1. Survey and Data Collection Study Reach: River Ganga / Bhagirathi / Hooghly from Farakka to Outfall – (Approx. 560 km.) Hydrological Survey: Collection of rainfall, discharge and water-level data Bathymetric Survey: River bed survey at 500 m intervals, with 250 m C/C spacing in meandering reaches. Terrain Data: Processing of 2.5 m × 2.5 m DEM and multi-temporal satellite imagery Survey Control: Establishment of GCPs, benchmarks and a geo-referenced survey database 2. Hydrological and Hydraulic Modelling Flood Frequency Analysis: Estimation of design floods for 5-, 25- and 100-year return periods Hydraulic Model: Development of a 2D hydraulic model for River Ganga/Bhagirathi/Hooghly using software Flood Simulation: Generation of water-surface profiles, flood levels and inundation extents Model Validation: Calibration and validation using observed hydraulic and flood data 3. GIS Analysis and Flood Plain Zoning Land Use Mapping: Preparation of land use pattern maps for the River basin Contour Mapping: Generation of contour maps from the 2.5 m × 2.5 m DEM with 0.3-0.5m contour interval FPZ Mapping: Delineation of floodplain boundaries and protective, regulating and warning zones GIS Validation: Integration of field observations with GIS-based flood zoning outputs 4. Deliverables and Capacity Building Draft and Final Reports.,Land use pattern maps., GIS maps of FPZ for 5, 25, 100 years on 1:10,000 scale with 0.3-0.5m contour interval [soft + hard copy]. Protective, Regulating, Warning zone boundaries on Mouza maps with Lat/Long/Elevation at 50m interval in tabular form.,Model outputs ,Flood inundation map.,Water-surface profile results Joint field verification with Dept. & District Administration. GCPs matched with Survey of India benchmarks. Training: 2 workshops [at end of 3rd & 5th month] + 2-day training before each workshop for 20-25 dept. engineers on RS-GIS & Hydraulic modelling and applications
