points (a) to (j) a) removal of all kinds of vegetation, small shrubs, light/heavy jungle, trees etc., alongwith roots, including disposal/stack in the identified location. b) shoring, strutting, stepping, dressing, grading required for keeping the earth in position on sides of trenches with approved timber/steel accessories wherever necessary to prevent sides from falling including bailing or pumping out of water if necessary including removal of debris/unserviceable materials and excavated excess soil, if any. c) dewatering of both ground and surface water, including removal of slurry generated while excavation and keeping the area free from water, to be let out of the building area through proper pipes & channels if required by suitable pumps, d) watering, ramming and thoroughly consolidate the bottom of all excavations & ground before the construction of foundation/footing/plinth beam, filling in basement or other work is commenced.
e) the loose pockets shall be excavated and compacted after back filling as directed by Engineer-in-charge, as per detailed specification and conforming to safety rules during progress of the work. f) Contour levels to be taken jointly with the Engineer-in-charge and prior written approval be taken before starting any excavation/ filling at every 3 m grids for arriving at the actual quantity, g) Backfilling will be done in layers of thickness as specified below. h) Cost inclusive of necessary royalties, seigneiorage charges and other charges to supply all the required construction materials, i) cost of items shall include all labour charges, hire charges of machinery, lubricants, fuels and tests etc. j) Measurement/Payment will be reststicted to PCC/drawing dimensions only.
PCC, RCC & FORM WORK
General Notes For PCC & RCC: 1) Rates quoted for PCC & RCC items shall include cost of sieved river sand (from Godavari river or varaha river or Vamsadhara river or sarada river or Nagavali river)/ crushed stone sand (confirming to Zone-II ) as fine aggregate and graded hard broken granite metal of 3 stage (VSI) material as a coarse aggregate. Providing and laying in position cement concrete of 1:3:6 (1 cement, 3 river Coarse river sand/ crushed stone sand, 6 graded stone aggregate of maximum size 20 mm) at all elevations including for roads. Cost includes consolidation, finishing curing etc. complete all as per drawings and technical specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge but excluding the cost of form work shuttering, centering all as directed by Engineer-in-charge.
Conducting Design MIx for M30 grade SELF COMPACTING concrete with minimum cement content of 400kg/cum at any NABL approved lab in and around Visakhapatanam including all necessary field & laboratory tests as per QAP of tender document. Cost includes providing and supply of all required ingredients materials required for carrying the design mix to NABL laboratory. Cost also includes submission of two sets mix design reports for BARC approval .
Providing and laying design mix reinforced cement concrete of M30 Grade by weigh batching using graded stone aggregate of 20mm max. size and coarse river sand/ crushed stone sand of approved quality including admixtures of approved Brand and quality, including handling & transportation, scaffolding, mechanical mixing, placing to required location by hoisting and / or pumping & mechanical vibration, consolidation, finishing, curing, hacking of concrete surfaces wherever required etc. complete at all levels in substructure/superstructure as per specifications & also including dewatering, if any, complete all as per drawings and technical specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge but excluding formwork, shuttering and steel reinforcement. Notes: 1) The minimum cement content shall be 400 Kgs per cubic metre of concrete and with water cement ratio including the water contained in the aggregates not exceeding 0.40. However, actual cement content required shall be based on design mix requirements carried out at BARC approved (NABL accredited) laboratory. In case the cement quantity consumed more than the specified above, the cost towards extra cement will not be paid. 2) Slump shall be in the range of 150mm to 180mm 3)Temparature raised due to heat of hydration shall be kept within limits in raft/mass concrete by keeping proper curing mechanism.

Note: All projections, fins etc. in the concrete surface formed at the joints in formwork should be ground & flush and finished at no extra cost.

