Collection of Undisturbed soil sample from the bore hole (Without using Mazier Sampler)
Standard Penetration Tests (S.P.T.) by Split Spoon Sampler using auto trip mechanism in the bore hole as per IS 2131.
Conducting in-situ test
Carrying out SPT Energy Measurement using SPT energy analyzer at store and submission of energy transfer ratio (ETR) certificate. Note: While quoting for relevant item of mobilisation, demobilisation etc., the biider shall include the cost of mobilisation, demobilisation etc. of SPT energy measurement test equipment also.
Carrying out borehole deviation survey as per ASTM D4432 recommendations
Carrying out Cone Penetration Test (CPTu) test using cone/probe for the determination soil characteristics. The test shall ensure minimum three outputs such as i) sleeve resistance ii) tip resistance, iii) pore water pressure and other parameters as directed by EIC. Note: It is clarified that the CPTu tests shall have to be conducted upto a depth of 90m. It is quite usual to push CPTu rig upto certain depth (approx. 50-60m) till it meets first refusal (meaning, the probe cannot be pushed down further due to meeting any one of the refusal criteria given in the specification). However, if refusal is met, the CPTu probe shall be withdrawn, the bore hole shall have to be drilled out till suitable soil is found through which the probe can be further pushed into the soil (suitability of the soil shall be determined based on the already conducted SPT boreholes and collected soil samples). This should be continued till the depth of 90m. The cost of such drilling (pre-drilling for restart of the CPTu) shall be paid as per item mentioned elsewhere in this document. Note 1: Instead of CPTu, the agency can also conduct the SCPTu but with no extra payment. Rate quoted against this item shall remain firm for both CPTu and SCPTu.
Conducting Down the Hole Suspension Logging/P-S logging along with data interpretaion and report. Note 1: Minimum 2 nos. shall be done onshore/nearshore and 1 no. shall be done offshore to get an idea across the entire width of the river bed material. Note 2: Each of the tests shall be carried out for a depth of 90m in those boreholes in which SPT has already been conducted and borehole has been prepared for carrying out Down-the-hole suspension logging. Note 3: Instead of Down-the-hole suspension logging/P-S logging, the agency can also conduct Cross Hole Seismic Test with 1:2 borehole configuration (1 transmitter and two receivers). However, NO additional cost towards drilling of additional boreholes, preparation of boreholes for CHST including liner, pipes, grouting etc. shall be borne by the owner/client.
Carrying out Menard Pressure Meter Test (PMT) in separate Boreholes dedicated for PMT including all and complete in all respect. Note: Cost of boreholes shall be paid separately under relevant item of boring. Frequency of the Test shall be 1 no. for each 5m or as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge.