Providing, centering, shuttering Form work using Film faced plywood to get a neat form finish surface for all types of structures including necessary strutting, steel frame work/H-beams, steel proping, staging, supports etc and deshuttering the same after the specified time all as per drawings and technical specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge
General Notes for centering, shuttering & Form work: 1) This item is applicable for all PCC and RCC structural elements like footings, beams, columns, slabs, lintels, chajjas, walls,roads etc., for all heights and leads. 2) Only steel scaffolding, staging, supporting system to the formwork and steel frame work will have to be used for all RCC structural elements. 3) All surfaces adjacent to EPs, etc., shall be in true line and level & irregularities, if any, shall be rounded by mechanical grinding, chiseling, finishing the same using epoxy silica sand mortar at no extra payment. 4) The design and drawings of formwork shall be submitted alongwith calculations for approval before commencement of work. 5) Form finish F3 shall be provided to all exposed surfaces of the concrete. 6) Wall ties passing through the walls will not be allowed.

REINFORCEMENT & STRUCTURAL STEEL
General Notes for Reinforcement steel: 1) 1.2mm dia annealed GI coated binding wire required for the work will have to be supplied by the contractor at their own cost and will not be measured for payment. 2) Fe-500D / Fe-500EQR bars as per IS to be supplied by the contractor 3) Reinforcement bars from conversion agents / re-rollers of above manufacturers, will not be accepted. 4) No extra payment will be made on account of Rolling Margin & wastage. 5) Contractor shall supply copy of the documentry evidence of purchase of steel, test certificate from these manufacturers and also test from third party to be carried out at no extra cost.
Providing Reinforcement steel of all diameters for reinforced cement concrete at all levels including supplying, preparation of bar bending schedules, cutting, bending, transporting to all elevations, placing and keeping in positions, all leads, fixing, tieing with 1.2 mm dia annealed GI coated binding wire including all labour charges, cost of cover blocks (in same grade of concrete) of various thicknesses and sizes etc. all as per drawings and technical specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge. Using TMT Bars of Specified Grades of all sizes. TMT bars to be supplied by the contractor of grade - Fe 500D / Fe-500EQR.
General Notes for Structural steel : 1) Structural steel required for the work shall not be supplied by the Department. 2) Structural steel confirming to IS 2062 shall be supplied from their own plants rolled from virgin materials to be procured directly or from their authorised dealers and test cerificate to be produced. 3) The contractor shall supply documentary evidence of purchase of steel, Test certificate from manufacturers and also third party testing from approved laboratories with out any extra cost. 4) Welding weights, connections, bolts and nuts shall not be measured for payment but the cost of which shall be deemed to have been included in the rates. 5) Holes to be drilled only by Drilling machines and gas cutting of holes are not permitted. 6) Rate inclusive of all consumables like gas, welding electrodes and tools and tackles etc. 7) The Liquid Penetrant Inspection shall be carried out in 1% of the total joints and as directed by Engineer-in-Charge without any extra cost.
Providing Structural steel work using angles, channels, joists and other sections, welded and / or bolted including in built up sections for columns, beams, trusses, structural steel floors, frame works, monorails, and other structures including supplying, cutting, drilling, welding, fabricating, hoisting, fixing in position, applying a priming coat of zinc chromate steel primer etc., complete all as per drawings and Technical specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge.

Supply, fabrication, and fixing in position the MS embedded parts in RCC/ Masonry/ Form work at all heights. MASONRY WORKS
Providing and constructing 100/150/200/230mm (or as directed) thick masonry at all elevations with approved quality Fly ash/ FAL-G bricks (confirming to IS 12894) having minimum crushing strength 60 Kgs/Sq.cm and water absorption of maximum 20%, in cement mortar 1:4 (1 cement : 4 river sand/ crushed stone sand) uniformly mixed in machine with approved 'non-shrinking compound' as per manufacturer’s instruction in specified courses of approved bond also providing horizonatal RCC band of 100/150/200mm x 100 mm (or as directed) at about 1.00 m c/c with 2 nos. 8 mm dia Tor bars and 6 mm dia links at 300 mm c/c in cement concrete (1:2:4), required formwork, complete including pointing, raking out joints, curing, cleaning, including independent double legged scaffolding, at all heights, depths and leads, dewatering area where required etc., all as per typical drawings, Technical specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in-charge.

General Notes for flyash bricks: In the fly ash bricks the mix confirming to the strength mentioned in the respective items shall be got approved by the department. The mix shall consist of ordinary portland cement content of not less than 20%(preferably) of the mixture consisting of Fly ash, OPC and Gypsum or any variation in proportion of design mix shall be submitted to BARC for approval. The Anhydraous Gypsum, Fly Ash, Cement, Crusher dust and other materials shall confirm to the relevant IS codes. The Anhydrous Gypsum shall be procured from a reputed source approved by the department. Roller mixer shall be used for good homogeneous mixing. a) Reinforcement will be measured & paid for separately under relevant item. b) RCC band and formwork shall not be measured seperatly, however no deductions will be made in brickwork for the same. c) No holes in brickwall will be allowed for scaffolding. Only double tubular steel scaffolding be allowed.
PLASTERING WORKS
Providing 15 mm thick water proof plastering in cement mortar 1:4 (using river sand) admixtured with Water proofing admixture @ 2% by weight of cement used and as per manufacturer's specifications, sieving of sand to required fineness, double tubular steel scaffolding, finishing, curing,formation of grooves at dissimilar material junctions (beams and columns) etc. completeat all heights and depths, leads and lifts as per Technical specifications and as directed by Engineer-in-charge. cost including forming drip moulds /vattas wherever necessary and as directed by the Engineer-in-charge
Providing and applying 20mm thick waterproofing plastering to the concrete surfaces in two coats under layer 12 mm thick cement mortar 1:4 (using river sand) finished with a top layer 8 mm thick cement mortar 1:3 (using river sand), mixed uniformly by machine with approved polyster fibre and mixing of approved water proof compound as per recommendations of the manufacturer or as directed by the Engineer-in-charge, including raking out joints, hacking concrete surfaces and applying with approved chemical bonding agent, preparing junctions of concrete / masonry by neat cleaning, grouting at construction joints with non-shrink mortar etc., at all heights and depths, leads and lifts, curing, etc. complete as directed by Engineer-in-charge.
PAINTING WORKS
Note: All external/internal painting works will have to be done with erecting double tubular steel scaffolding only. No jhoola/Bhada shall be permitted. All rates quoted in the above painting items shall include erection of double tubular scafolding and provision of safety measures like safety belts, eye protection gears, etc.
Providing, applying and finishing walls with two coats of premium fine textured exerior paint of required shade over new work, plain plastered, concrete surfaces including base coat of water proof cement paint, preparation of the surfaces, scaffolding complete. as per specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in-charge
Providing and painting two coats on steel surfaces with synthetic enamel paint and required colour to give an even shade over a coat of zinc chromate primer (total three coats) Coat including preparation of the surfaces, scaffolding complete all as per technical specifications and as directed by Engineer-in-charge.

WATER PROOFING WORKS
NOTE: Specialized agency to be approved by BARC. PRINCIPAL CONTRACTOR SHALL GIVE GUARANTEE FOR STIPULATED TIME FOR THE WATERPROOFING WORKS DONE AT SITE. All surfaces to be waterproofed should be sound, clean and dry. Concrete surfaces should have a light steel-trowel followed by a fine hair-broom or equivalent finish, which is dry and free of dust, oil and other contaminants. All high spots should be removed. Moss and lichen must be removed physically followed by treatment with fungicidal wash to kill any spores and inhibit further growth. After treatment wash down thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry. Grouting periphery of spout pipes with water insensitive epoxy, pressure grouting of construction joints and honey comb areas with cement grout, proper preparation of the concrete surface by mechanical means/hydro blasting to ensure a good bond between the topping and the substrata, testing of the surfaces prior to start the work, after completion and after a period of one month after completion by ponding, grouting or sealing of joints, making vatta at corners/junctions etc are deemed to be included for all items while quoting rates contractor shall give both material and performance guarantee in the format acceptable by Engineer-in-charge. Note: Contractor shall provide 10 year guarantee for waterproofing on approved proforma.
Providing and placing in position suitable 225 mm wide PVC water stops conforming to IS 12200 for construction/expansion joints between two RCC Members and fixed to the reinforcement with binding wire before pouring concrete etc.complete as per technical specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in-charge. Note: Contractor shall provide 10 year guarantee for waterproofing on approved proforma.
Providing 50 mm thick screed with M30 using waterproofing compound of recommended proportion, including required wattas, rounding of corners; junctions with walls and floor finished smooth and cured at all levels. complete as per technical specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in-charge.
